Aw taqooloo innama ashraka abaonamin qablu wakunna thurriyyatan min baAAdihimafatuhlikuna bima faAAala almubtiloona أو تقولوا إنما أشرك آباؤنا من قبل وكنا ذرية من بعدهم أفتهلكنا بما فعل المبطلون
أَوْ تَقُولُواْ إِنَّمَا أَشْرَكَ آبَاؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِّن بَعْدِهِمْ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ
Tahir ul Qadri

  یا (ایسا نہ ہو کہ) تم کہنے لگو کہ شرک تو محض ہمارے آباء و اجداد نے پہلے کیا تھا اور ہم تو ان کے بعد (ان کی) اولاد تھے (گویا ہم مجرم نہیں اصل مجرم وہ ہیں)، تو کیا تو ہمیں اس (گناہ) کی پاداش میں ہلاک فرمائے گا جو اہلِ باطل نے انجام دیا تھا

Yousuf AliOr lest ye should say: "Our fathers before us may have taken false gods, but we are (their) descendants after them: wilt Thou then destroy us because of the deeds of men who were futile?"

Ahmed Aliیا کہنے لگو ہمارے باپ دادا نے ہم سے پہلے شرک کیاتھا اور ہم ان کے بعد ان کی اولاد تھے کیاتو ہمیں اس کام پر ہلاک کرتا ہے جو گمراہوں نے کیا
Ahmed Raza Khanیا کہو کہ شرک تو پہلے ہمارے باپ دادا نے کیا اور ہم ان کے بعد بچے ہوئے تو کیا تو ہمیں اس پر ہلاک فرمائے گا جو اہل باطل نے کیا

Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyیا یہ (نہ) کہو کہ شرک تو پہلے ہمارے بڑوں نے کیا تھا۔ اور ہم تو ان کی اولاد تھے (جو) ان کے بعد (پیدا ہوئے) ۔ تو کیا جو کام اہل باطل کرتے رہے اس کے بدلے تو ہمیں ہلاک کرتا ہے
Mehmood Al Hassanیا کہنے لگو کہ شرک تو نکالا تھا ہمارے باپ دادوں نے ہم سے پہلے اور ہم ہوئے انکی اولاد ان کے پیچھے تو کیا تو ہم کو ہلاک کرتا ہے اس کام پر جو کیا گمراہوں نے
Abul Ala Maududiیا یہ نہ کہنے لگو کہ "شرک کی ابتدا تو ہمارے باپ دادا نے ہم سے پہلے کی تھی اور ہم بعد کو ان کی نسل سے پیدا ہوئے، پھر کیا آپ ہمیں اُس قصور میں پکڑتے ہیں جو غلط کار لوگوں نے کیا تھا"

Malikor lest you should say: "Our forefathers started the practice of shirk and we just followed, being their descendants. Will you then destroy us on account of following the sin committed by those wrongdoers?"[173]

Hilali/Khan**Or lest you should say: "It was only our fathers afortime who took others as partners in worship along with Allah, and we were (merely their) descendants after them; will You then destroy us because of the deeds of men who practised Al-Batil (i.e. polytheism and committing crimes and sins, invoking and worshipping others besides Allah)?" (Tafsir At-Tabaree).
