| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) ہم آپ پر موسٰی (علیہ السلام) اور فرعون کے حقیقت پر مبنی حال میں سے ان لوگوں کے لئے کچھ پڑھ کر سناتے ہیں جو ایمان رکھتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We rehearse to thee some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh in Truth, for people who believe.

[28:5] | Wanureedu an namunna AAala allatheenaistudAAifoo fee al-ardi wanajAAalahum a-immatanwanajAAalahumu alwaritheena | ونريد أن نمن على الذين استضعفوا في الأرض ونجعلهم أئمة ونجعلهم الوارثين وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةً وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم چاہتے تھے کہ ہم ایسے لوگوں پر احسان کریں جو زمین میں (حقوق اور آزادی سے محرومی اور ظلم و استحصال کے باعث) کمزور کر دیئے گئے تھے اور انہیں (مظلوم قوم کے) رہبر و پیشوا بنا دیں اور انہیں (ملکی تخت کا) وارث بنا دیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And We wished to be Gracious to those who were being depressed in the land, to make them leaders (in Faith) and make them heirs,

[28:6] | Wanumakkina lahum fee al-ardi wanuriyafirAAawna wahamana wajunoodahuma minhum makanoo yahtharoona | ونمكن لهم في الأرض ونري فرعون وهامان وجنودهما منهم ما كانوا يحذرون وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَنُرِيَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَحْذَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم انہیں ملک میں حکومت و اقتدار بخشیں اور فرعون اور ہامان اور ان دونوں کی فوجوں کو وہ (انقلاب) دکھا دیں جس سے وہ ڈرا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To establish a firm place for them in the land, and to show Pharaoh, Haman, and their hosts, at their hands, the very things against which they were taking precautions.

[28:4] | Inna firAAawna AAala fee al-ardiwajaAAala ahlaha shiyaAAan yastadAAifu ta-ifatanminhum yuthabbihu abnaahum wayastahyeenisaahum innahu kana mina almufsideena | إن فرعون علا في الأرض وجعل أهلها شيعا يستضعف طائفة منهم يذبح أبناءهم ويستحيي نساءهم إنه كان من المفسدين إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَائِفَةً مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک فرعون زمین میں سرکش و متکبّر (یعنی آمرِ مطلق) ہوگیا تھا اور اس نے اپنے (ملک کے) باشندوں کو (مختلف) فرقوں (اور گروہوں) میں بانٹ دیا تھا اس نے ان میں سے ایک گروہ (یعنی بنی اسرائیل کے عوام) کو کمزور کردیا تھا کہ ان کے لڑکوں کو (ان کے مستقبل کی طاقت کچلنے کے لئے) ذبح کر ڈالتا اور ان کی عورتوں کو زندہ چھوڑ دیتا (تاکہ مَردوں کے بغیر ان کی تعداد بڑھے اور ان میں اخلاقی بے راہ روی کا اضافہ ہو)، بیشک وہ فساد انگیز لوگوں میں سے تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Truly Pharaoh elated himself in the land and broke up its people into sections, depressing a small group among them: their sons he slew, but he kept alive their females: for he was indeed a maker of mischief.

[28:8] | Failtaqatahu alufirAAawna liyakoona lahum AAaduwwan wahazanan innafirAAawna wahamana wajunoodahuma kanookhati-eena | فالتقطه آل فرعون ليكون لهم عدوا وحزنا إن فرعون وهامان وجنودهما كانوا خاطئين فَالْتَقَطَهُ آلُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوًّا وَحَزَنًا إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا كَانُوا خَاطِئِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر فرعون کے گھر والوں نے انہیں (دریا سے) اٹھا لیا تاکہ وہ (مشیّتِ الٰہی سے) ان کے لئے دشمن اور (باعثِ) غم ثابت ہوں، بیشک فرعون اور ہامان اور ان دونوں کی فوجیں سب خطاکار تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then the people of Pharaoh picked him up (from the river): (It was intended) that (Moses) should be to them an adversary and a cause of sorrow: for Pharaoh and Haman and (all) their hosts were men of sin.

[28:7] | Waawhayna ila ommi moosaan ardiAAeehi fa-itha khifti AAalayhi faalqeehi feealyammi wala takhafee wala tahzaneeinna raddoohu ilayki wajaAAiloohu minaalmursaleena | وأوحينا إلى أم موسى أن أرضعيه فإذا خفت عليه فألقيه في اليم ولا تخافي ولا تحزني إنا رادوه إليك وجاعلوه من المرسلين وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى أُمِّ مُوسَى أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِي وَلَا تَحْزَنِي إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کی والدہ کے دل میں یہ بات ڈالی کہ تم انہیں دودھ پلاتی رہو، پھر جب تمہیں ان پر (قتل کردیئے جانے کا) اندیشہ ہو جائے تو انہیں دریا میں ڈال دینا اور نہ تم (اس صورتِ حال سے) خوفزدہ ہونا اور نہ رنجیدہ ہونا، بیشک ہم انہیں تمہاری طرف واپس لوٹانے والے ہیں اور انہیں رسولوں میں(شامل) کرنے والے ہیں۔ | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So We sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses: "Suckle (thy child), but when thou hast fears about him, cast him into the river, but fear not nor grieve: for We shall restore him to thee, and We shall make him one of Our messengers."

[28:9] | Waqalati imraatu firAAawna qurratuAAaynin lee walaka la taqtuloohu AAasa an yanfaAAanaaw nattakhithahu waladan wahum la yashAAuroona | وقالت امرأت فرعون قرت عين لي ولك لا تقتلوه عسى أن ينفعنا أو نتخذه ولدا وهم لا يشعرون وَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ لِّي وَلَكَ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَى أَن يَنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور فرعون کی بیوی نے (موسٰی علیہ السلام کو دیکھ کر) کہا کہ (یہ بچہ) میری اور تیری آنکھ کے لئے ٹھنڈک ہے۔ اسے قتل نہ کرو، شاید یہ ہمیں فائدہ پہنچائے یا ہم اس کو بیٹا بنالیں اور وہ (اس تجویز کے انجام سے) بے خبر تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The wife of Pharaoh said: "(Here is) joy of the eye, for me and for thee: slay him not. It may be that he will be use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not (what they were doing)!

| Words | |وقالت - And said| امرأت - (the) wife| فرعون - (of) Firaun,| قرت - "A comfort| عين - (of the) eye| لي - for me| ولك - and for you;| لا - (Do) not| تقتلوه - kill him;| عسى - perhaps| أن - (that)| ينفعنا - he may benefit us,| أو - or| نتخذه - we may take him| ولدا - (as) a son."| وهم - And they| لا - (did) not| يشعرون - perceive.| | ||||||

[28:10] | Waasbaha fu-adu ommimoosa farighan in kadat latubdee bihi lawlaan rabatna AAala qalbiha litakoonamina almu/mineena | وأصبح فؤاد أم موسى فارغا إن كادت لتبدي به لولا أن ربطنا على قلبها لتكون من المؤمنين وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَى فَارِغًا إِن كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِهِ لَوْلَا أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَى قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کی والدہ کا دل (صبر سے) خالی ہوگیا، قریب تھا کہ وہ (اپنی بے قراری کے باعث) اس راز کو ظاہر کردیتیں اگر ہم ان کے دل پر صبر و سکون کی قوّت نہ اتارتے تاکہ وہ (وعدۂ الٰہی پر) یقین رکھنے والوں میں سے رہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But there came to be a void in the heart of the mother of Moses: She was going almost to disclose his (case), had We not strengthened her heart (with faith), so that she might remain a (firm) believer.

| Words | |وأصبح - And became| فؤاد - (the) heart| أم - (of the) mother| موسى - (of) Musa| فارغا - empty.| إن - That,| كادت - she was near| لتبدي - (to) disclosing| به - about him,| لولا - if not| أن - that| ربطنا - We strengthened| على - [over]| قلبها - her heart,| لتكون - so that she would be| من - of| المؤمنين - the believers.| | ||||||
| 11. [28:11] | Waqalat li-okhtihi qusseehifabasurat bihi AAan junubin wahum la yashAAuroona | وقالت لأخته قصيه فبصرت به عن جنب وهم لا يشعرون وَقَالَتْ لِأُخْتِهِ قُصِّيهِ فَبَصُرَتْ بِهِ عَن جُنُبٍ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (موسٰی علیہ السلام کی والدہ نے) ان کی بہن سے کہا کہ (ان کا حال معلوم کرنے کے لئے) ان کے پیچھے جاؤ سو وہ انہیں دور سے دیکھتے رہے اور وہ لوگ (بالکل) بے خبر تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And she said to the sister of (Moses), "Follow him" so she (the sister) watched him in the character of a stranger. And they knew not.

| Words | |وقالت - And she said| لأخته - to his sister,| قصيه - "Follow him."| فبصرت - So she watched| به - him| عن - from| جنب - a distance| وهم - while they| لا - (did) not| يشعرون - perceive.| | ||||||

[28:12] | Waharramna AAalayhi almaradiAAamin qablu faqalat hal adullukum AAala ahli baytinyakfuloonahu lakum wahum lahu nasihoona | وحرمنا عليه المراضع من قبل فقالت هل أدلكم على أهل بيت يكفلونه لكم وهم له ناصحون وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ يَكْفُلُونَهُ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُ نَاصِحُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے پہلے ہی سے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) پر دائیوں کا دودھ حرام کر دیا تھا سو (موسٰی علیہ السلام کی بہن نے) کہا: کیا میں تمہیں ایسے گھر والوں کی نشاندہی کروں جو تمہارے لئے اس (بچے) کی پرورش کر دیں اور وہ اس کے خیر خواہ (بھی) ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And we ordained that he refused suck at first, until (His sister came up and) said: "Shall I point out to you the people of a house that will nourish and bring him up for you and be sincerely attached to him?"...

| 13. [28:13] | Faradadnahu ila ommihi kaytaqarra AAaynuha wala tahzana walitaAAlamaanna waAAda Allahi haqqun walakinnaaktharahum la yaAAlamoona | فرددناه إلى أمه كي تقر عينها ولا تحزن ولتعلم أن وعد الله حق ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون فَرَدَدْنَاهُ إِلَى أُمِّهِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کو (یوں) ان کی والدہ کے پاس لوٹا دیا تاکہ ان کی آنکھ ٹھنڈی رہے اور وہ رنجیدہ نہ ہوں اور تاکہ وہ (یقین سے) جان لیں کہ اللہ کا وعدہ سچا ہے لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Thus did We restore him to his mother, that her eye might be comforted, that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true: but most of them do not understand.

| 14. [28:14] | Walamma balagha ashuddahu waistawaataynahu hukman waAAilman wakathalikanajzee almuhsineena | ولما بلغ أشده واستوى آتيناه حكما وعلما وكذلك نجزي المحسنين وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَاسْتَوَى آتَيْنَاهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب موسٰی (علیہ السلام) اپنی جوانی کو پہنچ گئے اور (سنِّ) اعتدال پر آگئے تو ہم نے انہیں حکمِ (نبوّت) اور علم و دانش سے نوازا، اور ہم نیکوکاروں کو اسی طرح صلہ دیا کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When he reached full age, and was firmly established (in life), We bestowed on him wisdom and knowledge: for thus do We reward those who do good.

| Words | |ولما - And when| بلغ - he reached| أشده - his full strength| واستوى - and became mature,| آتيناه - We bestowed upon him| حكما - wisdom| وعلما - and knowledge.| وكذلك - And thus| نجزي - We reward| المحسنين - the good-doers.| | ||||||
| 15. [28:16] | Qala rabbi innee thalamtunafsee faighfir lee faghafara lahu innahu huwa alghafoorualrraheemu | قال رب إني ظلمت نفسي فاغفر لي فغفر له إنه هو الغفور الرحيم قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام) عرض کرنے لگے: اے میرے رب! بیشک میں نے اپنی جان پر ظلم کیا سو تو مجھے معاف فرما دے پس اس نے انہیں معاف فرما دیا، بیشک وہ بڑا ہی بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He prayed: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul! Do Thou then forgive me!" So (Allah) forgave him: for He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

| Words | |قال - He said,| رب - "My Lord!| إني - Indeed, I| ظلمت - [I] have wronged| نفسي - my soul,| فاغفر - so forgive| لي - [for] me."| فغفر - Then He forgave| له - [for] him.| إنه - Indeed He,| هو - He (is)| الغفور - the Oft-Forgiving,| الرحيم - the Most Merciful.| | ||||||
| 16. [28:17] | Qala rabbi bima anAAamtaAAalayya falan akoona thaheeran lilmujrimeena | قال رب بما أنعمت علي فلن أكون ظهيرا للمجرمين قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلَنْ أَكُونَ ظَهِيرًا لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (مزید) عرض کرنے لگے: اے میرے رب! اس سبب سے کہ تو نے مجھ پر (اپنی مغفرت کے ذریعہ) احسان فرمایا ہے اب میں ہرگز مجرموں کا مددگار نہیں بنوں گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "O my Lord! For that Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace on me, never shall I be a help to those who sin!"

| Words | |قال - He said,| رب - "My Lord!| بما - Because| أنعمت - You have favored| علي - [on] me,| فلن - so not| أكون - I will be| ظهيرا - a supporter| للمجرمين - (of) the criminals."| | ||||||

[28:15] | Wadakhala almadeenata AAala heenighaflatin min ahliha fawajada feeha rajulayniyaqtatilani hatha min sheeAAatihi wahathamin AAaduwwihi faistaghathahu allathee minsheeAAatihi AAala allathee min AAaduwwihifawakazahu moosa faqada AAalayhi qala hathamin AAamali alshshaytani innahu AAaduwwun mudillunmubeenun | ودخل المدينة على حين غفلة من أهلها فوجد فيها رجلين يقتتلان هذا من شيعته وهذا من عدوه فاستغاثه الذي من شيعته على الذي من عدوه فوكزه موسى فقضى عليه قال هذا من عمل الشيطان إنه عدو مضل مبين وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ عَلَى حِينِ غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلَانِ هَذَا مِن شِيعَتِهِ وَهَذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَاسْتَغَاثَهُ الَّذِي مِن شِيعَتِهِ عَلَى الَّذِي مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ هَذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌّ مُّبِينٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور موسٰی (علیہ السلام) شہرِ (مصر) میں داخل ہوئے اس حال میں کہ شہر کے باشندے (نیند میں) غافل پڑے تھے، تو انہوں نے اس میں دو مَردوں کو باہم لڑتے ہوئے پایا یہ (ایک) تو ان کے (اپنے) گروہ (بنی اسرائیل) میں سے تھا اور یہ (دوسرا) ان کے دشمنوں (قومِ فرعون) میں سے تھا، پس اس شخص نے جو انہی کے گروہ میں سے تھا آپ سے اس شخص کے خلاف مدد طلب کی جو آپ کے دشمنوں میں سے تھا پس موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے اسے مکّا مارا تو اس کا کام تمام کردیا، (پھر) فرمانے لگے: یہ شیطان کا کام ہے (جو مجھ سے سرزَد ہوا ہے)، بیشک وہ صریح بہکانے والا دشمن ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting,- one of his own religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe, and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said: "This is a work of Evil (Satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!"

[28:18] | Faasbaha fee almadeenati kha-ifanyataraqqabu fa-itha allathee istansarahu bial-amsiyastasrikhuhu qala lahu moosa innakalaghawiyyun mubeenun | فأصبح في المدينة خائفا يترقب فإذا الذي استنصره بالأمس يستصرخه قال له موسى إنك لغوي مبين فَأَصْبَحَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ خَائِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي اسْتَنصَرَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُ قَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى إِنَّكَ لَغَوِيٌّ مُّبِينٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے اس شہر میں ڈرتے ہوئے صبح کی اس انتظار میں (کہ اب کیا ہوگا؟) تو دفعتًہ وہی شخص جس نے آپ سے گزشتہ روز مدد طلب کی تھی آپ کو (دوبارہ) امداد کے لئے پکار رہا ہے تو موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے اس سے کہا: بیشک تو صریح گمراہ ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So he saw the morning in the city, looking about, in a state of fear, when behold, the man who had, the day before, sought his help called aloud for his help (again). Moses said to him: "Thou art truly, it is clear, a quarrelsome fellow!"

| 19. [28:21] | Fakharaja minha kha-ifanyataraqqabu qala rabbi najjinee mina alqawmi alththalimeena | فخرج منها خائفا يترقب قال رب نجني من القوم الظالمين فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَائِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُ قَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو موسٰی (علیہ السلام) وہاں سے خوف زدہ ہو کر (مددِ الٰہی کا) انتظار کرتے ہوئے نکل کھڑے ہوئے، عرض کیا: اے رب! مجھے ظالم قوم سے نجات عطا فرما | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He therefore got away therefrom, looking about, in a state of fear. He prayed "O my Lord! save me from people given to wrong-doing."

| 20. [28:22] | Walamma tawajjaha tilqaamadyana qala AAasa rabbee an yahdiyanee sawaaalssabeeli | ولما توجه تلقاء مدين قال عسى ربي أن يهديني سواء السبيل وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَاءَ مَدْيَنَ قَالَ عَسَى رَبِّي أَن يَهْدِيَنِي سَوَاءَ السَّبِيلِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب وہ مَديَن کی طرف رخ کر کے چلے (تو) کہنے لگے: امید ہے میرا رب مجھے (منزلِ مقصود تک پہنچانے کے لئے) سیدھی راہ دکھا دے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then, when he turned his face towards (the land of) Madyan, he said: "I do hope that my Lord will show me the smooth and straight Path."

[28:19] | Falamma an arada an yabtishabiallathee huwa AAaduwwun lahuma qalaya moosa atureedu an taqtulanee kama qataltanafsan bial-amsi in tureedu illa an takoona jabbaranfee al-ardi wama tureedu an takoona mina almusliheena | فلما أن أراد أن يبطش بالذي هو عدو لهما قال يا موسى أتريد أن تقتلني كما قتلت نفسا بالأمس إن تريد إلا أن تكون جبارا في الأرض وما تريد أن تكون من المصلحين فَلَمَّا أَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَبْطِشَ بِالَّذِي هُوَ عَدُوٌّ لَّهُمَا قَالَ يَا مُوسَى أَتُرِيدُ أَن تَقْتُلَنِي كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا بِالْأَمْسِ إِن تُرِيدُ إِلَّا أَن تَكُونَ جَبَّارًا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيدُ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو جب انہوں نے ارادہ کیا کہ اس شخص کو پکڑیں جو ان دونوں کا دشمن ہے تو وہ بول اٹھا: اے موسٰی! کیا تم مجھے (بھی) قتل کرنا چاہتے ہو جیسا کہ تم نے کل ایک شخص کو قتل کر ڈالا تھا۔ تم صرف یہی چاہتے ہو کہ ملک میں بڑے جابر بن جاؤ اور تم یہ نہیں چاہتے کہ اصلاح کرنے والوں میں سے بنو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then, when he decided to lay hold of the man who was an enemy to both of them, that man said: "O Moses! Is it thy intention to slay me as thou slewest a man yesterday? Thy intention is none other than to become a powerful violent man in the land, and not to be one who sets things right!"

[28:20] | Wajaa rajulun min aqsaalmadeenati yasAAa qala ya moosa innaalmalaa ya/tamiroona bika liyaqtulooka faokhruj innee lakamina alnnasiheena | وجاء رجل من أقصى المدينة يسعى قال يا موسى إن الملأ يأتمرون بك ليقتلوك فاخرج إني لك من الناصحين وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِّنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَا مُوسَى إِنَّ الْمَلَأَ يَأْتَمِرُونَ بِكَ لِيَقْتُلُوكَ فَاخْرُجْ إِنِّي لَكَ مِنَ النَّاصِحِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور شہر کے آخری کنارے سے ایک شخص دوڑتا ہوا آیا اس نے کہا: اے موسٰی! (قومِ فرعون کے) سردار آپ کے بارے میں مشورہ کر رہے ہیں کہ وہ آپ کو قتل کردیں سو آپ (یہاں سے) نکل جائیں بیشک میں آپ کے خیر خواہوں میں سے ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And there came a man, running, from the furthest end of the City. He said: "O Moses! the Chiefs are taking counsel together about thee, to slay thee: so get thee away, for I do give thee sincere advice."

[28:24] | Fasaqa lahuma thumma tawallaila alththilli faqala rabbiinnee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeerun | فسقى لهما ثم تولى إلى الظل فقال رب إني لما أنزلت إلي من خير فقير فَسَقَى لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلَّى إِلَى الظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو انہوں نے دونوں (کے ریوڑ) کو پانی پلا دیا پھر سایہ کی طرف پلٹ گئے اور عرض کیا: اے رب! میں ہر اس بھلائی کا جو تو میری طرف اتارے محتا ج ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So he watered (their flocks) for them; then he turned back to the shade, and said:"O my Lord! truly am I in (desperate) need of any good that Thou dost send me!"

[28:23] | Walamma warada maa madyanawajada AAalayhi ommatan mina alnnasi yasqoonawawajada min doonihimu imraatayni tathoodani qalama khatbukuma qalata lanasqee hatta yusdira alrriAAaowaaboona shaykhun kabeerun | ولما ورد ماء مدين وجد عليه أمة من الناس يسقون ووجد من دونهم امرأتين تذودان قال ما خطبكما قالتا لا نسقي حتى يصدر الرعاء وأبونا شيخ كبير وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ مَاءَ مَدْيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةً مِّنَ النَّاسِ يَسْقُونَ وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ امْرَأَتَيْنِ تَذُودَانِ قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُمَا قَالَتَا لَا نَسْقِي حَتَّى يُصْدِرَ الرِّعَاءُ وَأَبُونَا شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب وہ مَدْيَنَْ کے پانی (کے کنویں) پر پہنچے تو انہوں نے اس پر لوگوں کا ایک ہجوم پایا جو (اپنے جانوروں کو) پانی پلا رہے تھے اور ان سے الگ ایک جانب دو عورتیں دیکھیں جو (اپنی بکریوں کو) روکے ہوئے تھیں (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: تم دونوں اس حال میں کیوں (کھڑی) ہو؟ دونوں بولیں کہ ہم (اپنی بکریوں کو) پانی نہیں پلا سکتیں یہاں تک کہ چرواہے (اپنے مویشیوں کو) واپس لے جائیں، اور ہمارے والد عمر رسیدہ بزرگ ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And when he arrived at the watering (place) in Madyan, he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take back (their flocks): And our father is a very old man."

| 25. [28:25] | Fajaat-hu ihdahumatamshee AAala istihya-in qalat innaabee yadAAooka liyajziyaka ajra ma saqayta lanafalamma jaahu waqassa AAalayhi alqasasaqala la takhaf najawta mina alqawmi alththalimeena | فجاءته إحداهما تمشي على استحياء قالت إن أبي يدعوك ليجزيك أجر ما سقيت لنا فلما جاءه وقص عليه القصص قال لا تخف نجوت من القوم الظالمين فَجَاءَتْهُ إِحْدَاهُمَا تَمْشِي عَلَى اسْتِحْيَاءٍ قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ لِيَجْزِيَكَ أَجْرَ مَا سَقَيْتَ لَنَا فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُ وَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ الْقَصَصَ قَالَ لَا تَخَفْ نَجَوْتَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر (تھوڑی دیر بعد) ان کے پاس ان دونوں میں سے ایک (لڑکی) آئی جو شرم و حیاء (کے انداز) سے چل رہی تھی۔ اس نے کہا: میرے والد آپ کو بلا رہے ہیں تاکہ وہ آپ کو اس (محنت) کا معاوضہ دیں جو آپ نے ہمارے لئے (بکریوں کو) پانی پلایا ہے۔ سو جب موسٰی (علیہ السلام) ان (لڑکیوں کے والد شعیب علیہ السلام) کے پاس آئے اور ان سے (پچھلے) واقعات بیان کئے تو انہوں نے کہا: آپ خوف نہ کریں آپ نے ظالم قوم سے نجات پا لی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Afterwards one of the (damsels) came (back) to him, walking bashfully. She said: "My father invites thee that he may reward thee for having watered (our flocks) for us." So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: "Fear thou not: (well) hast thou escaped from unjust people."

| 26. [28:26] | Qalat ihdahuma yaabati ista/jirhu inna khayra mani ista/jarta alqawiyyu al-ameenu | قالت إحداهما يا أبت استأجره إن خير من استأجرت القوي الأمين قَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا يَا أَبَتِ اسْتَأْجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الْأَمِينُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ان میں سے ایک (لڑکی) نے کہا: اے (میرے) والد گرامی! انہیں (اپنے پاس مزدوری) پر رکھ لیں بیشک بہترین شخص جسے آپ مزدوری پر رکھیں وہی ہے جو طاقتور امانت دار ہو (اور یہ اس ذمہ داری کے اہل ہیں) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Said one of the (damsels): "O my (dear) father! engage him on wages: truly the best of men for thee to employ is the (man) who is strong and trusty"....

[28:27] | Qala innee oreedu an onkihakaihda ibnatayya hatayni AAala anta/juranee thamaniya hijajin fa-in atmamta AAashranfamin AAindika wama oreedu an ashuqqa AAalayka satajiduneein shaa Allahu mina alssaliheena | قال إني أريد أن أنكحك إحدى ابنتي هاتين على أن تأجرني ثماني حجج فإن أتممت عشرا فمن عندك وما أريد أن أشق عليك ستجدني إن شاء الله من الصالحين قَالَ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنكِحَكَ إِحْدَى ابْنَتَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ عَلَى أَن تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ فَإِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ عَشْرًا فَمِنْ عِندِكَ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَيْكَ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے (موسٰی علیہ السلام سے) کہا: میں چاہتا ہوں کہ اپنی ان دو لڑکیوں میں سے ایک کا نکاح آپ سے کردوں اس (مَہر) پر کہ آپ آٹھ سال تک میرے پاس اُجرت پر کام کریں، پھر اگر آپ نے دس (سال) پور ے کردیئے تو آپ کی طرف سے (احسان) ہوگا اور میں آپ پر مشقت نہیں ڈالنا چاہتا، اگر اللہ نے چاہا تو آپ مجھے نیک لوگوں میں سے پائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "I intend to wed one of these my daughters to thee, on condition that thou serve me for eight years; but if thou complete ten years, it will be (grace) from thee. But I intend not to place thee under a difficulty: thou wilt find me, indeed, if Allah wills, one of the righteous."

[28:28] | Qala thalika baynee wabaynakaayyama al-ajalayni qadaytu fala AAudwanaAAalayya waAllahu AAala ma naqooluwakeelun | قال ذلك بيني وبينك أيما الأجلين قضيت فلا عدوان علي والله على ما نقول وكيل قَالَ ذَلِكَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ أَيَّمَا الْأَجَلَيْنِ قَضَيْتُ فَلَا عُدْوَانَ عَلَيَّ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: یہ (معاہدہ) میرے اور آپ کے درمیان (طے) ہوگیا، دو میں سے جو مدت بھی میں پوری کروں سو مجھ پر کوئی جبر نہیں ہوگا، اور اللہ اس (بات) پر جو ہم کہہ رہے ہیں نگہبان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "Be that (the agreement) between me and thee: whichever of the two terms I fulfil, let there be no ill-will to me. Be Allah a witness to what we say."

| 29. [28:33] | Qala rabbi innee qataltu minhumnafsan faakhafu an yaqtulooni | قال رب إني قتلت منهم نفسا فأخاف أن يقتلون قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي قَتَلْتُ مِنْهُمْ نَفْسًا فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) عرض کیا: اے پروردگار! میں نے ان میں سے ایک شخص کو قتل کر ڈالا تھا سو میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ وہ مجھے قتل کرڈالیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "O my Lord! I have slain a man among them, and I fear lest they slay me.

[28:34] | Waakhee haroonu huwa afsahuminnee lisanan faarsilhu maAAiya rid-an yusaddiquneeinnee akhafu an yukaththibooni | وأخي هارون هو أفصح مني لسانا فأرسله معي ردءا يصدقني إني أخاف أن يكذبون وَأَخِي هَارُونُ هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَانًا فَأَرْسِلْهُ مَعِيَ رِدْءًا يُصَدِّقُنِي إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور میرے بھائی ہارون (علیہ السلام)، وہ زبان میں مجھ سے زیادہ فصیح ہیں سو انہیں میرے ساتھ مددگار بنا کر بھیج دے کہ وہ میری تصدیق کر سکیں میں اس بات سے (بھی) ڈرتا ہوں کہ (وہ) لوگ مجھے جھٹلائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "And my brother Aaron - He is more eloquent in speech than I: so send him with me as a helper, to confirm (and strengthen) me: for I fear that they may accuse me of falsehood."
