| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [9:1] | Baraatun mina Allahiwarasoolihi ila allatheena AAahadtum minaalmushrikeena |  براءة من الله ورسوله إلى الذين عاهدتم من المشركينبَرَاءَةٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ إِلَى الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتُّم مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف سے بے زاری (و دست برداری) کا اعلان ہے ان مشرک لوگوں کی طرف جن سے تم نے (صلح و امن کا) معاہدہ کیا تھا (اور وہ اپنے عہد پر قائم نہ رہے تھے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | A (declaration) of immunity from Allah and His Messenger, to those of the Pagans with whom ye have contracted mutual alliances:-

[9:2] | Faseehoo fee al-ardi arbaAAataashhurin waiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahiwaanna Allaha mukhzee alkafireena | فسيحوا في الأرض أربعة أشهر واعلموا أنكم غير معجزي الله وأن الله مخزي الكافرين فَسِيحُواْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِي اللّهِ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ مُخْزِي الْكَافِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس (اے مشرکو!) تم زمین میں چار ماہ (تک) گھوم پھر لو (اس مہلت کے اختتام پر تمہیں جنگ کا سامنا کرنا ہوگا) اور جان لو کہ تم اللہ کو ہرگز عاجز نہیں کر سکتے اور بیشک اللہ کافروں کو رسوا کرنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Go ye, then, for four months, backwards and forwards, (as ye will), throughout the land, but know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah (by your falsehood) but that Allah will cover with shame those who reject Him.

[9:3] | Waathanun mina Allahiwarasoolihi ila alnnasi yawma alhajjial-akbari anna Allaha baree-on mina almushrikeenawarasooluhu fa-in tubtum fahuwa khayrun lakum wa-in tawallaytumfaiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahiwabashshiri allatheena kafaroo biAAathabin aleemin | وأذان من الله ورسوله إلى الناس يوم الحج الأكبر أن الله بريء من المشركين ورسوله فإن تبتم فهو خير لكم وإن توليتم فاعلموا أنكم غير معجزي الله وبشر الذين كفروا بعذاب أليم وَأَذَانٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ إِلَى النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْحَجِّ الْأَكْبَرِ أَنَّ اللّهَ بَرِيءٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَرَسُولُهُ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِي اللّهِ وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ آیات) اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی جانب سے تمام لوگوں کی طرف حجِ اکبر کے دن اعلانِ (عام) ہے کہ اللہ مشرکوں سے بے زار ہے اور اس کا رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بھی (ان سے بری الذمّہ ہے)، پس (اے مشرکو!) اگر تم توبہ کر لو تو وہ تمہارے حق میں بہتر ہے اور اگر تم نے روگردانی کی تو جان لو کہ تم ہرگز اللہ کو عاجز نہ کر سکو گے، اور (اے حبیب!) آپ کافروں کو دردناک عذاب کی خبر سنا دیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.

| 4. [9:4] | Illa allatheena AAahadtummina almushrikeena thumma lam yanqusookum shay-an walam yuthahirooAAalaykum ahadan faatimmoo ilayhim AAahdahum ilamuddatihim inna Allaha yuhibbu almuttaqeena | إلا الذين عاهدتم من المشركين ثم لم ينقصوكم شيئا ولم يظاهروا عليكم أحدا فأتموا إليهم عهدهم إلى مدتهم إن الله يحب المتقين إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتُّم مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنقُصُوكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَمْ يُظَاهِرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدًا فَأَتِمُّواْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَى مُدَّتِهِمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سوائے ان مشرکوں کے جن سے تم نے معاہدہ کیا تھا پھر انہوں نے تمہارے ساتھ (اپنے عہد کو پورا کرنے میں) کوئی کمی نہیں کی اور نہ تمہارے مقابلہ پر کسی کی مدد (یا پشت پناہی) کی سو تم ان کے عہد کو ان کی مقررہ مدت تک ان کے ساتھ پورا کرو، بیشک اللہ پرہیزگاروں کو پسند فرماتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (But the treaties are) not dissolved with those Pagans with whom ye have entered into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided any one against you. So fulfil your engagements with them to the end of their term: for Allah loveth the righteous.

[9:5] | Fa-itha insalakha al-ashhuru alhurumufaoqtuloo almushrikeena haythu wajadtumoohum wakhuthoohumwaohsuroohum waoqAAudoo lahum kulla marsadinfa-in taboo waaqamoo alssalatawaatawoo alzzakata fakhalloo sabeelahum innaAllaha ghafoorun raheemun | فإذا انسلخ الأشهر الحرم فاقتلوا المشركين حيث وجدتموهم وخذوهم واحصروهم واقعدوا لهم كل مرصد فإن تابوا وأقاموا الصلاة وآتوا الزكاة فخلوا سبيلهم إن الله غفور رحيم فَإِذَا انسَلَخَ الْأَشْهُرُ الْحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُواْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَاحْصُرُوهُمْ وَاقْعُدُواْ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُاْ الزَّكَاةَ فَخَلُّواْ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر جب حرمت والے مہینے گزر جائیں تو تم (حسبِ اعلان) مشرکوں کو قتل کر دو جہاں کہیں بھی تم ان کو پاؤ اور انہیں گرفتار کر لو اور انہیں قید کر دو اور انہیں (پکڑنے اور گھیرنے کے لئے) ہر گھات کی جگہ ان کی تاک میں بیٹھو، پس اگر وہ توبہ کر لیں اور نماز قائم کریں اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرنے لگیں تو ان کا راستہ چھوڑ دو۔ بیشک اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

| 6. [9:6] | Wa-in ahadun mina almushrikeena istajarakafaajirhu hatta yasmaAAa kalama Allahithumma ablighhu ma/manahu thalika bi-annahum qawmun layaAAlamoona | وإن أحد من المشركين استجارك فأجره حتى يسمع كلام الله ثم أبلغه مأمنه ذلك بأنهم قوم لا يعلمون وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَ كَلاَمَ اللّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لاَّ يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر مشرکوں میں سے کوئی بھی آپ سے پناہ کا خواست گار ہو تو اسے پناہ دے دیں تاآنکہ وہ اللہ کا کلام سنے پھر آپ اسے اس کی جائے امن تک پہنچا دیں، یہ اس لئے کہ وہ لوگ (حق کا) علم نہیں رکھتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure. That is because they are men without knowledge.

| Words | |وإن - And if| أحد - anyone| من - of| المشركين - the polytheists| استجارك - seek your protection| فأجره - then grant him protection| حتى - until| يسمع - he hears| كلام - (the) Words of Allah.| الله - (the) Words of Allah.| ثم - Then| أبلغه - escort him| مأمنه - (to) his place of safety.| ذلك - That| بأنهم - (is) because they| قوم - (are) a people| لا - (who) do not know.| يعلمون - (who) do not know.| | ||||||
| 7. [9:7] | Kayfa yakoonu lilmushrikeena AAahdun AAindaAllahi waAAinda rasoolihi illa allatheena AAahadtumAAinda almasjidi alharami fama istaqamoolakum faistaqeemoo lahum inna Allaha yuhibbualmuttaqeena | كيف يكون للمشركين عهد عند الله وعند رسوله إلا الذين عاهدتم عند المسجد الحرام فما استقاموا لكم فاستقيموا لهم إن الله يحب المتقين كَيْفَ يَكُونُ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ عَهْدٌ عِندَ اللّهِ وَعِندَ رَسُولِهِ إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتُّمْ عِندَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ فَمَا اسْتَقَامُواْ لَكُمْ فَاسْتَقِيمُواْ لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (بھلا) مشرکوں کے لئے اللہ کے ہاں اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ہاں کوئی عہد کیوں کر ہو سکتا ہے؟ سوائے ان لوگوں کے جن سے تم نے مسجدِ حرام کے پاس (حدیبیہ میں) معاہدہ کیا ہے سو جب تک وہ تمہارے ساتھ (عہد پر) قائم رہیں تم ان کے ساتھ قائم رہو۔ بیشک اللہ پرہیزگاروں کو پسند فرماتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | How can there be a league, before Allah and His Messenger, with the Pagans, except those with whom ye made a treaty near the sacred Mosque? As long as these stand true to you, stand ye true to them: for Allah doth love the righteous.

[9:8] | Kayfa wa-in yathharoo AAalaykumla yarquboo feekum illan wala thimmatan yurdoonakumbi-afwahihim wata/ba quloobuhum waaktharuhum fasiqoona | كيف وإن يظهروا عليكم لا يرقبوا فيكم إلا ولا ذمة يرضونكم بأفواههم وتأبى قلوبهم وأكثرهم فاسقون كَيْفَ وَإِن يَظْهَرُوا عَلَيْكُمْ لاَ يَرْقُبُواْ فِيكُمْ إِلاًّ وَلاَ ذِمَّةً يُرْضُونَكُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتَأْبَى قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (بھلا ان سے عہد کی پاسداری کی توقع) کیونکر ہو، ان کا حال تو یہ ہے کہ اگر تم پر غلبہ پا جائیں تو نہ تمہارے حق میں کسی قرابت کا لحاظ کریں اور نہ کسی عہد کا، وہ تمہیں اپنے مونہہ سے تو راضی رکھتے ہیں اور ان کے دل (ان باتوں سے) انکار کرتے ہیں اور ان میں سے اکثر عہد شکن ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | How (can there be such a league), seeing that if they get an advantage over you, they respect not in you the ties either of kinship or of covenant? With (fair words from) their mouths they entice you, but their hearts are averse from you; and most of them are rebellious and wicked.

[9:9] | Ishtaraw bi-ayati Allahithamanan qaleelan fasaddoo AAan sabeelihi innahum saama kanoo yaAAmaloona | اشتروا بآيات الله ثمنا قليلا فصدوا عن سبيله إنهم ساء ما كانوا يعملون اشْتَرَوْاْ بِآيَاتِ اللّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِهِ إِنَّهُمْ سَاءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے آیاتِ الٰہی کے بدلے (دنیوی مفاد کی) تھوڑی سی قیمت حاصل کر لی پھر اس (کے دین) کی راہ سے (لوگوں کو) روکنے لگے، بیشک بہت ہی برا کام ہے جو وہ کرتے رہتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Signs of Allah have they sold for a miserable price, and (many) have they hindered from His way: evil indeed are the deeds they have done.

| 10. [9:10] | La yarquboona fee mu/minin illan walathimmatan waola-ika humu almuAAtadoona | لا يرقبون في مؤمن إلا ولا ذمة وأولئك هم المعتدون لاَ يَرْقُبُونَ فِي مُؤْمِنٍ إِلاًّ وَلاَ ذِمَّةً وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُعْتَدُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | نہ وہ کسی مسلمان کے حق میں قرابت کا لحاظ کرتے ہیں اور نہ عہد کا، اور وہی لوگ (سرکشی میں) حد سے بڑھنے والے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | In a Believer they respect not the ties either of kinship or of covenant! It is they who have transgressed all bounds.

[9:11] | Fa-in taboo waaqamoo alssalatawaatawoo alzzakata fa-ikhwanukum feealddeeni wanufassilu al-ayatiliqawmin yaAAlamoona | فإن تابوا وأقاموا الصلاة وآتوا الزكاة فإخوانكم في الدين ونفصل الآيات لقوم يعلمون فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُاْ الزَّكَاةَ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَنُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر (بھی) اگر وہ توبہ کر لیں اور نماز قائم کریں اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرنے لگیں تو (وہ) دین میں تمہارے بھائی ہیں، اور ہم (اپنی) آیتیں ان لوگوں کے لئے تفصیل سے بیان کرتے ہیں جو علم و دانش رکھتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand.

[9:12] | Wa-in nakathoo aymanahum min baAAdiAAahdihim wataAAanoo fee deenikum faqatilooa-immata alkufri innahum la aymana lahumlaAAallahum yantahoona | وإن نكثوا أيمانهم من بعد عهدهم وطعنوا في دينكم فقاتلوا أئمة الكفر إنهم لا أيمان لهم لعلهم ينتهون وَإِن نَّكَثُواْ أَيْمَانَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُواْ فِي دِينِكُمْ فَقَاتِلُواْ أَئِمَّةَ الْكُفْرِ إِنَّهُمْ لاَ أَيْمَانَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَنتَهُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر وہ اپنے عہد کے بعد اپنی قََسمیں توڑ دیں اور تمہارے دین میں طعنہ زنی کریں تو تم (ان) کفر کے سرغنوں سے جنگ کرو بیشک ان کی قَسموں کا کوئی اعتبار نہیں تاکہ وہ (اپنی فتنہ پروری سے) باز آجائیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and taunt you for your Faith,- fight ye the chiefs of Unfaith: for their oaths are nothing to them: that thus they may be restrained.

[9:13] | Ala tuqatiloona qawmannakathoo aymanahum wahammoo bi-ikhraji alrrasooliwahum badaookum awwala marratin atakhshawnahum faAllahuahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mu/mineena | ألا تقاتلون قوما نكثوا أيمانهم وهموا بإخراج الرسول وهم بدءوكم أول مرة أتخشونهم فالله أحق أن تخشوه إن كنتم مؤمنين أَلاَ تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا نَّكَثُواْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِإِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَؤُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ فَاللّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَوْهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا تم ایسی قوم سے جنگ نہیں کرو گے جنہوں نے اپنی قََسمیں توڑ ڈالیں اور رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو جلاوطن کرنے کا ارادہ کیا حالانکہ پہلی مرتبہ انہوں نے تم سے (عہد شکنی اور جنگ کی) ابتداء کی، کیا تم ان سے ڈرتے ہو جبکہ اللہ زیادہ حقدار ہے کہ تم اس سے ڈرو بشرطیکہ تم مومن ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Will ye not fight people who violated their oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and took the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you? Do ye fear them? Nay, it is Allah Whom ye should more justly fear, if ye believe!

[9:14] | Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahubi-aydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudooraqawmin mu/mineena | قاتلوهم يعذبهم الله بأيديكم ويخزهم وينصركم عليهم ويشف صدور قوم مؤمنين قَاتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تم ان سے جنگ کرو، اللہ تمہارے ہاتھوں انہیں عذاب دے گا اور انہیں رسوا کرے گا اور ان (کے مقابلہ) پر تمہاری مدد فرمائے گا اور ایمان والوں کے سینوں کو شفا بخشے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers,

| 15. [9:15] | Wayuthhib ghaythaquloobihim wayatoobu Allahu AAala man yashaowaAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun | ويذهب غيظ قلوبهم ويتوب الله على من يشاء والله عليم حكيم وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَيَتُوبُ اللّهُ عَلَى مَن يَشَاءُ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان کے دلوں کا غم و غصہ دور فرمائے گا اور جس کی چاہے گا توبہ قبول فرمائے گا، اور اللہ بڑے علم والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And still the indignation of their hearts. For Allah will turn (in mercy) to whom He will; and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

[9:16] | Am hasibtum an tutrakoo walammayaAAlami Allahu allatheena jahadoo minkumwalam yattakhithoo min dooni Allahi walarasoolihi wala almu/mineena waleejatan waAllahukhabeerun bima taAAmaloona | أم حسبتم أن تتركوا ولما يعلم الله الذين جاهدوا منكم ولم يتخذوا من دون الله ولا رسوله ولا المؤمنين وليجة والله خبير بما تعملون أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُواْ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اللّهُ الَّذِينَ جَاهَدُواْ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِ اللّهِ وَلاَ رَسُولِهِ وَلاَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةً وَاللّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا تم یہ سمجھتے ہو کہ تم (مصائب و مشکلات سے گزرے بغیر یونہی) چھوڑ دیئے جاؤ گے حالانکہ (ابھی) اللہ نے ایسے لوگوں کو متمیّز نہیں فرمایا جنہوں نے تم میں سے جہاد کیا ہے اور (جنہوں نے) اللہ کے سوا اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے سوا اور اہلِ ایمان کے سوا (کسی کو) محرمِ راز نہیں بنایا، اور اللہ ان کاموں سے خوب آگاہ ہے جو تم کرتے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Or think ye that ye shall be abandoned, as though Allah did not know those among you who strive with might and main, and take none for friends and protectors except Allah, His Messenger, and the (community of) Believers? But Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.

[9:17] | Ma kana lilmushrikeena anyaAAmuroo masajida Allahi shahideena AAalaanfusihim bialkufri ola-ika habitataAAmaluhum wafee alnnari hum khalidoona | ما كان للمشركين أن يعمروا مساجد الله شاهدين على أنفسهم بالكفر أولئك حبطت أعمالهم وفي النار هم خالدون مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُواْ مَسَاجِدَ الله شَاهِدِينَ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ بِالْكُفْرِ أُوْلَئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ وَفِي النَّارِ هُمْ خَالِدُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | مشرکوں کے لئے یہ روا نہیں کہ وہ اللہ کی مسجدیں آباد کریں درآنحالیکہ وہ خود اپنے اوپر کفر کے گواہ ہیں، ان لوگوں کے تمام اعمال باطل ہو چکے ہیں اور وہ ہمیشہ دوزخ ہی میں رہنے والے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | It is not for such as join gods with Allah, to visit or maintain the mosques of Allah while they witness against their own souls to infidelity. The works of such bear no fruit: In Fire shall they dwell.

[9:18] | Innama yaAAmuru masajida Allahiman amana biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiriwaaqama alssalata waataalzzakata walam yakhsha illa AllahafaAAasa ola-ika an yakoonoo mina almuhtadeena | إنما يعمر مساجد الله من آمن بالله واليوم الآخر وأقام الصلاة وآتى الزكاة ولم يخش إلا الله فعسى أولئك أن يكونوا من المهتدين إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلاَّ اللّهَ فَعَسَى أُوْلَـئِكَ أَن يَكُونُواْ مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ کی مسجدیں صرف وہی آباد کر سکتا ہے جو اللہ پر اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان لایا اور اس نے نماز قائم کی اور زکوٰۃ ادا کی اور اللہ کے سوا (کسی سے) نہ ڈرا۔ سو امید ہے کہ یہی لوگ ہدایت پانے والوں میں ہو جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity, and fear none (at all) except Allah. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance.

[9:19] | AjaAAaltum siqayata alhajjiwaAAimarata almasjidi alharami kaman amanabiAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiri wajahadafee sabeeli Allahi la yastawoona AAinda AllahiwaAllahu la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena | أجعلتم سقاية الحاج وعمارة المسجد الحرام كمن آمن بالله واليوم الآخر وجاهد في سبيل الله لا يستوون عند الله والله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ الْحَاجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ كَمَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَجَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ لاَ يَسْتَوُونَ عِندَ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا تم نے (محض) حاجیوں کو پانی پلانے اور مسجدِ حرام کی آبادی و مرمت کا بندوبست کرنے (کے عمل) کو اس شخص کے (اعمال) کے برابر قرار دے رکھا ہے جو اللہ اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان لے آیا اور اس نے اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کیا، یہ لوگ اللہ کے حضور برابر نہیں ہو سکتے، اور اللہ ظالم قوم کو ہدایت نہیں فرماتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Do ye make the giving of drink to pilgrims, or the maintenance of the Sacred Mosque, equal to (the pious service of) those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and strive with might and main in the cause of Allah? They are not comparable in the sight of Allah: and Allah guides not those who do wrong.

[9:20] | Allatheena amanoo wahajaroowajahadoo fee sabeeli Allahi bi-amwalihimwaanfusihim aAAthamu darajatan AAinda Allahiwaola-ika humu alfa-izoona | الذين آمنوا وهاجروا وجاهدوا في سبيل الله بأموالهم وأنفسهم أعظم درجة عند الله وأولئك هم الفائزون الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَاهَدُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ اللّهِ وَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے ہجرت کی اور اللہ کی راہ میں اپنے اموال اور اپنی جانوں سے جہاد کرتے رہے وہ اللہ کی بارگاہ میں درجہ کے لحاظ سے بہت بڑے ہیں، اور وہی لوگ ہی مراد کو پہنچے ہوئے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Those who believe, and suffer exile and strive with might and main, in Allah's cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah: they are the people who will achieve (salvation).

| 21. [9:21] | Yubashshiruhum rabbuhum birahmatinminhu waridwanin wajannatin lahum feehanaAAeemun muqeemun | يبشرهم ربهم برحمة منه ورضوان وجنات لهم فيها نعيم مقيم يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُم بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَانٍ وَجَنَّاتٍ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا نَعِيمٌ مُّقِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ان کا رب انہیں اپنی جانب سے رحمت کی اور (اپنی) رضا کی اور (ان) جنتوں کی خوشخبری دیتا ہے جن میں ان کے لئے دائمی نعمتیں ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Their Lord doth give them glad tidings of a Mercy from Himself, of His good pleasure, and of gardens for them, wherein are delights that endure:

| Tahir ul Qadri | (وہ) ان میں ہمیشہ ہمیشہ رہیں گے بیشک اللہ ہی کے پاس بڑا اجر ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They will dwell therein for ever. Verily in Allah's presence is a reward, the greatest (of all).

[9:23] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tattakhithoo abaakum wa-ikhwanakumawliyaa ini istahabboo alkufra AAala al-eemaniwaman yatawallahum minkum faola-ika humu alththalimoona | يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا آباءكم وإخوانكم أولياء إن استحبوا الكفر على الإيمان ومن يتولهم منكم فأولئك هم الظالمون يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ آبَاءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَانَكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ إِنِ اسْتَحَبُّواْ الْكُفْرَ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! تم اپنے باپ (دادا) اور بھائیوں کو بھی دوست نہ بناؤ اگر وہ ایمان پر کفر کو محبوب رکھتے ہوں، اور تم میں سے جو شخص بھی انہیں دوست رکھے گا سو وہی لوگ ظالم ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong.

[9:24] | Qul in kana abaokumwaabnaokum wa-ikhwanukum waazwajukumwaAAasheeratukum waamwalun iqtaraftumooha watijaratuntakhshawna kasadaha wamasakinu tardawnahaahabba ilaykum mina Allahi warasoolihi wajihadinfee sabeelihi fatarabbasoo hatta ya/tiya Allahubi-amrihi waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeena | قل إن كان آباؤكم وأبناؤكم وإخوانكم وأزواجكم وعشيرتكم وأموال اقترفتموها وتجارة تخشون كسادها ومساكن ترضونها أحب إليكم من الله ورسوله وجهاد في سبيله فتربصوا حتى يأتي الله بأمره والله لا يهدي القوم الفاسقين قُلْ إِن كَانَ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَانُكُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالٌ اقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَارَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَاكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَا أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَجِهَادٍ فِي سَبِيلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ اللّهُ بِأَمْرِهِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے نبی مکرم!) آپ فرما دیں: اگر تمہارے باپ (دادا) اور تمہارے بیٹے (بیٹیاں) اور تمہارے بھائی (بہنیں) اور تمہاری بیویاں اور تمہارے (دیگر) رشتہ دار اور تمہارے اموال جو تم نے (محنت سے) کمائے اور تجارت و کاروبار جس کے نقصان سے تم ڈرتے رہتے ہو اور وہ مکانات جنہیں تم پسند کرتے ہو، تمہارے نزدیک اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اور اس کی راہ میں جہاد سے زیادہ محبوب ہیں تو پھر انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ اللہ اپنا حکمِ (عذاب) لے آئے، اور اللہ نافرمان لوگوں کو ہدایت نہیں فرماتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say: If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that ye have gained; the commerce in which ye fear a decline: or the dwellings in which ye delight - are dearer to you than Allah, or His Messenger, or the striving in His cause;- then wait until Allah brings about His decision: and Allah guides not the rebellious.

[9:25] | Laqad nasarakumu Allahu feemawatina katheeratin wayawma hunaynin ithaAAjabatkum kathratukum falam tughni AAankum shay-an wadaqatAAalaykumu al-ardu bima rahubat thummawallaytum mudbireena | لقد نصركم الله في مواطن كثيرة ويوم حنين إذ أعجبتكم كثرتكم فلم تغن عنكم شيئا وضاقت عليكم الأرض بما رحبت ثم وليتم مدبرين لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللّهُ فِي مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٍ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنكُمْ شَيْئًا وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک اللہ نے بہت سے مقامات میں تمہاری مدد فرمائی اور (خصوصاً) حنین کے دن جب تمہاری (افرادی قوت کی) کثرت نے تمہیں نازاں بنا دیا تھا پھر وہ (کثرت) تمہیں کچھ بھی نفع نہ دے سکی اور زمین باجود اس کے کہ وہ فراخی رکھتی تھی، تم پر تنگ ہو گئی چنانچہ تم پیٹھ دکھاتے ہوئے پھر گئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Assuredly Allah did help you in many battle-fields and on the day of Hunain: Behold! your great numbers elated you, but they availed you naught: the land, for all that it is wide, did constrain you, and ye turned back in retreat.

[9:26] | Thumma anzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAalarasoolihi waAAala almu/mineena waanzala junoodan lamtarawha waAAaththaba allatheena kafaroo wathalikajazao alkafireena | ثم أنزل الله سكينته على رسوله وعلى المؤمنين وأنزل جنودا لم تروها وعذب الذين كفروا وذلك جزاء الكافرين ثُمَّ أَنَزلَ اللّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعذَّبَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَذَلِكَ جَزَاءُ الْكَافِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر اللہ نے اپنے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر اور ایمان والوں پر اپنی تسکین (رحمت) نازل فرمائی اور اس نے (ملائکہ کے ایسے) لشکر اتارے جنہیں تم نہ دیکھ سکے اور اس نے ان لوگوں کو عذاب دیا جو کفر کر رہے تھے، اور یہی کافروں کی سزا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But Allah did pour His calm on the Messenger and on the Believers, and sent down forces which ye saw not: He punished the Unbelievers; thus doth He reward those without Faith.

| 27. [9:27] | Thumma yatoobu Allahu min baAAdi thalikaAAala man yashao waAllahu ghafoorunraheemun | ثم يتوب الله من بعد ذلك على من يشاء والله غفور رحيم ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللّهُ مِن بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ عَلَى مَن يَشَاءُ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر اللہ اس کے بعد بھی جس کی چاہتا ہے توبہ قبول فرماتا ہے (یعنی اسے توفیقِ اسلام اور توجہِ رحمت سے نوازتا ہے)، اور اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Again will Allah, after this, turn (in mercy) to whom He will: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

[9:28] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooinnama almushrikoona najasun fala yaqrabooalmasjida alharama baAAda AAamihim hathawa-in khiftum AAaylatan fasawfa yughneekumu Allahu min fadlihiin shaa inna Allaha AAaleemun hakeemun | يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام بعد عامهم هذا وإن خفتم عيلة فسوف يغنيكم الله من فضله إن شاء إن الله عليم حكيم يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌ فَلاَ يَقْرَبُواْ الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَـذَا وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةً فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيكُمُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ إِن شَاءَ إِنَّ اللّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! مشرکین تو سراپا نجاست ہیں سو وہ اپنے اس سال کے بعد (یعنی فتحِ مکہ کے بعد 9 ھ سے) مسجدِ حرام کے قریب نہ آنے پائیں، اور اگر تمہیں (تجارت میں کمی کے باعث) مفلسی کا ڈر ہے تو (گھبراؤ نہیں) عنقریب اللہ اگر چاہے گا تو تمہیں اپنے فضل سے مال دار کر دے گا، بیشک اللہ خوب جاننے والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! Truly the Pagans are unclean; so let them not, after this year of theirs, approach the Sacred Mosque. And if ye fear poverty, soon will Allah enrich you, if He wills, out of His bounty, for Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

[9:29] | Qatiloo allatheena layu/minoona biAllahi wala bialyawmial-akhiri wala yuharrimoona ma harramaAllahu warasooluhu wala yadeenoona deena alhaqqimina allatheena ootoo alkitaba hattayuAAtoo aljizyata AAan yadin wahum saghiroona | قاتلوا الذين لا يؤمنون بالله ولا باليوم الآخر ولا يحرمون ما حرم الله ورسوله ولا يدينون دين الحق من الذين أوتوا الكتاب حتى يعطوا الجزية عن يد وهم صاغرون قَاتِلُواْ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَلاَ بِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَلاَ يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَلاَ يَدِينُونَ دِينَ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ حَتَّى يُعْطُواْ الْجِزْيَةَ عَن يَدٍ وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے مسلمانو!) تم اہلِ کتاب میں سے ان لوگوں کے ساتھ (بھی) جنگ کرو جو نہ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں نہ یومِ آخرت پر اور نہ ان چیزوں کو حرام جانتے ہیں جنہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حرام قرار دیا ہے اور نہ ہی دینِ حق (یعنی اسلام) اختیار کرتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ وہ (حکمِ اسلام کے سامنے) تابع و مغلوب ہو کر اپنے ہاتھ سے خراج ادا کریں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

[9:30] | Waqalati alyahoodu AAuzayrun ibnu Allahiwaqalati alnnasara almaseehuibnu Allahi thalika qawluhum bi-afwahihim yudahi-oonaqawla allatheena kafaroo min qablu qatalahumu Allahuanna yu/fakoona | وقالت اليهود عزير ابن الله وقالت النصارى المسيح ابن الله ذلك قولهم بأفواههم يضاهئون قول الذين كفروا من قبل قاتلهم الله أنى يؤفكون وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللّهِ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللّهِ ذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ يُضَاهِؤُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبْلُ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللّهُ أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہود نے کہا: عزیر (علیہ السلام) اللہ کے بیٹے ہیں اور نصارٰی نے کہا: مسیح (علیہ السلام) اللہ کے بیٹے ہیں۔ یہ ان کا (لغو) قول ہے جو اپنے مونہہ سے نکالتے ہیں۔ یہ ان لوگوں کے قول سے مشابہت (اختیار) کرتے ہیں جو (ان سے) پہلے کفر کر چکے ہیں، اللہ انہیں ہلاک کرے یہ کہاں بہکے پھرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!
