| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [5:48] | Waanzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqimusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alkitabiwamuhayminan AAalayhi faohkum baynahum bimaanzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum AAammajaaka mina alhaqqi likullin jaAAalna minkumshirAAatan waminhajan walaw shaa AllahulajaAAalakum ommatan wahidatan walakin liyabluwakumfeema atakum faistabiqoo alkhayratiila Allahi marjiAAukum jameeAAan fayunabbi-okum bimakuntum feehi takhtalifoona |  وأنزلنا إليك الكتاب بالحق مصدقا لما بين يديه من الكتاب ومهيمنا عليه فاحكم بينهم بما أنزل الله ولا تتبع أهواءهم عما جاءك من الحق لكل جعلنا منكم شرعة ومنهاجا ولو شاء الله لجعلكم أمة واحدة ولكن ليبلوكم في ما آتاكم فاستبقوا الخيرات إلى الله مرجعكم جميعا فينبئكم بما كنتم فيه تختلفونوَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَـكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَآ آتَاكُم فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ إِلَى اللهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اے نبئ مکرّم!) ہم نے آپ کی طرف (بھی) سچائی کے ساتھ کتاب نازل فرمائی ہے جو اپنے سے پہلے کی کتاب کی تصدیق کرنے والی ہے اور اس (کے اصل احکام و مضامین) پر نگہبان ہے، پس آپ ان کے درمیان ان (احکام) کے مطابق فیصلہ فرمائیں جو اﷲ نے نازل فرمائے ہیں اور آپ ان کی خواہشات کی پیروی نہ کریں، اس حق سے دور ہو کر جو آپ کے پاس آچکا ہے۔ ہم نے تم میں سے ہر ایک کے لئے الگ شریعت اور کشادہ راہِ عمل بنائی ہے، اور اگر اﷲ چاہتا تو تم سب کو (ایک شریعت پر متفق) ایک ہی امّت بنا دیتا لیکن وہ تمہیں ان (الگ الگ احکام) میں آزمانا چاہتا ہے جو اس نے تمہیں (تمہارے حسبِ حال) دیئے ہیں، سو تم نیکیوں میں جلدی کرو۔ اﷲ ہی کی طرف تم سب کو پلٹنا ہے، پھر وہ تمہیں ان (سب باتوں میں حق و باطل) سے آگاہ فرمادے گا جن میں تم اختلاف کرتے رہتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

| Ahmed Ali | ہم نے تجھ پر سچی کتاب اتاری جو اپنے سے پہلی کتابوں کی تصدیق کرنے والی ہے اور ان کے مضامین پر نگہبانی کرنے والی ہے سو تو ان میں اس کے موافق حکم کر جو الله نے اتارا ہے اور جو حق تیرے پاس آیا ہے اس سے منہ موڑ کر ان کی خواہشات کی پیروی نہ کر ہم نے تم میں سے ہر ایک کے لیے ایک شریعت اور واضح راہ مقرر کر دی ہے اور اگر الله چاہتا تو سب کو ایک ہی امت کر دیتا لیکن وہ تمہیں اپنے دیے ہوئے حکموں میں آزمانا چاہتا ہے لہذا نیکیوں میں ایک دوسرے سے بڑھنے کی کوشش کرو تو سب کو الله کے پاس پہنچنا ہے پھر تمہیں جتائے گا جس میں تم اختلاف کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Ahmed Raza Khan | اور اے محبوب ہم نے تمہاری طرف سچی کتاب اتاری اگلی کتابوں کی تصدیق فرماتی اور ان پر محافظ و گواہ تو ان میں فیصلہ کرو اللہ کے اتارے سے اور اسے سننے والے ان کی خواہشوں کی پیروی نہ کرنا اپنے پاس آیا ہوا حق چھوڑ کر، ہم نے تم سب کے لیے ایک ایک شریعت اور راستہ رکھا اور اللہ چاہتا تو تم سب کو ایک ہی امت کردیتا مگر منظور یہ ہے کہ جو کچھ تمہیں دیا اس میں تمہیں آزمائے تو بھلائیوں کی طرف سبقت چاہو، تم سب کا پھرنا اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے تو وہ تمہیں بتادے گا جس بات میں تم جھگڑتے تھے | ||||||
| Shabbir Ahmed | پھر نازل کی ہم نے تم پر (اے نبی) یہ کتاب حق کے ساتھ جو تصدیق کرنے والی ہے اس کی جو موجود ہے اس سے پہلے الکتاب میں سے اور نگہبان ہے اس کی سو فیصلے کرو تم اُن کے درمیان اس کے مطابق جو نازل کیا اللہ نے اور مت پیروی کرو اُن کی خواہشات کی، (منہ موڑ کر) اس سے جو آگیا ہے تمہارے پاس حق۔ ہر ایک کے لیے تم میں سے مقّرر کی ہے ہم نے شریعت اور راستہ اور اگر چاہتا اللہ تو بنادیتا تم کو ایک ہی اُمّت لیکن (یہ اس لیے کیا) کہ آزمائے تم کو ان احکام کے بارے میں جو اس نے تم کو دیے ہیں سو تم سبقت لے جاؤ نیکیوں میں۔ اور اللہ ہی کی طرف لوٹنا ہے تم سب کو پھر آگاہ کرے گا وہ تم کو اِن اُمور سے جن میں تم اختلاف کرتے تھے۔ | ||||||
| Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary | اور (اے پیغمبر!) ہم نے تم پر سچی کتاب نازل کی ہے جو اپنے سے پہلی کتابوں کی تصدیق کرتی ہے اور ان (سب) پر شامل ہے تو جو حکم خدا نے نازل فرمایا ہے اس کے مطابق ان کا فیصلہ کرنا اور حق جو تمہارے پاس آچکا ہے اس کو چھوڑ کر ان کی خواہشوں کی پیروی نہ کرنا ہم نے تم میں سے ہر ایک (فرقے) کے لیے ایک دستور اور طریقہ مقرر کیا ہے اور اگر خدا چاہتا تو سب کو ایک ہی شریعت پر کر دیتا مگر جو حکم اس نے تم کو دیئے ہیں ان میں وہ تمہاری آزمائش کرنی چاہتا ہے سو نیک کاموں میں جلدی کرو تم سب کو خدا کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے پھر جن باتوں میں تم کو اختلاف تھا وہ تم کو بتا دے گا | ||||||

| Abul Ala Maududi | پھر اے محمدؐ! ہم نے تمہاری طرف یہ کتاب بھیجی جو حق لے کر آئی ہے اور الکتاب میں سے جو کچھ اس کے آگے موجود ہے اُس کی تصدیق کرنے والی اور اس کی محافظ و نگہبان ہے لہٰذا تم خدا کے نازل کردہ قانون کے مطابق لوگوں کے معاملات کا فیصلہ کرو اور جو حق تمہارے پاس آیا ہے اُس سے منہ موڑ کر ان کی خواہشات کی پیروی نہ کرو ہم نے تم میں سے ہر ایک کے لیے ایک شریعت اور ایک راہ عمل مقرر کی اگرچہ تمہارا خدا چاہتا تو تم سب کو ایک امت بھی بنا سکتا تھا، لیکن اُس نے یہ اِس لیے کیا کہ جو کچھ اُس نے تم لوگوں کو دیا ہے اس میں تمہاری آزمائش کرے لہٰذا بھلائیوں میں ایک دوسرے سے سبقت لے جانے کی کوشش کرو آخر کار تم سب کو خدا کی طرف پلٹ کر جانا ہے، پھر وہ تمہیں اصل حقیقت بتا دے گا جس میں تم اختلاف کرتے رہے ہو | ||||||

| Literal | And We descended to you The Book with the truth , confirming to what (is) between his hands from The Book , and guarding/protecting on it, so judge/rule between them with what God descended and do not follow their self attractions for desires about what came to you from the truth, to each from you We made/put God's decreed way of life/method/law and order , and a clear/easy/plain way , and if God wanted/willed, He would have made you one nation/generation, and but to test you in what He gave you, so race/surpass (to) the goodnesses/generosity (good deeds), to God (is) your return altogether, so He informs you with what you were in it differing/disagreeing (P). | ||||||

Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you (He hath made you as ye are). So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and He will then inform you of that wherein ye differ. | ||||||

| Sarwar | We have revealed the Book to you (Muhammad) in all Truth. It confirms the (original) Bible and has the authority to preserve or abrogate what the Bible contains. Judge among them by what God has revealed to you and do not follow their desires instead of the Truth which has come to you. We have given a law and a way of life to each of you. Had God wanted, He could have made you into one nation, but He wanted to see who are the more pious ones among you. Compete with each other in righteousness. All of you will return to God who will tell you the truth in the matter of your differences. | ||||||

You shall compete in righteousness. To GOD is your final destiny - all of you - then He will inform you of everything you had disputed. | ||||||

| QXP Shabbir Ahemd** | To you (O Messenger) We have sent the Book in Sure Truth confirming the Divine Origin of whatever Scripture was before it. The Qur'an is the Watcher over the old Scriptures and guards the Truth in them. So, Judge between people by that which Allah has revealed to you and follow not their wishes away from the Truth that has come to you. Now has come to all of you the Divine Law, and a traced-out Way. If Allah had willed, He could have made all of you humans a single people. But, He decided to let you choose your own path after showing you the Truth, and thus test yourselves. Outdo one another in actions that serve humanity and thus grow your "Self". To Allah is your final Destination, of all of you. Then He will make you understand where you differ. | ||||||
