| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [33:1] | Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyuittaqi Allaha wala tutiAAi alkafireenawaalmunafiqeena inna Allaha kanaAAaleeman hakeeman |  يا أيها النبي اتق الله ولا تطع الكافرين والمنافقين إن الله كان عليما حكيمايَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اے نبی! آپ اللہ کے تقوٰی پر (حسبِ سابق استقامت سے) قائم رہیں اور کافروں اور منافقوں کا (یہ) کہنا (کہ ہمارے ساتھ مذہبی سمجھوتہ کر لیں ہرگز) نہ مانیں، بیشک اللہ خوب جاننے والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O Prophet! Fear Allah, and hearken not to the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites: verily Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

| 2. [33:2] | WaittabiAA ma yoohailayka min rabbika inna Allaha kana bimataAAmaloona khabeeran | واتبع ما يوحى إليك من ربك إن الله كان بما تعملون خبيرا وَاتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آپ اس (فرمان) کی پیروی جاری رکھیئے جو آپ کے پاس آپ کے رب کی طرف سے وحی کیا جاتا ہے، بیشک اللہ ان کاموں سے خبردار ہے جو تم انجام دیتے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But follow that which comes to thee by inspiration from thy Lord: for Allah is well acquainted with (all) that ye do.

| 3. [33:3] | Watawakkal AAala Allahi wakafabiAllahi wakeelan | وتوكل على الله وكفى بالله وكيلا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اللہ پر بھروسہ (جاری) رکھئے، اور اللہ ہی کارساز کافی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And put thy trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.

[33:37] | Wa-ith taqoolu lillatheeanAAama Allahu AAalayhi waanAAamta AAalayhi amsik AAalaykazawjaka waittaqi Allaha watukhfee fee nafsika maAllahu mubdeehi watakhsha alnnasa waAllahuahaqqu an takhshahu falamma qadazaydun minha wataran zawwajnakahalikay la yakoona AAala almu/mineena harajunfee azwaji adAAiya-ihim itha qadawminhunna wataran wakana amru Allahi mafAAoolan | وإذ تقول للذي أنعم الله عليه وأنعمت عليه أمسك عليك زوجك واتق الله وتخفي في نفسك ما الله مبديه وتخشى الناس والله أحق أن تخشاه فلما قضى زيد منها وطرا زوجناكها لكي لا يكون على المؤمنين حرج في أزواج أدعيائهم إذا قضوا منهن وطرا وكان أمر الله مفعولا وَإِذْ تَقُولُ لِلَّذِي أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَاتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَتُخْفِي فِي نَفْسِكَ مَا اللَّهُ مُبْدِيهِ وَتَخْشَى النَّاسَ وَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَاهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى زَيْدٌ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًا زَوَّجْنَاكَهَا لِكَيْ لَا يَكُونَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَرَجٌ فِي أَزْوَاجِ أَدْعِيَائِهِمْ إِذَا قَضَوْا مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًا وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ مَفْعُولًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اے حبیب!) یاد کیجئے جب آپ نے اس شخص سے فرمایا جس پر اللہ نے انعام فرمایا تھا اور اس پر آپ نے (بھی) اِنعام فرمایا تھا کہ تُو اپنی بیوی (زینب) کو اپنی زوجیت میں روکے رکھ اور اللہ سے ڈر، اور آپ اپنے دل میں وہ بات٭ پوشیدہ رکھ رہے تھے جِسے اللہ ظاہر فرمانے والا تھا اور آپ (دل میں حیاءً) لوگوں (کی طعنہ زنی) کا خوف رکھتے تھے۔ (اے حبیب! لوگوں کو خاطر میں لانے کی کوئی ضرورت نہ تھی) اور فقط اللہ ہی زیادہ حق دار ہے کہ آپ اس کا خوف رکھیں (اور وہ آپ سے بڑھ کر کس میں ہے؟)، پھر جب (آپ کے متبنٰی) زید نے اسے طلاق دینے کی غرض پوری کرلی، تو ہم نے اس سے آپ کا نکاح کر دیا تاکہ مومنوں پر ان کے منہ بولے بیٹوں کی بیویوں (کے ساتھ نکاح) کے بارے میں کوئی حَرج نہ رہے جبکہ (طلاق دے کر) وہ ان سے بے غَرض ہو گئے ہوں، اور اللہ کا حکم تو پورا کیا جانے والا ہی تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: "Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah." But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah's command must be fulfilled.

| 5. [33:42] | Wasabbihoohu bukratan waaseelan | وسبحوه بكرة وأصيلا وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا | |||||

| Yousuf Ali | And glorify Him morning and evening.

[33:50] | Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyuinna ahlalna laka azwajaka allateeatayta ojoorahunna wama malakat yameenuka mimmaafaa Allahu AAalayka wabanati AAammika wabanatiAAammatika wabanati khalika wabanatikhalatika allatee hajarna maAAaka waimraatanmu/minatan in wahabat nafsaha lilnnabiyyi in aradaalnnabiyyu an yastankihaha khalisatanlaka min dooni almu/mineena qad AAalimna ma faradnaAAalayhim fee azwajihim wama malakat aymanuhumlikayla yakoona AAalayka harajun wakana Allahughafooran raheeman | يا أيها النبي إنا أحللنا لك أزواجك اللاتي آتيت أجورهن وما ملكت يمينك مما أفاء الله عليك وبنات عمك وبنات عماتك وبنات خالك وبنات خالاتك اللاتي هاجرن معك وامرأة مؤمنة إن وهبت نفسها للنبي إن أراد النبي أن يستنكحها خالصة لك من دون المؤمنين قد علمنا ما فرضنا عليهم في أزواجهم وما ملكت أيمانهم لكيلا يكون عليك حرج وكان الله غفورا رحيما يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَاجَكَ اللَّاتِي آتَيْتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّاتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالَاتِكَ اللَّاتِي هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَامْرَأَةً مُّؤْمِنَةً إِن وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ إِنْ أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ أَن يَسْتَنكِحَهَا خَالِصَةً لَّكَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِي أَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے نبی! بیشک ہم نے آپ کے لئے آپ کی وہ بیویاں حلال فرما دی ہیں جن کا مہَر آپ نے ادا فرما دیا ہے اور جو (احکامِ الٰہی کے مطابق) آپ کی مملوک ہیں، جو اللہ نے آپ کو مالِ غنیمت میں عطا فرمائی ہیں، اور آپ کے چچا کی بیٹیاں، اور آپ کی پھوپھیوں کی بیٹیاں، اور آپ کے ماموں کی بیٹیاں، اور آپ کی خالاؤں کی بیٹیاں، جنہوں نے آپ کے ساتھ ہجرت کی ہے اور کوئی بھی مؤمنہ عورت بشرطیکہ وہ اپنے آپ کو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے نکاح) کے لئے دے دے اور نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بھی) اسے اپنے نکاح میں لینے کا ارادہ فرمائیں (تو یہ سب آپ کے لئے حلال ہیں)، (یہ حکم) صرف آپ کے لئے خاص ہے (امّت کے) مومنوں کے لئے نہیں، واقعی ہمیں معلوم ہے جو کچھ ہم نے اُن (مسلمانوں) پر اُن کی بیویوں اور ان کی مملوکہ باندیوں کے بارے میں فرض کیا ہے، (مگر آپ کے حق میں تعدّدِ ازواج کی حِلّت کا خصوصی حکم اِس لئے ہے) تاکہ آپ پر (امتّ میں تعلیم و تربیتِ نسواں کے وسیع انتظام میں) کوئی تنگی نہ رہے، اور اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا بڑا رحم فرمانے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[33:53] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tadkhuloo buyoota alnnabiyyi illa an yu/thanalakum ila taAAamin ghayra nathireenainahu walakin itha duAAeetum faodkhuloofa-itha taAAimtum faintashiroo walamusta/niseena lihadeethin inna thalikum kanayu/thee alnnabiyya fayastahyee minkum waAllahula yastahyee mina alhaqqi wa-ithasaaltumoohunna mataAAan fais-aloohunna min wara-ihijabin thalikum atharu liquloobikumwaquloobihinna wama kana lakum an tu/thoorasoola Allahi wala an tankihoo azwajahumin baAAdihi abadan inna thalikum kana AAinda AllahiAAatheeman | يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي إلا أن يؤذن لكم إلى طعام غير ناظرين إناه ولكن إذا دعيتم فادخلوا فإذا طعمتم فانتشروا ولا مستأنسين لحديث إن ذلكم كان يؤذي النبي فيستحيي منكم والله لا يستحيي من الحق وإذا سألتموهن متاعا فاسألوهن من وراء حجاب ذلكم أطهر لقلوبكم وقلوبهن وما كان لكم أن تؤذوا رسول الله ولا أن تنكحوا أزواجه من بعده أبدا إن ذلكم كان عند الله عظيما يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتَ النَّبِيِّ إِلَّا أَن يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاهُ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَادْخُلُوا فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَانتَشِرُوا وَلَا مُسْتَأْنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ إِنَّ ذَلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِي النَّبِيَّ فَيَسْتَحْيِي مِنكُمْ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَاسْأَلُوهُنَّ مِن وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ ذَلِكُمْ أَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمْ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُؤْذُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَا أَن تَنكِحُوا أَزْوَاجَهُ مِن بَعْدِهِ أَبَدًا إِنَّ ذَلِكُمْ كَانَ عِندَ اللَّهِ عَظِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! نبیِ (مکرّم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے گھروں میں داخل نہ ہوا کرو سوائے اس کے کہ تمہیں کھانے کے لئے اجازت دی جائے (پھر وقت سے پہلے پہنچ کر) کھانا پکنے کا انتظار کرنے والے نہ بنا کرو، ہاں جب) تم بلائے جاؤ تو (اس وقت) اندر آیا کرو پھر جب کھانا کھا چکو تو (وہاں سے اُٹھ کر) فوراً منتشر ہوجایا کرو اور وہاں باتوں میں دل لگا کر بیٹھے رہنے والے نہ بنو۔ یقیناً تمہارا ایسے (دیر تک بیٹھے) رہنا نبیِ (اکرم) کو تکلیف دیتا ہے اور وہ تم سے (اُٹھ جانے کا کہتے ہوئے) شرماتے ہیں اور اللہ حق (بات کہنے) سے نہیں شرماتا، اور جب تم اُن (اَزواجِ مطّہرات) سے کوئی سامان مانگو تو اُن سے پسِ پردہ پوچھا کرو، یہ (ادب) تمہارے دلوں کے لئے اور ان کے دلوں کے لئے بڑی طہارت کا سبب ہے، اور تمہارے لئے (ہرگز جائز) نہیں کہ تم رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو تکلیف پہنچاؤ اور نہ یہ (جائز) ہے کہ تم اُن کے بعد ابَد تک اُن کی اَزواجِ (مطّہرات) سے نکاح کرو، بیشک یہ اللہ کے نزدیک بہت بڑا (گناہ) ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses,- until leave is given you,- for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth. And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs. Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy Allah's Messenger, or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in Allah's sight an enormity.

[33:4] | Ma jaAAala Allahu lirajulin minqalbayni fee jawfihi wama jaAAala azwajakumu alla-eetuthahiroona minhunna ommahatikum wamajaAAala adAAiyaakum abnaakum thalikumqawlukum bi-afwahikum waAllahu yaqoolu alhaqqawahuwa yahdee alssabeela | ما جعل الله لرجل من قلبين في جوفه وما جعل أزواجكم اللائي تظاهرون منهن أمهاتكم وما جعل أدعياءكم أبناءكم ذلكم قولكم بأفواهكم والله يقول الحق وهو يهدي السبيل مَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِّن قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَاجَكُمُ اللَّائِي تُظَاهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَاءَكُمْ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ ذَلِكُمْ قَوْلُكُم بِأَفْوَاهِكُمْ وَاللَّهُ يَقُولُ الْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِي السَّبِيلَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ نے کسی آدمی کے لئے اس کے پہلو میں دو دل نہیں بنائے، اور اس نے تمہاری بیویوں کو جنہیں تم ظِہار کرتے ہوئے ماں کہہ دیتے ہو تمہاری مائیں نہیں بنایا، اور نہ تمہارے منہ بولے بیٹوں کو تمہارے (حقیقی) بیٹے بنایا، یہ سب تمہارے منہ کی اپنی باتیں ہیں، اور اللہ حق بات فرماتا ہے، اور وہی (سیدھا) راستہ دکھاتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Allah has not made for any man two hearts in his (one) body: nor has He made your wives whom ye divorce by Zihar your mothers: nor has He made your adopted sons your sons. Such is (only) your (manner of) speech by your mouths. But Allah tells (you) the Truth, and He shows the (right) Way.

[33:5] | OdAAoohum li-aba-ihim huwa aqsatuAAinda Allahi fa-in lam taAAlamoo abaahumfa-ikhwanukum fee alddeeni wamawaleekumwalaysa AAalaykum junahun feema akhta/tumbihi walakin ma taAAammadat quloobukum wakanaAllahu ghafooran raheeman | ادعوهم لآبائهم هو أقسط عند الله فإن لم تعلموا آباءهم فإخوانكم في الدين ومواليكم وليس عليكم جناح فيما أخطأتم به ولكن ما تعمدت قلوبكم وكان الله غفورا رحيما ادْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ اللَّهِ فَإِن لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوا آبَاءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَمَوَالِيكُمْ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا أَخْطَأْتُم بِهِ وَلَكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تم اُن (منہ بولے بیٹوں) کو ان کے باپ (ہی کے نام) سے پکارا کرو، یہی اللہ کے نزدیک زیادہ عدل ہے، پھر اگر تمہیں ان کے باپ معلوم نہ ہوں تو (وہ) دین میں تمہارے بھائی ہیں اور تمہارے دوست ہیں۔ اور اس بات میں تم پر کوئی گناہ نہیں جو تم نے غلطی سے کہی لیکن (اس پر ضرور گناہ ہوگا) جس کا ارادہ تمہارے دلوں نے کیا ہو، اور اللہ بہت بخشنے والا بہت رحم فرمانے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Call them by (the names of) their fathers: that is juster in the sight of Allah. But if ye know not their father's (names, call them) your Brothers in faith, or your maulas. But there is no blame on you if ye make a mistake therein: (what counts is) the intention of your hearts: and Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

[33:6] | Alnnabiyyu awla bialmu/mineenamin anfusihim waazwajuhu ommahatuhum waoloo al-arhamibaAAduhum awla bibaAAdin fee kitabiAllahi mina almu/mineena waalmuhajireena illaan tafAAaloo ila awliya-ikum maAAroofan kanathalika fee alkitabi mastooran | النبي أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم وأزواجه أمهاتهم وأولو الأرحام بعضهم أولى ببعض في كتاب الله من المؤمنين والمهاجرين إلا أن تفعلوا إلى أوليائكم معروفا كان ذلك في الكتاب مسطورا النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ وَأُوْلُواْ الْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُهَاجِرِينَ إِلَّا أَن تَفْعَلُوا إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُم مَّعْرُوفًا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ نبیِ (مکرّم) مومنوں کے ساتھ اُن کی جانوں سے زیادہ قریب اور حق دار ہیں اور آپ کی اَزواجِ (مطہّرات) اُن کی مائیں ہیں، اور خونی رشتہ دار اللہ کی کتاب میں (دیگر) مومنین اور مہاجرین کی نسبت (تقسیمِ وراثت میں) ایک دوسرے کے زیادہ حق دار ہیں سوائے اس کے کہ تم اپنے دوستوں پر احسان کرنا چاہو، یہ حکم کتابِ (الٰہی) میں لکھا ہوا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. Blood-relations among each other have closer personal ties, in the Decree of Allah. Than (the Brotherhood of) Believers and Muhajirs: nevertheless do ye what is just to your closest friends: such is the writing in the Decree (of Allah).

[33:7] | Wa-ith akhathna mina alnnabiyyeenameethaqahum waminka wamin noohin wa-ibraheemawamoosa waAAeesa ibni maryama waakhathnaminhum meethaqan ghaleethan | وإذ أخذنا من النبيين ميثاقهم ومنك ومن نوح وإبراهيم وموسى وعيسى ابن مريم وأخذنا منهم ميثاقا غليظا وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِيثَاقَهُمْ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى وَعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اے حبیب! یاد کیجئے) جب ہم نے انبیاء سے اُن (کی تبلیغِ رسالت) کا عہد لیا اور (خصوصاً) آپ سے اور نوح سے اور ابراہیم سے اور موسیٰ سے اور عیسٰی ابن مریم (علیھم السلام) سے اور ہم نے اُن سے نہایت پختہ عہد لیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And remember We took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn covenant:

| 12. [33:8] | Liyas-ala alssadiqeena AAan sidqihimwaaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban aleeman | ليسأل الصادقين عن صدقهم وأعد للكافرين عذابا أليما لِّيَسْأَلَ الصَّادِقِينَ عَن صِدْقِهِمْ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تاکہ (اللہ) سچوں سے اُن کے سچ کے بارے میں دریافت فرمائے، اور اس نے کافروں کے لئے دردناک عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | That (Allah) may question the (custodians) of Truth concerning the Truth they (were charged with): And He has prepared for the Unbelievers a grievous Penalty.

[33:10] | Ith jaookum min fawqikum waminasfala minkum wa-ith zaghati al-absaruwabalaghati alquloobu alhanajira watathunnoonabiAllahi alththunoona | إذ جاءوكم من فوقكم ومن أسفل منكم وإذ زاغت الأبصار وبلغت القلوب الحناجر وتظنون بالله الظنونا إِذْ جَاؤُوكُم مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ الْأَبْصَارُ وَبَلَغَتِ الْقُلُوبُ الْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِاللَّهِ الظُّنُونَا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب وہ (کافر) تمہارے اوپر (وادی کی بالائی مشرقی جانب) سے اور تمہارے نیچے (وادی کی زیریں مغربی جانب) سے چڑھ آئے تھے اور جب (ہیبت سے تمہاری) آنکھیں پھر گئی تھیں اور (دہشت سے تمہارے) دل حلقوم تک آپہنچے تھے اور تم (خوف و امید کی کیفیت میں) اللہ کی نسبت مختلف گمان کرنے لگے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Behold! they came on you from above you and from below you, and behold, the eyes became dim and the hearts gaped up to the throats, and ye imagined various (vain) thoughts about Allah!

[33:9] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooothkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith jaatkumjunoodun faarsalna AAalayhim reehan wajunoodan lamtarawha wakana Allahu bimataAAmaloona baseeran | يا أيها الذين آمنوا اذكروا نعمة الله عليكم إذ جاءتكم جنود فأرسلنا عليهم ريحا وجنودا لم تروها وكان الله بما تعملون بصيرا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَاءَتْكُمْ جُنُودٌ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا وَجُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! اپنے اوپر اللہ کا احسان یاد کرو جب (کفار کی) فوجیں تم پر آپہنچیں، تو ہم نے ان پر ہوا اور (فرشتوں کے) لشکروں کو بھیجا جنہیں تم نے نہیں دیکھا اور جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو اللہ اسے خوب دیکھنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! Remember the Grace of Allah, (bestowed) on you, when there came down on you hosts (to overwhelm you): But We sent against them a hurricane and forces that ye saw not: but Allah sees (clearly) all that ye do.

| 15. [33:11] | Hunalika ibtuliya almu-minoonawazulziloo zilzalan shadeedan | هنالك ابتلي المؤمنون وزلزلوا زلزالا شديدا هُنَالِكَ ابْتُلِيَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اُس مقام پر مومنوں کی آزمائش کی گئی اور انہیں نہایت سخت جھٹکے دئیے گئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | In that situation were the Believers tried: they were shaken as by a tremendous shaking.

[33:12] | Wa-ith yaqoolu almunafiqoonawaallatheena fee quloobihim maradun mawaAAadana Allahu warasooluhu illa ghurooran | وإذ يقول المنافقون والذين في قلوبهم مرض ما وعدنا الله ورسوله إلا غرورا وَإِذْ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ مَّا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب منافق لوگ اور وہ لوگ جن کے دلوں میں (کمزورئ عقیدہ اور شک و شبہ کی) بیماری تھی، یہ کہنے لگے کہ ہم سے اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے صرف دھوکہ اور فریب کے لئے (فتح کا) وعدہ کیا تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And behold! The Hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease (even) say: "Allah and His Messenger promised us nothing but delusion!"

[33:13] | Wa-ith qalat ta-ifatunminhum ya ahla yathriba la muqama lakum fairjiAAoowayasta/thinu fareequn minhumu alnnabiyyayaqooloona inna buyootana AAawratun wama hiyabiAAawratin in yureedoona illa firaran | وإذ قالت طائفة منهم يا أهل يثرب لا مقام لكم فارجعوا ويستأذن فريق منهم النبي يقولون إن بيوتنا عورة وما هي بعورة إن يريدون إلا فرارا وَإِذْ قَالَت طَّائِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ يَا أَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَارْجِعُوا وَيَسْتَأْذِنُ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمُ النَّبِيَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوْرَةٌ وَمَا هِيَ بِعَوْرَةٍ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جبکہ اُن میں سے ایک گروہ کہنے لگا: اے اہلِ یثرب! تمہارے (بحفاظت) ٹھہرنے کی کوئی جگہ نہیں رہی، تم واپس (گھروں کو) چلے جاؤ، اور ان میں سے ایک گروہ نبی (اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے یہ کہتے ہوئے (واپس جانے کی) اجازت مانگنے لگا کہ ہمارے گھر کھلے پڑے ہیں، حالانکہ وہ کھلے نہ تھے، وہ (اس بہانے سے) صرف فرار چاہتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Behold! A party among them said: "Ye men of Yathrib! ye cannot stand (the attack)! therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for leave of the Prophet, saying, "Truly our houses are bare and exposed," though they were not exposed they intended nothing but to run away.

| Words | |وإذ - And when| قالت - said| طائفة - a party| منهم - of them,| يا - O| أهل - "O People| يثرب - (of) Yathrib!| لا - No| مقام - stand| لكم - for you,| فارجعوا - so return."| ويستأذن - And asked permission| فريق - a group| منهم - of them| النبي - (from) the Prophet,| يقولون - saying,| إن - "Indeed,| بيوتنا - our houses| عورة - (are) exposed,"| وما - and not| هي - they| بعورة - (were) exposed.| إن - Not| يريدون - they wished| إلا - but| فرارا - to flee.| | ||||||

[33:14] | Walaw dukhilat AAalayhim min aqtarihathumma su-iloo alfitnata laatawha wamatalabbathoo biha illa yaseeran | ولو دخلت عليهم من أقطارها ثم سئلوا الفتنة لآتوها وما تلبثوا بها إلا يسيرا وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا الْفِتْنَةَ لَآتَوْهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُوا بِهَا إِلَّا يَسِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر ان پر مدینہ کے اَطراف و اَکناف سے فوجیں داخل کر دی جاتیں پھر اِن (نِفاق کا عقیدہ رکھنے والوں) سے فتنۂ (کفر و شرک) کا سوال کیا جاتا تو وہ اس (مطالبہ) کو بھی پورا کر دیتے، اور تھوڑے سے توقّف کے سوا اس میں تاخیر نہ کرتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And if an entry had been effected to them from the sides of the (city), and they had been incited to sedition, they would certainly have brought it to pass, with none but a brief delay!

| 19. [33:15] | Walaqad kanoo AAahadoo Allahamin qablu la yuwalloona al-adbara wakanaAAahdu Allahi mas-oolan | ولقد كانوا عاهدوا الله من قبل لا يولون الأدبار وكان عهد الله مسئولا وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ الْأَدْبَارَ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ اللَّهِ مَسْؤُولًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک انہوں نے اس سے پہلے اللہ سے عہد کر رکھا تھا کہ پیٹھ پھیر کر نہ بھاگیں گے، اور اللہ سے کیے ہوئے عہد کی (ضرور) باز پُرس ہوگی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And yet they had already covenanted with Allah not to turn their backs, and a covenant with Allah must (surely) be answered for.

[33:16] | Qul lan yanfaAAakumu alfiraru infarartum mina almawti awi alqatli wa-ithan latumattaAAoona illa qaleelan | قل لن ينفعكم الفرار إن فررتم من الموت أو القتل وإذا لا تمتعون إلا قليلا قُل لَّن يَنفَعَكُمُ الْفِرَارُ إِن فَرَرْتُم مِّنَ الْمَوْتِ أَوِ الْقَتْلِ وَإِذًا لَّا تُمَتَّعُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | فرما دیجئے: تمہیں فرار ہرگز کوئی نفع نہ دے گا، اگر تم موت یا قتل سے (ڈر کر) بھاگے ہو تو تم تھوڑی سی مدت کے سوا (زندگانی کا) کوئی فائدہ نہ اٹھا سکو گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say: "Running away will not profit you if ye are running away from death or slaughter; and even if (ye do escape), no more than a brief (respite) will ye be allowed to enjoy!"

[33:18] | Qad yaAAlamu Allahu almuAAawwiqeenaminkum waalqa-ileena li-ikhwanihim halummailayna wala ya/toona alba/sa illa qaleelan | قد يعلم الله المعوقين منكم والقائلين لإخوانهم هلم إلينا ولا يأتون البأس إلا قليلا قَدْ يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ الْمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنكُمْ وَالْقَائِلِينَ لِإِخْوَانِهِمْ هَلُمَّ إِلَيْنَا وَلَا يَأْتُونَ الْبَأْسَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک اﷲ تم میں سے ان لوگوں کو جانتا ہے جو (رسول سے اور ان کی معیّت میں جہاد سے) روکتے ہیں اور جو اپنے بھائیوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ ہماری طرف آجاؤ، اور یہ لوگ لڑائی میں نہیں آتے مگر بہت ہی کم | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily Allah knows those among you who keep back (men) and those who say to their brethren, "Come along to us", but come not to the fight except for just a little while.

[33:17] | Qul man tha allathee yaAAsimukummina Allahi in arada bikum soo-an aw aradabikum rahmatan wala yajidoona lahum min dooni Allahiwaliyyan wala naseeran | قل من ذا الذي يعصمكم من الله إن أراد بكم سوءا أو أراد بكم رحمة ولا يجدون لهم من دون الله وليا ولا نصيرا قُلْ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَعْصِمُكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوءًا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَةً وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | فرما دیجئے: کون ایسا شخص ہے جو تمہیں اللہ سے بچا سکتا ہے اگر وہ تمہیں تکلیف دینا چاہے یا تم پر رحمت کا ارادہ فرمائے، اور وہ لوگ اپنے لئے اللہ کے سوا نہ کوئی کارساز پائیں گے اور نہ کوئی مددگار | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say: "Who is it that can screen you from Allah if it be His wish to give you punishment or to give you Mercy?" Nor will they find for themselves, besides Allah, any protector or helper.

[33:21] | Laqad kana lakum fee rasooli Allahioswatun hasanatun liman kana yarjoo Allahawaalyawma al-akhira wathakara Allahakatheeran | لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة لمن كان يرجو الله واليوم الآخر وذكر الله كثيرا لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | فی الحقیقت تمہارے لئے رسول اﷲ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی ذات) میں نہایت ہی حسین نمونۂ (حیات) ہے ہر اُس شخص کے لئے جو اﷲ (سے ملنے) کی اور یومِ آخرت کی امید رکھتا ہے اور اﷲ کا ذکر کثرت سے کرتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.

[33:19] | Ashihhatan AAalaykum fa-itha jaaalkhawfu raaytahum yanthuroona ilayka tadooruaAAyunuhum kaallathee yughsha AAalayhi minaalmawti fa-itha thahaba alkhawfu salaqookumbi-alsinatin hidadin ashihhatan AAalaalkhayri ola-ika lam yu/minoo faahbata AllahuaAAmalahum wakana thalika AAala Allahiyaseeran | أشحة عليكم فإذا جاء الخوف رأيتهم ينظرون إليك تدور أعينهم كالذي يغشى عليه من الموت فإذا ذهب الخوف سلقوكم بألسنة حداد أشحة على الخير أولئك لم يؤمنوا فأحبط الله أعمالهم وكان ذلك على الله يسيرا أَشِحَّةً عَلَيْكُمْ فَإِذَا جَاءَ الْخَوْفُ رَأَيْتَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ تَدُورُ أَعْيُنُهُمْ كَالَّذِي يُغْشَى عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ الْخَوْفُ سَلَقُوكُم بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى الْخَيْرِ أُوْلَئِكَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا فَأَحْبَطَ اللَّهُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تمہارے حق میں بخیل ہو کر (ایسا کرتے ہیں)، پھر جب خوف (کی حالت) پیش آجائے تو آپ دیکھیں گے کہ وہ آپ کی طرف تکتے ہوں گے (اور) ان کی آنکھیں اس شخص کی طرح گھومتی ہوں گی جس پر موت کی غشی طاری ہو رہی ہو، پھر جب خوف جاتا رہے تو تمہیں تیز زبانوں کے ساتھ طعنے دیں گے (آزردہ کریں گے، ان کا حال یہ ہے کہ) مالِ غنیمت پر بڑے حریص ہیں۔ یہ لوگ (حقیقت میں) ایمان ہی نہیں لائے، سو اﷲ نے ان کے اعمال ضبط کر لئے ہیں اور یہ اﷲ پر آسان تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Covetous over you. Then when fear comes, thou wilt see them looking to thee, their eyes revolving, like (those of) one over whom hovers death: but when the fear is past, they will smite you with sharp tongues, covetous of goods. Such men have no faith, and so Allah has made their deeds of none effect: and that is easy for Allah.

[33:20] | Yahsaboona al-ahzabalam yathhaboo wa-in ya/ti al-ahzabu yawaddoolaw annahum badoona fee al-aAArabi yas-aloona AAananba-ikum walaw kanoo feekum ma qatalooilla qaleelan | يحسبون الأحزاب لم يذهبوا وإن يأت الأحزاب يودوا لو أنهم بادون في الأعراب يسألون عن أنبائكم ولو كانوا فيكم ما قاتلوا إلا قليلا يَحْسَبُونَ الْأَحْزَابَ لَمْ يَذْهَبُوا وَإِن يَأْتِ الْأَحْزَابُ يَوَدُّوا لَوْ أَنَّهُم بَادُونَ فِي الْأَعْرَابِ يَسْأَلُونَ عَنْ أَنبَائِكُمْ وَلَوْ كَانُوا فِيكُم مَّا قَاتَلُوا إِلَّا قَلِيلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ لوگ (ابھی تک یہ) گمان کرتے ہیں کہ کافروں کے لشکر (واپس) نہیں گئے اور اگر وہ لشکر (دوبارہ) آجائیں تو یہ چاہیں گے کہ کاش وہ دیہاتیوں میں جا کر بادیہ نشین ہو جائیں (اور) تمہاری خبریں دریافت کرتے رہیں، اور اگر وہ تمہارے اندر موجود ہوں تو بھی بہت ہی کم لوگوں کے سوا وہ جنگ نہیں کریں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They think that the Confederates have not withdrawn; and if the Confederates should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, and seeking news about you (from a safe distance); and if they were in your midst, they would fight but little.

[33:24] | Liyajziya Allahu alssadiqeenabisidqihim wayuAAaththiba almunafiqeena inshaa aw yatooba AAalayhim inna Allaha kanaghafooran raheeman | ليجزي الله الصادقين بصدقهم ويعذب المنافقين إن شاء أو يتوب عليهم إن الله كان غفورا رحيما لِّيَجْزِيَ اللَّهُ الصَّادِقِينَ بِصِدْقِهِمْ وَيُعَذِّبَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ إِن شَاءَ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ) اس لئے کہ اﷲ سچے لوگوں کو ان کی سچائی کا بدلہ دے اور منافقوں کو چاہے تو عذاب دے یا ان کی توبہ قبول فرما لے۔ بیشک اﷲ بڑا بخشنے والا بڑا رحم فرمانے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | That Allah may reward the men of Truth for their Truth, and punish the Hypocrites if that be His Will, or turn to them in Mercy: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[33:22] | Walamma raa almu/minoona al-ahzabaqaloo hatha ma waAAadana Allahuwarasooluhu wasadaqa Allahu warasooluhu wamazadahum illa eemanan watasleeman | ولما رأى المؤمنون الأحزاب قالوا هذا ما وعدنا الله ورسوله وصدق الله ورسوله وما زادهم إلا إيمانا وتسليما وَلَمَّا رَأَى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الْأَحْزَابَ قَالُوا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَصَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّا إِيْمَانًا وَتَسْلِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب اہلِ ایمان نے (کافروں کے) لشکر دیکھے تو بول اٹھے کہ یہ ہے جس کا اﷲ اور اس کے رسول نے ہم سے وعدہ فرمایا تھا اور اﷲ اور اس کے رسول نے سچ فرمایا ہے، سو اس (منظر) سے ان کے ایمان اور اطاعت گزاری میں اضافہ ہی ہوا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When the Believers saw the Confederate forces, they said: "This is what Allah and his Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true." And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience.

[33:25] | Waradda Allahu allatheenakafaroo bighaythihim lam yanaloo khayranwakafa Allahu almu/mineena alqitala wakanaAllahu qawiyyan AAazeezan | ورد الله الذين كفروا بغيظهم لم ينالوا خيرا وكفى الله المؤمنين القتال وكان الله قويا عزيزا وَرَدَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوا خَيْرًا وَكَفَى اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْقِتَالَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اﷲ نے کافروں کو ان کے غصّہ کی جلن کے ساتھ (مدینہ سے نامراد) واپس لوٹا دیا کہ وہ کوئی کامیابی نہ پا سکے، اور اﷲ ایمان والوں کے لئے جنگِ (احزاب) میں کافی ہوگیا، اور اﷲ بڑی قوت والا عزت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And Allah turned back the Unbelievers for (all) their fury: no advantage did they gain; and enough is Allah for the believers in their fight. And Allah is full of Strength, able to enforce His Will.

[33:23] | Mina almu/mineena rijalun sadaqooma AAahadoo Allaha AAalayhi faminhum man qadanahbahu waminhum man yantathiru wamabaddaloo tabdeelan | من المؤمنين رجال صدقوا ما عاهدوا الله عليه فمنهم من قضى نحبه ومنهم من ينتظر وما بدلوا تبديلا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | مومنوں میں سے (بہت سے) مَردوں نے وہ بات سچ کر دکھائی جس پر انہوں نے اﷲ سے عہد کیا تھا، پس ان میں سے کوئی (تو شہادت پا کر) اپنی نذر پوری کر چکا ہے اور ان میں سے کوئی (اپنی باری کا) انتظار کر رہا ہے، مگر انہوں نے (اپنے عہد میں) ذرا بھی تبدیلی نہیں کی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah: of them some have completed their vow (to the extreme), and some (still) wait: but they have never changed (their determination) in the least:

[33:26] | Waanzala allatheena thaharoohummin ahli alkitabi min sayaseehim waqathafafee quloobihimu alrruAAba fareeqan taqtuloona wata/siroonafareeqan | وأنزل الذين ظاهروهم من أهل الكتاب من صياصيهم وقذف في قلوبهم الرعب فريقا تقتلون وتأسرون فريقا وَأَنزَلَ الَّذِينَ ظَاهَرُوهُم مِّنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الرُّعْبَ فَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (بنو قُرَیظہ کے) جن اہلِ کتاب نے ان (کافروں) کی مدد کی تھی اﷲ نے انہیں (بھی) ان کے قلعوں سے اتار دیا اور ان کے دلوں میں (اسلام کا) رعب ڈال دیا، تم (ان میں سے) ایک گروہ کو (ان کے جنگی جرائم کی پاداش میں) قتل کرتے ہو اور ایک گروہ کو جنگی قیدی بناتے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And those of the People of the Book who aided them - Allah did take them down from their strongholds and cast terror into their hearts. (So that) some ye slew, and some ye made prisoners.
