| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [9:25] | Laqad nasarakumu Allahu feemawatina katheeratin wayawma hunaynin ithaAAjabatkum kathratukum falam tughni AAankum shay-an wadaqatAAalaykumu al-ardu bima rahubat thummawallaytum mudbireena |  لقد نصركم الله في مواطن كثيرة ويوم حنين إذ أعجبتكم كثرتكم فلم تغن عنكم شيئا وضاقت عليكم الأرض بما رحبت ثم وليتم مدبرينلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللّهُ فِي مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٍ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنكُمْ شَيْئًا وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِينَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک اللہ نے بہت سے مقامات میں تمہاری مدد فرمائی اور (خصوصاً) حنین کے دن جب تمہاری (افرادی قوت کی) کثرت نے تمہیں نازاں بنا دیا تھا پھر وہ (کثرت) تمہیں کچھ بھی نفع نہ دے سکی اور زمین باجود اس کے کہ وہ فراخی رکھتی تھی، تم پر تنگ ہو گئی چنانچہ تم پیٹھ دکھاتے ہوئے پھر گئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Assuredly Allah did help you in many battle-fields and on the day of Hunain: Behold! your great numbers elated you, but they availed you naught: the land, for all that it is wide, did constrain you, and ye turned back in retreat.

| 2. [9:41] | Infiroo khifafan wathiqalanwajahidoo bi-amwalikum waanfusikum fee sabeeli Allahithalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona | انفروا خفافا وثقالا وجاهدوا بأموالكم وأنفسكم في سبيل الله ذلكم خير لكم إن كنتم تعلمون انْفِرُواْ خِفَافًا وَثِقَالاً وَجَاهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تم ہلکے اور گراں بار (ہر حال میں) نکل کھڑے ہو اور اپنے مال و جان سے اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرو، یہ تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے اگر تم (حقیقت) آشنا ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Go ye forth, (whether equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle, with your goods and your persons, in the cause of Allah. That is best for you, if ye (but) knew.

[9:26] | Thumma anzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAalarasoolihi waAAala almu/mineena waanzala junoodan lamtarawha waAAaththaba allatheena kafaroo wathalikajazao alkafireena | ثم أنزل الله سكينته على رسوله وعلى المؤمنين وأنزل جنودا لم تروها وعذب الذين كفروا وذلك جزاء الكافرين ثُمَّ أَنَزلَ اللّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعذَّبَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَذَلِكَ جَزَاءُ الْكَافِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر اللہ نے اپنے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر اور ایمان والوں پر اپنی تسکین (رحمت) نازل فرمائی اور اس نے (ملائکہ کے ایسے) لشکر اتارے جنہیں تم نہ دیکھ سکے اور اس نے ان لوگوں کو عذاب دیا جو کفر کر رہے تھے، اور یہی کافروں کی سزا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But Allah did pour His calm on the Messenger and on the Believers, and sent down forces which ye saw not: He punished the Unbelievers; thus doth He reward those without Faith.

| 4. [9:43] | AAafa Allahu AAanka lima athintalahum hatta yatabayyana laka allatheena sadaqoowataAAlama alkathibeena | عفا الله عنك لم أذنت لهم حتى يتبين لك الذين صدقوا وتعلم الكاذبين عَفَا اللّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَتَعْلَمَ الْكَاذِبِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ آپ کو سلامت (اور باعزت و عافیت) رکھے، آپ نے انہیں رخصت (ہی) کیوں دی (کہ وہ شریکِ جنگ نہ ہوں) یہاں تک کہ وہ لوگ (بھی) آپ کے لئے ظاہر ہو جاتے جو سچ بول رہے تھے اور آپ جھوٹ بولنے والوں کو (بھی) معلوم فرما لیتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Allah give thee grace! why didst thou grant them until those who told the truth were seen by thee in a clear light, and thou hadst proved the liars?

[9:28] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooinnama almushrikoona najasun fala yaqrabooalmasjida alharama baAAda AAamihim hathawa-in khiftum AAaylatan fasawfa yughneekumu Allahu min fadlihiin shaa inna Allaha AAaleemun hakeemun | يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام بعد عامهم هذا وإن خفتم عيلة فسوف يغنيكم الله من فضله إن شاء إن الله عليم حكيم يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌ فَلاَ يَقْرَبُواْ الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَـذَا وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةً فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيكُمُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ إِن شَاءَ إِنَّ اللّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! مشرکین تو سراپا نجاست ہیں سو وہ اپنے اس سال کے بعد (یعنی فتحِ مکہ کے بعد 9 ھ سے) مسجدِ حرام کے قریب نہ آنے پائیں، اور اگر تمہیں (تجارت میں کمی کے باعث) مفلسی کا ڈر ہے تو (گھبراؤ نہیں) عنقریب اللہ اگر چاہے گا تو تمہیں اپنے فضل سے مال دار کر دے گا، بیشک اللہ خوب جاننے والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! Truly the Pagans are unclean; so let them not, after this year of theirs, approach the Sacred Mosque. And if ye fear poverty, soon will Allah enrich you, if He wills, out of His bounty, for Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

| 6. [9:29] | Qatiloo allatheena layu/minoona biAllahi wala bialyawmial-akhiri wala yuharrimoona ma harramaAllahu warasooluhu wala yadeenoona deena alhaqqimina allatheena ootoo alkitaba hattayuAAtoo aljizyata AAan yadin wahum saghiroona | قاتلوا الذين لا يؤمنون بالله ولا باليوم الآخر ولا يحرمون ما حرم الله ورسوله ولا يدينون دين الحق من الذين أوتوا الكتاب حتى يعطوا الجزية عن يد وهم صاغرون قَاتِلُواْ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَلاَ بِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَلاَ يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَلاَ يَدِينُونَ دِينَ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ حَتَّى يُعْطُواْ الْجِزْيَةَ عَن يَدٍ وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے مسلمانو!) تم اہلِ کتاب میں سے ان لوگوں کے ساتھ (بھی) جنگ کرو جو نہ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں نہ یومِ آخرت پر اور نہ ان چیزوں کو حرام جانتے ہیں جنہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حرام قرار دیا ہے اور نہ ہی دینِ حق (یعنی اسلام) اختیار کرتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ وہ (حکمِ اسلام کے سامنے) تابع و مغلوب ہو کر اپنے ہاتھ سے خراج ادا کریں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

[9:30] | Waqalati alyahoodu AAuzayrun ibnu Allahiwaqalati alnnasara almaseehuibnu Allahi thalika qawluhum bi-afwahihim yudahi-oonaqawla allatheena kafaroo min qablu qatalahumu Allahuanna yu/fakoona | وقالت اليهود عزير ابن الله وقالت النصارى المسيح ابن الله ذلك قولهم بأفواههم يضاهئون قول الذين كفروا من قبل قاتلهم الله أنى يؤفكون وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللّهِ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللّهِ ذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ يُضَاهِؤُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبْلُ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللّهُ أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہود نے کہا: عزیر (علیہ السلام) اللہ کے بیٹے ہیں اور نصارٰی نے کہا: مسیح (علیہ السلام) اللہ کے بیٹے ہیں۔ یہ ان کا (لغو) قول ہے جو اپنے مونہہ سے نکالتے ہیں۔ یہ ان لوگوں کے قول سے مشابہت (اختیار) کرتے ہیں جو (ان سے) پہلے کفر کر چکے ہیں، اللہ انہیں ہلاک کرے یہ کہاں بہکے پھرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

[9:44] | La yasta/thinuka allatheenayu/minoona biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhirian yujahidoo bi-amwalihim waanfusihim waAllahuAAaleemun bialmuttaqeena | لا يستأذنك الذين يؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر أن يجاهدوا بأموالهم وأنفسهم والله عليم بالمتقين لاَ يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَن يُجَاهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالْمُتَّقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ لوگ جو اللہ پر اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں آپ سے (اس بات کی) رخصت طلب نہیں کریں گے کہ وہ اپنے مال و جان سے جہاد (نہ) کریں، اور اللہ پرہیزگاروں کو خوب جانتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day ask thee for no exemption from fighting with their goods and persons. And Allah knoweth well those who do their duty.

[9:31] | Ittakhathoo ahbarahumwaruhbanahum arbaban min dooni Allahi waalmaseehaibna maryama wama omiroo illa liyaAAbudoo ilahanwahidan la ilaha illa huwa subhanahuAAamma yushrikoona | اتخذوا أحبارهم ورهبانهم أربابا من دون الله والمسيح ابن مريم وما أمروا إلا ليعبدوا إلها واحدا لا إله إلا هو سبحانه عما يشركون اتَّخَذُواْ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ وَالْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا أُمِرُواْ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُواْ إِلَـهًا وَاحِدًا لاَّ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے اللہ کے سوا اپنے عالموں اور زاہدوں کو رب بنا لیا تھا اور مریم کے بیٹے مسیح (علیہ السلام) کو (بھی) حالانکہ انہیں بجز اس کے (کوئی) حکم نہیں دیا گیا تھا کہ وہ اکیلے ایک (ہی) معبود کی عبادت کریں، جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ ان سے پاک ہے جنہیں یہ شریک ٹھہراتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One Allah: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).

[9:45] | Innama yasta/thinuka allatheenala yu/minoona biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiriwairtabat quloobuhum fahum fee raybihimyataraddadoona | إنما يستأذنك الذين لا يؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر وارتابت قلوبهم فهم في ريبهم يترددون إِنَّمَا يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَارْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | آپ سے (جہاد میں شریک نہ ہونے کی) رخصت صرف وہی لوگ چاہیں گے جو اللہ پر اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے اور ان کے دل شک میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں سو وہ اپنے شک میں حیران و سرگرداں ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Only those ask thee for exemption who believe not in Allah and the Last Day, and whose hearts are in doubt, so that they are tossed in their doubts to and fro.

[9:34] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooinna katheeran mina al-ahbari waalrruhbanilaya/kuloona amwala alnnasi bialbatiliwayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waallatheenayaknizoona alththahaba waalfiddatawala yunfiqoonaha fee sabeeli Allahifabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin | يا أيها الذين آمنوا إن كثيرا من الأحبار والرهبان ليأكلون أموال الناس بالباطل ويصدون عن سبيل الله والذين يكنزون الذهب والفضة ولا ينفقونها في سبيل الله فبشرهم بعذاب أليم يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! بیشک (اہلِ کتاب کے) اکثر علماء اور درویش، لوگوں کے مال ناحق (طریقے سے) کھاتے ہیں اور اللہ کی راہ سے روکتے ہیں (یعنی لوگوں کے مال سے اپنی تجوریاں بھرتے ہیں اور دینِ حق کی تقویت و اشاعت پر خرچ کئے جانے سے روکتے ہیں)، اور جو لوگ سونا اور چاندی کا ذخیرہ کرتے ہیں اور اسے اللہ کی راہ میں خرچ نہیں کرتے تو انہیں دردناک عذاب کی خبر سنا دیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! there are indeed many among the priests and anchorites, who in Falsehood devour the substance of men and hinder (them) from the way of Allah. And there are those who bury gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah: announce unto them a most grievous penalty-

[9:35] | Yawma yuhma AAalayhafee nari jahannama fatukwa biha jibahuhumwajunoobuhum wathuhooruhum hatha makanaztum li-anfusikum fathooqoo ma kuntum taknizoona | يوم يحمى عليها في نار جهنم فتكوى بها جباههم وجنوبهم وظهورهم هذا ما كنزتم لأنفسكم فذوقوا ما كنتم تكنزون يَوْمَ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ هَـذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جس دن اس (سونے، چاندی اور مال) پر دوزخ کی آگ میں تاپ دی جائے گی پھر اس (تپے ہوئے مال) سے ان کی پیشانیاں اور ان کے پہلو اور ان کی پیٹھیں داغی جائیں گی، (اور ان سے کہا جائے گا) کہ یہ وہی (مال) ہے جو تم نے اپنی جانوں (کے مفاد) کے لئے جمع کیا تھا سو تم (اس مال کا) مزہ چکھو جسے تم جمع کرتے رہے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | On the Day when heat will be produced out of that (wealth) in the fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, their flanks, and their backs.- "This is the (treasure) which ye buried for yourselves: taste ye, then, the (treasures) ye buried!"

[9:46] | Walaw aradoo alkhurooja laaAAaddoolahu AAuddatan walakin kariha Allahu inbiAAathahumfathabbatahum waqeela oqAAudoo maAAa alqaAAideena | ولو أرادوا الخروج لأعدوا له عدة ولكن كره الله انبعاثهم فثبطهم وقيل اقعدوا مع القاعدين وَلَوْ أَرَادُواْ الْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّواْ لَهُ عُدَّةً وَلَـكِن كَرِهَ اللّهُ انبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ اقْعُدُواْ مَعَ الْقَاعِدِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر انہوں نے (واقعی جہاد کے لئے) نکلنے کا ارادہ کیا ہوتا تو وہ اس کے لئے (کچھ نہ کچھ) سامان تو ضرور مہیا کر لیتے لیکن (حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ان کے کذب و منافقت کے باعث) اللہ نے ان کا (جہاد کے لئے) کھڑے ہونا (ہی) ناپسند فرمایا سو اس نے انہیں (وہیں) روک دیا اور ان سے کہہ دیا گیا کہ تم (جہاد سے جی چرا کر) بیٹھ رہنے والوں کے ساتھ بیٹھے رہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If they had intended to come out, they would certainly have made some preparation therefor; but Allah was averse to their being sent forth; so He made them lag behind, and they were told, "Sit ye among those who sit (inactive)."

[9:36] | Inna AAiddata alshshuhoori AAinda Allahiithna AAashara shahran fee kitabi Allahiyawma khalaqa alssamawati waal-ardaminha arbaAAatun hurumun thalika alddeenualqayyimu fala tathlimoo feehinna anfusakumwaqatiloo almushrikeena kaffatan kama yuqatiloonakumkaffatan waiAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAaalmuttaqeena | إن عدة الشهور عند الله اثنا عشر شهرا في كتاب الله يوم خلق السماوات والأرض منها أربعة حرم ذلك الدين القيم فلا تظلموا فيهن أنفسكم وقاتلوا المشركين كافة كما يقاتلونكم كافة واعلموا أن الله مع المتقين إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِندَ اللّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِي كِتَابِ اللّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَات وَالأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ فَلاَ تَظْلِمُواْ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَقَاتِلُواْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةً وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک اللہ کے نزدیک مہینوں کی گنتی اللہ کی کتاب (یعنی نوشتۂ قدرت) میں بارہ مہینے (لکھی) ہے جس دن سے اس نے آسمانوں اور زمین (کے نظام) کو پیدا فرمایا تھا ان میں سے چار مہینے (رجب، ذو القعدہ، ذو الحجہ اور محرم) حرمت والے ہیں۔ یہی سیدھا دین ہے سو تم ان مہینوں میں (ازخود جنگ و قتال میں ملوث ہو کر) اپنی جانوں پر ظلم نہ کرنا اور تم (بھی) تمام مشرکین سے اسی طرح (جوابی) جنگ کیا کرو جس طرح وہ سب کے سب (اکٹھے ہو کر) تم سے جنگ کرتے ہیں، اور جان لو کہ بیشک اللہ پرہیزگاروں کے ساتھ ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The number of months in the sight of Allah is twelve (in a year)- so ordained by Him the day He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are sacred: that is the straight usage. So wrong not yourselves therein, and fight the Pagans all together as they fight you all together. But know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves.

[9:37] | Innama alnnasee-o ziyadatunfee alkufri yudallu bihi allatheena kafaroo yuhilloonahuAAaman wayuharrimoonahu AAaman liyuwati-ooAAiddata ma harrama Allahu fayuhillooma harrama Allahu zuyyina lahum soo-o aAAmalihimwaAllahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireena | إنما النسيء زيادة في الكفر يضل به الذين كفروا يحلونه عاما ويحرمونه عاما ليواطئوا عدة ما حرم الله فيحلوا ما حرم الله زين لهم سوء أعمالهم والله لا يهدي القوم الكافرين إِنَّمَا النَّسِيءُ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْكُفْرِ يُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُحِلِّونَهُ عَامًا وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُ عَامًا لِّيُوَاطِؤُواْ عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ فَيُحِلُّواْ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوءُ أَعْمَالِهِمْ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (حرمت والے مہینوں کو) آگے پیچھے ہٹا دینا محض کفر میں زیادتی ہے اس سے وہ کافر لوگ بہکائے جاتے ہیں جو اسے ایک سال حلال گردانتے ہیں اور دوسرے سال اسے حرام ٹھہرا لیتے ہیں تاکہ ان (مہینوں) کا شمار پورا کر دیں جنہیں اللہ نے حرمت بخشی ہے اور اس (مہینے) کو حلال (بھی) کر دیں جسے اللہ نے حرام فرمایا ہے۔ ان کے لئے ان کے برے اعمال خوش نما بنا دیئے گئے ہیں اور اللہ کافروں کے گروہ کو ہدایت نہیں فرماتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily the transposing (of a prohibited month) is an addition to Unbelief: the Unbelievers are led to wrong thereby: for they make it lawful one year, and forbidden another year, in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allah and make such forbidden ones lawful. The evil of their course seems pleasing to them. But Allah guideth not those who reject Faith.

[9:38] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooma lakum itha qeela lakumu infiroo fee sabeeli Allahiiththaqaltum ila al-ardi aradeetum bialhayatialddunya mina al-akhirati fama mataAAualhayati alddunya fee al-akhiratiilla qaleelun | يا أيها الذين آمنوا ما لكم إذا قيل لكم انفروا في سبيل الله اثاقلتم إلى الأرض أرضيتم بالحياة الدنيا من الآخرة فما متاع الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة إلا قليل يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ انفِرُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ اثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ أَرَضِيتُم بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ فَمَا مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلاَّ قَلِيلٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ جب تم سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں (جہاد کے لئے) نکلو تو تم بوجھل ہو کر زمین (کی مادی و سفلی دنیا) کی طرف جھک جاتے ہو، کیا تم آخرت کے بدلے دنیا کی زندگی سے راضی ہو گئے ہو؟ سو آخرت (کے مقابلہ) میں دنیوی زندگی کا ساز و سامان کچھ بھی نہیں مگر بہت ہی کم (حیثیت رکھتا ہے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter.

[9:40] | Illa tansuroohu faqad nasarahuAllahu ith akhrajahu allatheena kafaroo thaniyaithnayni ith huma fee alghari ithyaqoolu lisahibihi la tahzan inna AllahamaAAana faanzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAalayhiwaayyadahu bijunoodin lam tarawha wajaAAala kalimata allatheenakafaroo alssufla wakalimatu Allahi hiyaalAAulya waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun | إلا تنصروه فقد نصره الله إذ أخرجه الذين كفروا ثاني اثنين إذ هما في الغار إذ يقول لصاحبه لا تحزن إن الله معنا فأنزل الله سكينته عليه وأيده بجنود لم تروها وجعل كلمة الذين كفروا السفلى وكلمة الله هي العليا والله عزيز حكيم إِلاَّ تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اللّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِي الْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ لاَ تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَنَا فَأَنزَلَ اللّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُ بِجُنُودٍ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ السُّفْلَى وَكَلِمَةُ اللّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا وَاللّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر تم ان کی (یعنی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی غلبۂ اسلام کی جد و جہد میں) مدد نہ کرو گے (تو کیا ہوا) سو بیشک اللہ نے ان کو (اس وقت بھی) مدد سے نوازا تھا جب کافروں نے انہیں (وطنِ مکہ سے) نکال دیا تھا درآنحالیکہ وہ دو (ہجرت کرنے والوں) میں سے دوسرے تھے جبکہ دونوں (رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) غارِ (ثور) میں تھے جب وہ اپنے ساتھی (ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) سے فرما رہے تھے: غمزدہ نہ ہو بیشک اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے، پس اللہ نے ان پر اپنی تسکین نازل فرما دی اور انہیں (فرشتوں کے) ایسے لشکروں کے ذریعہ قوت بخشی جنہیں تم نہ دیکھ سکے اور اس نے کافروں کی بات کو پست و فروتر کر دیا، اور اللہ کا فرمان تو (ہمیشہ) بلند و بالا ہی ہے، اور اللہ غالب، حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If ye help not (your leader), (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us": then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in might, Wise.

[9:42] | Law kana AAaradan qareebanwasafaran qasidan laittabaAAooka walakinbaAAudat AAalayhimu alshshuqqatu wasayahlifoona biAllahilawi istataAAna lakharajna maAAakumyuhlikoona anfusahum waAllahu yaAAlamu innahum lakathiboona | لو كان عرضا قريبا وسفرا قاصدا لاتبعوك ولكن بعدت عليهم الشقة وسيحلفون بالله لو استطعنا لخرجنا معكم يهلكون أنفسهم والله يعلم إنهم لكاذبون لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لاَّتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَـكِن بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر مالِ (غنیمت) قریب الحصول ہوتا اور (جہاد کا) سفر متوسط و آسان تو وہ (منافقین) یقیناً آپ کے پیچھے چل پڑتے لیکن (وہ) پُرمشقّت مسافت انہیں بہت دور دکھائی دی، اور (اب) وہ عنقریب اللہ کی قَسمیں کھائیں گے کہ اگر ہم میں استطاعت ہوتی تو ضرور تمہارے ساتھ نکل کھڑے ہوتے، وہ (ان جھوٹی باتوں سے) اپنے آپ کو (مزید) ہلاکت میں ڈال رہے ہیں، اور اللہ جانتا ہے کہ وہ واقعی جھوٹے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them. They would indeed swear by Allah, "If we only could, we should certainly have come out with you": They would destroy their own souls; for Allah doth know that they are certainly lying.

[9:47] | Law kharajoo feekum ma zadookumilla khabalan walaawdaAAoo khilalakumyabghoonakumu alfitnata wafeekum sammaAAoona lahum waAllahuAAaleemun bialththalimeena | لو خرجوا فيكم ما زادوكم إلا خبالا ولأوضعوا خلالكم يبغونكم الفتنة وفيكم سماعون لهم والله عليم بالظالمين لَوْ خَرَجُواْ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلاَّ خَبَالاً وَلَأَوْضَعُواْ خِلاَلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّاعُونَ لَهُمْ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر وہ تم میں (شامل ہو کر) نکل کھڑے ہوتے تو تمہارے لئے محض شر و فساد ہی بڑھاتے اور تمہارے درمیان (بگاڑ پیدا کرنے کے لئے) دوڑ دھوپ کرتے وہ تمہارے اندر فتنہ بپا کرنا چاہتے ہیں اور تم میں (اب بھی) ان کے (بعض) جاسوس موجود ہیں، اور اللہ ظالموں سے خوب واقف ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If they had come out with you, they would not have added to your (strength) but only (made for) disorder, hurrying to and fro in your midst and sowing sedition among you, and there would have been some among you who would have listened to them. But Allah knoweth well those who do wrong.

[9:48] | Laqadi ibtaghawoo alfitnata min qabluwaqallaboo laka al-omoora hatta jaa alhaqquwathahara amru Allahi wahum karihoona | لقد ابتغوا الفتنة من قبل وقلبوا لك الأمور حتى جاء الحق وظهر أمر الله وهم كارهون لَقَدِ ابْتَغَوُاْ الْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُواْ لَكَ الْأُمُورَ حَتَّى جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ اللّهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | درحقیقت وہ پہلے بھی فتنہ پردازی میں کوشاں رہے ہیں اور آپ کے کام الٹ پلٹ کرنے کی تدبیریں کرتے رہے ہیں یہاں تک کہ حق آپہنچا اور اللہ کا حکم غالب ہو گیا اور وہ (اسے) ناپسند ہی کرتے رہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Indeed they had plotted sedition before, and upset matters for thee, until,- the Truth arrived, and the Decree of Allah became manifest much to their disgust.

[9:49] | Waminhum man yaqoolu i/than lee walataftinnee ala fee alfitnati saqatoo wa-innajahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena | ومنهم من يقول ائذن لي ولا تفتني ألا في الفتنة سقطوا وإن جهنم لمحيطة بالكافرين وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ائْذَن لِّي وَلاَ تَفْتِنِّي أَلاَ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُواْ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان میں سے وہ شخص (بھی) ہے جو کہتا ہے کہ آپ مجھے اجازت دے دیجئے (کہ میں جہاد پر جانے کی بجائے گھر ٹھہرا رہوں) اور مجھے فتنہ میں نہ ڈالئے، سن لو! کہ وہ فتنہ میں (تو خود ہی) گر پڑے ہیں، اور بیشک جہنم کافروں کو گھیرے ہوئے ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Among them is (many) a man who says: "Grant me exemption and draw me not into trial." Have they not fallen into trial already? and indeed Hell surrounds the Unbelievers (on all sides).

| Words | |ومنهم - And among them| من - (is he) who| يقول - says,| ائذن - "Grant me leave| لي - "Grant me leave| ولا - and (do) not| تفتني - put me to trial."| ألا - Surely,| في - in| الفتنة - the trial| سقطوا - they have fallen.| وإن - And indeed,| جهنم - Hell| لمحيطة - (will) surely surround| بالكافرين - the disbelievers.| | ||||||

[9:50] | In tusibka hasanatun tasu/humwa-in tusibka museebatun yaqooloo qad akhathnaamrana min qablu wayatawallaw wahum farihoona | إن تصبك حسنة تسؤهم وإن تصبك مصيبة يقولوا قد أخذنا أمرنا من قبل ويتولوا وهم فرحون إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُواْ قَدْ أَخَذْنَا أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر آپ کو کوئی بھلائی (یا آسائش) پہنچتی ہے (تو) وہ انہیں بری لگتی ہے اور اگر آپ کو مصیبت (یا تکلیف) پہنچتی ہے (تو) کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے تو پہلے سے ہی اپنے کام (میں احتیاط) کو اختیار کر لیا تھا اور خوشیاں مناتے ہوئے پلٹتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If good befalls thee, it grieves them; but if a misfortune befalls thee, they say, "We took indeed our precautions beforehand," and they turn away rejoicing.

| Words | |إن - If| تصبك - befalls you| حسنة - good,| تسؤهم - it distresses them,| وإن - but if| تصبك - befalls you| مصيبة - a calamity| يقولوا - they say,| قد - "Verily,| أخذنا - we took| أمرنا - our matter| من - before."| قبل - before."| ويتولوا - And they turn away| وهم - while they| فرحون - (are) rejoicing.| | ||||||

[9:51] | Qul lan yuseebana illama kataba Allahu lana huwa mawlanawaAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almu/minoona | قل لن يصيبنا إلا ما كتب الله لنا هو مولانا وعلى الله فليتوكل المؤمنون قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَا إِلاَّ مَا كَتَبَ اللّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلاَنَا وَعَلَى اللّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے حبیب!) آپ فرما دیجئے کہ ہمیں ہرگز (کچھ) نہیں پہنچے گا مگر وہی کچھ جو اللہ نے ہمارے لئے لکھ دیا ہے، وہی ہمارا کارساز ہے اور اللہ ہی پر ایمان والوں کو بھروسہ کرنا چاہیے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector": and on Allah let the Believers put their trust.

[9:52] | Qul hal tarabbasoona bina illaihda alhusnayayni wanahnu natarabbasubikum an yuseebakumu Allahu biAAathabin minAAindihi aw bi-aydeena fatarabbasoo innamaAAakum mutarabbisoona | قل هل تربصون بنا إلا إحدى الحسنيين ونحن نتربص بكم أن يصيبكم الله بعذاب من عنده أو بأيدينا فتربصوا إنا معكم متربصون قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَا إِلاَّ إِحْدَى الْحُسْنَيَيْنِ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيبَكُمُ اللّهُ بِعَذَابٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَا فَتَرَبَّصُواْ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | آپ فرما دیں: کیا تم ہمارے حق میں دو بھلائیوں (یعنی فتح اور شہادت) میں سے ایک ہی کا انتظار کر رہے ہو (کہ ہم شہید ہوتے ہیں یا غازی بن کر لوٹتے ہیں)، اور ہم تمہارے حق میں (تمہاری منافقت کے باعث) اس بات کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں کہ اللہ اپنی بارگاہ سے تمہیں (خصوصی) عذاب پہنچاتا ہے یا ہمارے ہاتھوں سے۔ سو تم (بھی) انتظار کرو ہم (بھی) تمہارے ساتھ منتظر ہیں (کہ کس کا انتظار نتیجہ خیز ہے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say: "Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things- (Martyrdom or victory)? But we can expect for you either that Allah will send his punishment from Himself, or by our hands. So wait (expectant); we too will wait with you."

| 25. [9:53] | Qul anfiqoo tawAAan aw karhan lanyutaqabbala minkum innakum kuntum qawman fasiqeena | قل أنفقوا طوعا أو كرها لن يتقبل منكم إنكم كنتم قوما فاسقين قُلْ أَنفِقُواْ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | فرما دیجئے: تم خوشی سے خرچ کرو یا ناخوشی سے تم سے ہرگز وہ (مال) قبول نہیں کیا جائے گا، بیشک تم نافرمان لوگ ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say: "Spend (for the cause) willingly or unwillingly: not from you will it be accepted: for ye are indeed a people rebellious and wicked."

[9:54] | Wama manaAAahum an tuqbala minhumnafaqatuhum illa annahum kafaroo biAllahiwabirasoolihi wala ya/toona alssalatailla wahum kusala wala yunfiqoona illawahum karihoona | وما منعهم أن تقبل منهم نفقاتهم إلا أنهم كفروا بالله وبرسوله ولا يأتون الصلاة إلا وهم كسالى ولا ينفقون إلا وهم كارهون وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَاتُهُمْ إِلاَّ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ وَلاَ يَأْتُونَ الصَّلاَةَ إِلاَّ وَهُمْ كُسَالَى وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَ إِلاَّ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان سے ان کے نفقات (یعنی صدقات) کے قبول کئے جانے میں کوئی (اور) چیز انہیں مانع نہیں ہوئی سوائے اس کے کہ وہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے منکر ہیں اور وہ نماز کی ادائیگی کے لئے نہیں آتے مگر کاہلی و بے رغبتی کے ساتھ اور وہ (اللہ کی راہ میں) خرچ (بھی) نہیں کرتے مگر اس حال میں کہ وہ ناخوش ہوتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The only reasons why their contributions are not accepted are: that they reject Allah and His Messenger; that they come to prayer without earnestness; and that they offer contributions unwillingly.

[9:55] | Fala tuAAjibka amwaluhum walaawladuhum innama yureedu Allahu liyuAAaththibahumbiha fee alhayati alddunyawatazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona | فلا تعجبك أموالهم ولا أولادهم إنما يريد الله ليعذبهم بها في الحياة الدنيا وتزهق أنفسهم وهم كافرون فَلاَ تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَلاَ أَوْلاَدُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو آپ کو نہ (تو) ان کے اموال تعجب میں ڈالیں اور نہ ہی ان کی اولاد۔ بس اللہ تو یہ چاہتا ہے کہ انہیں انہی (چیزوں) کی وجہ سے دنیوی زندگی میں عذاب دے اور ان کی جانیں اس حال میں نکلیں کہ وہ کافر ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Let not their wealth nor their (following in) sons dazzle thee: in reality Allah's plan is to punish them with these things in this life, and that their souls may perish in their (very) denial of Allah.

| 28. [9:56] | Wayahlifoona biAllahiinnahum laminkum wama hum minkum walakinnahumqawmun yafraqoona | ويحلفون بالله إنهم لمنكم وما هم منكم ولكنهم قوم يفرقون وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَـكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ (اس قدر بزدل ہیں کہ) اللہ کی قَسمیں کھاتے ہیں کہ وہ تم ہی میں سے ہیں حالانکہ وہ تم میں سے نہیں لیکن وہ ایسے لوگ ہیں جو (اپنے نفاق کے ظاہر ہونے اور اس کے انجام سے) ڈرتے ہیں (اس لئے وہ بصورتِ تقیہ اپنا مسلمان ہونا ظاہر کرتے ہیں) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They swear by Allah that they are indeed of you; but they are not of you: yet they are afraid (to appear in their true colours).

| 29. [9:57] | Law yajidoona maljaan aw magharatinaw muddakhalan lawallaw ilayhi wahum yajmahoona | لو يجدون ملجأ أو مغارات أو مدخلا لولوا إليه وهم يجمحون لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَأً أَوْ مَغَارَاتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلاً لَّوَلَّوْاْ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (ان کی کیفیت یہ ہے کہ) اگر وہ کوئی پناہ گاہ یا غار یا سرنگ پا لیں تو انتہائی تیزی سے بھاگتے ہوئے اس کی طرف پلٹ جائیں (اور آپ کے ساتھ ایک لمحہ بھی نہ رہیں مگر اس وقت وہ مجبور ہیں اس لئے جھوٹی وفاداری جتلاتے ہیں) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If they could find a place to flee to, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightaway thereto, with an obstinate rush.

[9:58] | Waminhum man yalmizuka fee alssadaqatifa-in oAAtoo minha radoo wa-in lam yuAAtawminha itha hum yaskhatoona | ومنهم من يلمزك في الصدقات فإن أعطوا منها رضوا وإن لم يعطوا منها إذا هم يسخطون وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُواْ مِنْهَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْاْ مِنهَا إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان ہی میں سے بعض ایسے ہیں جو صدقات (کی تقسیم) میں آپ پر طعنہ زنی کرتے ہیں، پھر اگر انہیں ان (صدقات) میں سے کچھ دے دیا جائے تو وہ راضی ہو جائیں اور اگر انہیں اس میں سے کچھ نہ دیا جائے تو وہ فوراً خفا ہو جاتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And among them are men who slander thee in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms: if they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if not, behold! they are indignant!
