Wabaynahuma hijabunwaAAala al-aAArafi rijalun yaAArifoonakullan biseemahum wanadaw as-habaaljannati an salamun AAalaykum lam yadkhuloohawahum yatmaAAoona وبينهما حجاب وعلى الأعراف رجال يعرفون كلا بسيماهم ونادوا أصحاب الجنة أن سلام عليكم لم يدخلوها وهم يطمعون
وَبَيْنَهُمَا حِجَابٌ وَعَلَى الْأَعْرَافِ رِجَالٌ يَعْرِفُونَ كُلاًّ بِسِيمَاهُمْ وَنَادَوْاْ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَن سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَمْ يَدْخُلُوهَا وَهُمْ يَطْمَعُونَ

  اور (ان) دونوں (یعنی جنتیوں اور دوزخیوں) کے درمیان ایک حجاب (یعنی فصیل) ہے، اور اَعراف (یعنی اسی فصیل) پر کچھ مرد ہوں گے جو سب کو ان کی نشانیوں سے پہچان لیں گے۔ اور وہ اہلِ جنت کو پکار کر کہیں گے کہ تم پر سلامتی ہو۔ وہ (اہلِ اَعراف خود ابھی) جنت میں داخل نہیں ہوئے ہوں گے حالانکہ وہ (اس کے) امیدوار ہوں گے

Yousuf AliBetween them shall be a veil, and on the heights will be men who would know every one by his marks: they will call out to the Companions of the Garden, "peace on you": they will not have entered, but they will have an assurance (thereof).

Ahmed Aliاور ان دونوں کے درمیان ایک دیوار ہو گی اور اعراف کے اوپر ایسے مرد ہوں گے کہ ہر ایک کو اس کی نشانی سے پہچان لیں گے اور جنت والوں کو پکار کر کہیں گے کہ تم پر سلام ہو وہ ابھی جنت میں داخل نہیں ہوئے اور امیدوار ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khanاور جنت و دوزخ کے بیچ میں ایک پردہ ہے اور اعراف پر کچھ مرد ہوں گے کہ دونوں فریق کو ان کی پیشانیوں سے پہچانیں گے اور وہ جنتیوں کو پکاریں گے کہ سلام تم پر یہ جنت میں نہ گئے اور اس کی طمع رکھتے ہیں،
Shabbir Ahmed اور درمیان اُن دونوں (گروہوں) کے (حائل ہوگی) ایک اوٹ اور ایک مقامِ بلند (اعراف) پر کچھ لوگ ہوں گے جو پہچانتے ہوں گے ہر گروہ کو اُن کے قیافے سے اور پکار کر کہیں گے وہ اہلِ جنّت سے کہ سلام ہو تم پر۔ (یہ لوگ) نہیں داخل ہوئے ہوں گے ابھی جنّت میں البتہ اس کے آرزو مند ہوں گے۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyان دونوں (یعنی بہشت اور دوزخ) کے درمیان (اعراف نام) ایک دیوار ہو گی اور اعراف پر کچھ آدمی ہوں گے جو سب کو ان کی صورتوں سے پہچان لیں گے۔ تو وہ اہل بہشت کو پکار کر کہیں گے کہ تم پر سلامتی ہو۔ یہ لوگ بھی بہشت میں داخل تو نہیں ہوں گے مگر امید رکھتے ہوں گے
Mehmood Al Hassanاور دونوں کے بیچ میں ہو گی ایک دیوار اور اعراف کے اوپر مرد ہوں گے کہ پہچان لیں گے ہر ایک کو اس کی نشانی سے اور وہ پکاریں گے جنت والوں کو کہ سلامتی ہے تم پر وہ ابھی جنت میں داخل نہیں ہوئے اور وہ امیدوار ہیں
Abul Ala Maududiان دونوں گروہوں کے درمیان ایک اوٹ حائل ہوگی جس کی بلندیوں (اعراف) پر کچھ اور لوگ ہوں گے یہ ہر ایک کو اس کے قیافہ سے پہچانیں گے اور جنت والوں سے پکار کر کہیں گے کہ "سلامتی ہو تم پر" یہ لوگ جنت میں داخل تو نہیں ہوئے مگر اس کے امیدوار ہونگے

Khalifa**A barrier separates them, while the Purgatory is occupied by people who recognize each side by their looks. They will call the dwellers of Paradise: "Peace be upon you." They did not enter (Paradise) through wishful thinking.
Hilali/Khan**And between them will be a barrier screen and on AlAraf (a wall with elevated places) will be men (whose good and evil deeds would be equal in scale), who would recognise all (of the Paradise and Hell people), by their marks (the dwellers of Paradise by their white faces and the dwellers of Hell by their black faces), they will call out to the dwellers of Paradise, "Salamun Alaikoom" (peace be on you), and at that time they (men on Al-Araf) will not yet have entered it (Paradise), but they will hope to enter (it) with certainty.
QXP Shabbir Ahemd**Between the people of Paradise and Hell there will be a veil. On the Heights there will be people with insight who will recognize others by their looks. They will greet those who, in their estimate, are worthy of entering the Garden, with "Peace!" (2:143), (4:41), (56:10-11).
