| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [7:138] | Wajawazna bibanee isra-eelaalbahra faataw AAala qawmin yaAAkufoona AAalaasnamin lahum qaloo ya moosaijAAal lana ilahan kama lahum alihatunqala innakum qawmun tajhaloona |  وجاوزنا ببني إسرائيل البحر فأتوا على قوم يعكفون على أصنام لهم قالوا يا موسى اجعل لنا إلها كما لهم آلهة قال إنكم قوم تجهلونوَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَآئِيلَ الْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْاْ عَلَى قَوْمٍ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَى أَصْنَامٍ لَّهُمْ قَالُواْ يَا مُوسَى اجْعَل لَّنَا إِلَـهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو سمندر (یعنی بحرِ قلزم) کے پار اتارا تو وہ ایک ایسی قوم کے پاس جا پہنچے جو اپنے بتوں کے گرد (پرستش کے لئے) آسن مارے بیٹھے تھے، (بنی اسرائیل کے لوگ) کہنے لگے: اے موسٰی! ہمارے لئے بھی ایسا (ہی) معبود بنا دیں جیسے ان کے معبود ہیں، موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: تم یقیناً بڑے جاہل لوگ ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We took the Children of Israel (with safety) across the sea. They came upon a people devoted entirely to some idols they had. They said: "O Moses! fashion for us a god like unto the gods they have." He said: "Surely ye are a people without knowledge.

| Shabbir Ahmed | اور پار اُتارا ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو سمندر کے اور گزر ہوا اُن کا ایسے لوگوں کے پاس سے جو پوجتے تھے اپنے چند بتوں کو (انہیں دیکھ کر) وہ کہنے لگے اے موسیٰ! بنادے ہمارے لیے بھی ایک خدا ویسا ہی جیسے اُن کو خدا ہیں موسیٰ نے کہا درحقیقت تم لوگ بڑے ہی نادان ہو۔ | ||||||

| Literal | And We made with Israel's sons and daughters cross/pass through the large body of water (sea/ocean) , so they came/passed by on a nation occupying themselves/adhering on (to) idolized or worshipped idols/statues for them, they said: "You Moses, make/create for us a god, as/like (there are) gods for them." He said: "That you are a nation being lowly/ignorant/foolish ."105 | ||||||
