| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے محبوبِ مکرّم!) ہم نے آپ پر قرآن (اس لئے) نازل نہیں فرمایا کہ آپ مشقت میں پڑ جائیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We have not sent down the Qur'an to thee to be (an occasion) for thy distress,

| Tahir ul Qadri | مگر (اسے) اس شخص کے لئے نصیحت (بنا کر اتارا) ہے جو (اپنے رب سے) ڈرتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But only as an admonition to those who fear (Allah),-

| 4. [20:4] | Tanzeelan mimman khalaqa al-arda waalssamawatialAAula | تنزيلا ممن خلق الأرض والسماوات العلى تَنْزِيلًا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ الْعُلَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ) اس (اللہ) کی طرف سے اتارا ہوا ہے جس نے زمین اور بلند و بالا آسمان پیدا فرمائے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | A revelation from Him Who created the earth and the heavens on high.

| Yousuf Ali | (Allah) Most Gracious is firmly established on the throne (of authority).

| 6. [20:6] | Lahu ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi wama baynahuma wamatahta alththara | له ما في السماوات وما في الأرض وما بينهما وما تحت الثرى لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ الثَّرَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (پس) جو کچھ آسمانوں (کی بالائی نوری کائناتوں اور خلائی مادی کائناتوں) میں ہے اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے اور جو کچھ ان دونوں کے درمیان (فضائی اور ہوائی کرّوں میں) ہے اور جو کچھ سطح ارضی کے نیچے آخری تہہ تک ہے سب اسی کے (نظام اور قدرت کے تابع) ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To Him belongs what is in the heavens and on earth, and all between them, and all beneath the soil.

| 7. [20:9] | Wahal ataka hadeethu moosa | وهل أتاك حديث موسى وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کیا آپ کے پاس موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کی خبر آچکی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Has the story of Moses reached thee?

| Words | |وهل - And has| أتاك - come to you| حديث - the narration| موسى - (of) Musa?| | ||||||
| 8. [20:19] | Qala alqiha ya moosa | قال ألقها يا موسى قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَا مُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ارشاد ہوا: اے موسٰی! اسے (زمین پر) ڈال دو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Allah) said, "Throw it, O Moses!"

| Words | |قال - He said,| ألقها - "Throw it down,| يا - O| موسى - O Musa!"| | ||||||
| 9. [20:7] | Wa-in tajhar bialqawli fa-innahuyaAAlamu alssirra waakhfa | وإن تجهر بالقول فإنه يعلم السر وأخفى وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِالْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر آپ ذکر و دعا میں جہر (یعنی آواز بلند) کریں (تو بھی کوئی حرج نہیں) وہ تو سِرّ (یعنی دلوں کے رازوں) اور اخفی (یعنی سب سے زیادہ مخفی بھیدوں) کو بھی جانتا ہے (تو بلند التجاؤں کو کیوں نہیں سنے گا) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If thou pronounce the word aloud, (it is no matter): for verily He knoweth what is secret and what is yet more hidden.

| Words | |وإن - And if| تجهر - you speak aloud| بالقول - the word,| فإنه - then indeed, He| يعلم - knows| السر - the secret| وأخفى - and the more hidden.| | ||||||
| 10. [20:8] | Allahu la ilaha illahuwa lahu al-asmao alhusna | الله لا إله إلا هو له الأسماء الحسنى اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ (اسی کا اسمِ ذات) ہے جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں (گویا تم اسی کا اثبات کرو اور باقی سب جھوٹے معبودوں کی نفی کر دو)، اس کے لئے (اور بھی) بہت خوبصورت نام ہیں (جو اس کی حسین و جمیل صفات کا پتہ دیتے ہیں) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names.

| 11. [20:11] | Falamma ataha noodiya yamoosa | فلما أتاها نودي يا موسى فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا نُودِي يَا مُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر جب وہ اس (آگ) کے پاس پہنچے تو ندا کی گئی: اے موسٰی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But when he came to the fire, a voice was heard: "O Moses!

| Words | |فلما - Then when| أتاها - he came to it,| نودي - he was called,| يا - O| موسى - "O Musa,| | ||||||
| 12. [20:12] | Innee ana rabbuka faikhlaAAnaAAlayka innaka bialwadi almuqaddasi tuwan | إني أنا ربك فاخلع نعليك إنك بالواد المقدس طوى إِنِّي أَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک میں ہی تمہارا رب ہوں سو تم اپنے جوتے اتار دو، بیشک تم طوٰی کی مقدس وادی میں ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Verily I am thy Lord! therefore (in My presence) put off thy shoes: thou art in the sacred valley Tuwa.

| Words | |إني - Indeed, [I]| أنا - I Am| ربك - your Lord,| فاخلع - so remove| نعليك - your shoes.| إنك - Indeed, you| بالواد - (are) in the valley| المقدس - the sacred| طوى - (of) Tuwa.| | ||||||
| 13. [20:23] | Linuriyaka min ayatinaalkubra | لنريك من آياتنا الكبرى لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا الْكُبْرَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ اس لئے (کر رہے ہیں) کہ ہم تمہیں اپنی (قدرت کی) بڑی بڑی نشانیاں دکھائیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "In order that We may show thee (two) of our Greater Signs.

| 14. [20:26] | Wayassir lee amree | ويسر لي أمري وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور میرا کارِ (رسالت) میرے لئے آسان فرما دے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Ease my task for me;
| ||||||

| 15. [20:27] | Waohlul AAuqdatan min lisanee | واحلل عقدة من لساني وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور میری زبان کی گرہ کھول دے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "And remove the impediment from my speech,
| ||||||
| Words | |واحلل - And untie| عقدة - (the) knot| من - from| لساني - my tongue| | ||||||

[20:10] | Ith raa naran faqalali-ahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naran laAAallee ateekumminha biqabasin aw ajidu AAala alnnarihudan | إذ رأى نارا فقال لأهله امكثوا إني آنست نارا لعلي آتيكم منها بقبس أو أجد على النار هدى إِذْ رَأَى نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّي آتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى النَّارِ هُدًى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے (مدین سے واپس مصر آتے ہوئے) ایک آگ دیکھی تو انہوں نے اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا: تم یہاں ٹھہرے رہو میں نے ایک آگ دیکھی ہے (یا میں نے ایک آگ میں انس و محبت کا شعلہ پایا ہے) شاید میں اس میں سے کوئی چنگاری تمہارے لئے (بھی) لے آؤں یا میں اس آگ پر (سے وہ) رہنمائی پا لوں (جس کی تلاش میں سرگرداں ہوں) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Behold, he saw a fire: So he said to his family, "Tarry ye; I perceive a fire; perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire."

| Words | |إذ - When| رأى - he saw| نارا - a fire,| فقال - then he said| لأهله - to his family,| امكثوا - "Stay here;| إني - indeed, I| آنست - [I] perceived| نارا - a fire;| لعلي - perhaps I (can)| آتيكم - bring you| منها - therefrom| بقبس - a burning brand,| أو - or| أجد - I find| على - at| النار - the fire| هدى - guidance."| | ||||||
| 17. [20:13] | Waana ikhtartuka faistamiAAlima yooha | وأنا اخترتك فاستمع لما يوحى وَأَنَا اخْتَرْتُكَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور میں نے تمہیں (اپنی رسالت کے لئے) چن لیا ہے پس تم پوری توجہ سے سنو جو تمہیں وحی کی جا رہی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "I have chosen thee: listen, then, to the inspiration (sent to thee).
| ||||||
| Words | |وأنا - And I| اخترتك - (have) chosen you,| فاستمع - so listen| لما - to what| يوحى - is revealed.| | ||||||
| 18. [20:14] | Innanee ana Allahu lailaha illa ana faoAAbudnee waaqimi alssalatalithikree | إنني أنا الله لا إله إلا أنا فاعبدني وأقم الصلاة لذكري إِنَّنِي أَنَا اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِي وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک میں ہی اللہ ہوں میرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں سو تم میری عبادت کیا کرو اور میری یاد کی خاطر نماز قائم کیا کرو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Verily, I am Allah: There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise.

| Words | |إنني - Indeed, [I]| أنا - I Am| الله - Allah.| لا - (There is) no| إله - god| إلا - but| أنا - I,| فاعبدني - so worship Me| وأقم - and establish| الصلاة - the prayer| لذكري - for My remembrance.| | ||||||
| 19. [20:28] | Yafqahoo qawlee | يفقهوا قولي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کہ لوگ میری بات (آسانی سے) سمجھ سکیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "So they may understand what I say:

| 20. [20:30] | Haroona akhee | هارون أخي هَارُونَ أَخِي | |||||

| Yousuf Ali | "Aaron, my brother;

| Words | |هارون - Harun,| أخي - my brother.| | ||||||
| 21. [20:31] | Oshdud bihi azree | اشدد به أزري اشْدُدْ بِهِ أَزْرِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس سے میری کمرِ ہمت مضبوط فرما دے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Add to my strength through him,
| ||||||
| Words | |اشدد - Reinforce| به - through him| أزري - my strength.| | ||||||
| 22. [20:15] | Inna alssaAAata atiyatunakadu okhfeeha litujza kullu nafsin bimatasAAa | إن الساعة آتية أكاد أخفيها لتجزى كل نفس بما تسعى إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک قیامت کی گھڑی آنے والی ہے، میں اسے پوشیدہ رکھنا چاہتا ہوں تاکہ ہر جان کو اس (عمل) کا بدلہ دیا جائے جس کے لئے وہ کوشاں ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour.

| Words | |إن - Indeed,| الساعة - the Hour| آتية - (will be) coming.| أكاد - I almost| أخفيها - [I] hide it| لتجزى - that may be recompensed| كل - every| نفس - soul| بما - for what| تسعى - it strives.| | ||||||
| 23. [20:16] | Fala yasuddannaka AAanhaman la yu/minu biha waittabaAAa hawahufatarda | فلا يصدنك عنها من لا يؤمن بها واتبع هواه فتردى فَلاَ يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَنْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَتَرْدَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس تمہیں وہ شخص اس (کے دھیان) سے روکے نہ رکھے جو (خود) اس پر ایمان نہیں رکھتا اور اپنی خواہشِ (نفس) کا پیرو ہے ورنہ تم (بھی) ہلاک ہوجاؤ گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Therefore let not such as believe not therein but follow their own lusts, divert thee therefrom, lest thou perish!"..

| 24. [20:17] | Wama tilka biyameenika ya moosa | وما تلك بيمينك يا موسى وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَا مُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہ تمہارے داہنے ہاتھ میں کیا ہے اے موسی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "And what is that in the right hand, O Moses?"

| Words | |وما - And what| تلك - (is) that| بيمينك - in your right hand,| يا - O| موسى - O Musa?"| | ||||||
| 25. [20:18] | Qala hiya AAasaya atawakkaoAAalayha waahushshu biha AAala ghanameewaliya feeha maaribu okhra | قال هي عصاي أتوكأ عليها وأهش بها على غنمي ولي فيها مآرب أخرى قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَى غَنَمِي وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَآرِبُ أُخْرَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے کہا: یہ میری لاٹھی ہے، میں اس پر ٹیک لگاتا ہوں اور میں اس سے اپنی بکریوں کے لئے پتے جھاڑتا ہوں اور اس میں میرے لئے کئی اور فائدے بھی ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said, "It is my rod: on it I lean; with it I beat down fodder for my flocks; and in it I find other uses."

| 26. [20:32] | Waashrik-hu fee amree | وأشركه في أمري وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِي أَمْرِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اسے میرے کارِ (رسالت) میں شریک فرما دے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "And make him share my task:

| Words | |وأشركه - And make him share| في - [in]| أمري - my task| | ||||||
| 27. [20:20] | Faalqaha fa-itha hiya hayyatuntasAAa | فألقاها فإذا هي حية تسعى فَأَلْقَاهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ حَيَّةٌ تَسْعَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس انہوں نے اسے (زمین پر) ڈال دیا تو وہ اچانک سانپ ہوگیا (جو ادھر ادھر) دوڑنے لگا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He threw it, and behold! It was a snake, active in motion.
| ||||||
| Words | |فألقاها - So he threw it down,| فإذا - and behold!| هي - It| حية - (was) a snake,| تسعى - moving swiftly.| | ||||||
| 28. [20:21] | Qala khuthha walatakhaf sanuAAeeduha seerataha al-oola | قال خذها ولا تخف سنعيدها سيرتها الأولى قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا الْأُولَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ارشاد فرمایا: اسے پکڑ لو اور مت ڈرو ہم اسے ابھی اس کی پہلی حالت پر لوٹا دیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Allah) said, "Seize it, and fear not: We shall return it at once to its former condition"..

| Words | |قال - He said,| خذها - "Seize it| ولا - and (do) not| تخف - fear.| سنعيدها - We will return it| سيرتها - (to) its state| الأولى - the former.| | ||||||
| 29. [20:22] | Waodmum yadaka ila janahikatakhruj baydaa min ghayri soo-in ayatan okhra | واضمم يدك إلى جناحك تخرج بيضاء من غير سوء آية أخرى وَاضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَى جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ آيَةً أُخْرَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (حکم ہوا:) اپنا ہاتھ اپنی بغل میں دبا لو وہ بغیر کسی بیماری کے سفید چمک دار ہو کر نکلے گا (یہ) دوسری نشانی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Now draw thy hand close to thy side: It shall come forth white (and shining), without harm (or stain),- as another Sign,-

| Words | |واضمم - And draw near| يدك - your hand| إلى - to| جناحك - your side;| تخرج - it will come out| بيضاء - white,| من - without any| غير - without any| سوء - disease| آية - (as) a sign| أخرى - another.| | ||||||
| 30. [20:24] | Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha | اذهب إلى فرعون إنه طغى اذْهَبْ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تم فرعون کے پاس جاؤ وہ (نافرمانی و سرکشی میں) حد سے بڑھ گیا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Go thou to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds."
