Am yaqooloona shaAAirun natarabbasubihi rayba almanooni أم يقولون شاعر نتربص به ريب المنون
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ

  کیا (کفّار) کہتے ہیں: (یہ) شاعر ہیں؟ ہم اِن کے حق میں حوادثِ زمانہ کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں

In the present context, the phrase obviously denotes the expectation of the Prophet's detractors that time would prove his teachings to have been false or, at best, a delusion.]
