Waanna kunna naqAAudu minhamaqaAAida lilssamAAi faman yastamiAAi al-anayajid lahu shihaban rasadan وأنا كنا نقعد منها مقاعد للسمع فمن يستمع الآن يجد له شهابا رصدا
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ الْآنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا

  اور یہ کہ ہم (پہلے آسمانی خبریں سننے کے لئے) اس کے بعض مقامات میں بیٹھا کرتے تھے، مگر اب کوئی سننا چاہے تو وہ اپنی تاک میں آگ کا شعلہ (منتظر) پائے گا

Yousuf Ali'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush.

Ahmed Aliاورہم نے اس کے ٹھکانوں میں سننے کے لیے بیٹھا کرتے تھے پس جو کوئی اب کان دھرتا ہے تو وہ اپنے لیے ایک انگارہ تاک لگانے ہوئے پاتا ہے

Abul Ala Maududiاور یہ کہ "پہلے ہم سن گن لینے کے لیے آسمان میں بیٹھنے کی جگہ پا لیتے تھے، مگر اب جو چوری چھپے سننے کی کوشش کرتا ہے وہ اپنے لیے گھات میں ایک شہاب ثاقب لگا ہوا پاتا ہے"

Literal'And that we, we were sitting/remaining (in position) from it (in) seats/sitting places (positions) for the hearing/listening, so who hears/listens now finds for him a light from a fire source/star/flame (shooting star) watching/observing (ambushing) (him).'
