| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [4:102] | Wa-itha kunta feehim faaqamta lahumualssalata faltaqum ta-ifatun minhummaAAaka walya/khuthoo aslihatahum fa-ithasajadoo falyakoonoo min wara-ikum walta/ti ta-ifatunokhra lam yusalloo falyusalloo maAAakawalya/khuthoo hithrahum waaslihatahumwadda allatheena kafaroo law taghfuloona AAan aslihatikumwaamtiAAatikum fayameeloona AAalaykum maylatan wahidatanwala junaha AAalaykum in kana bikum athanmin matarin aw kuntum marda an tadaAAoo aslihatakumwakhuthoo hithrakum inna AllahaaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban muheenan |  وإذا كنت فيهم فأقمت لهم الصلاة فلتقم طائفة منهم معك وليأخذوا أسلحتهم فإذا سجدوا فليكونوا من ورائكم ولتأت طائفة أخرى لم يصلوا فليصلوا معك وليأخذوا حذرهم وأسلحتهم ود الذين كفروا لو تغفلون عن أسلحتكم وأمتعتكم فيميلون عليكم ميلة واحدة ولا جناح عليكم إن كان بكم أذى من مطر أو كنتم مرضى أن تضعوا أسلحتكم وخذوا حذركم إن الله أعد للكافرين عذابا مهيناوَإِذَا كُنتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلاَةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُم مَّعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُواْ أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ فَإِذَا سَجَدُواْ فَلْيَكُونُواْ مِن وَرَآئِكُمْ وَلْتَأْتِ طَآئِفَةٌ أُخْرَى لَمْ يُصَلُّواْ فَلْيُصَلُّواْ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُواْ حِذْرَهُمْ وَأَسْلِحَتَهُمْ وَدَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ أَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيْكُم مَّيْلَةً وَاحِدَةً وَلاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِن كَانَ بِكُمْ أَذًى مِّن مَّطَرٍ أَوْ كُنتُم مَّرْضَى أَن تَضَعُواْ أَسْلِحَتَكُمْ وَخُذُواْ حِذْرَكُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اے محبوب!) جب آپ ان (مجاہدوں) میں (تشریف فرما) ہوں تو ان کے لئے نماز (کی جماعت) قائم کریں پس ان میں سے ایک جماعت کو (پہلے) آپ کے ساتھ (اقتداءً) کھڑا ہونا چاہئے اور انہیں اپنے ہتھیار بھی لئے رہنا چاہئیں، پھر جب وہ سجدہ کر چکیں تو (ہٹ کر) تم لوگوں کے پیچھے ہو جائیں اور (اب) دوسری جماعت کو جنہوں نے (ابھی) نماز نہیں پڑھی آجانا چاہیے پھر وہ آپ کے ساتھ (مقتدی بن کر) نماز پڑھیں اور چاہئے کہ وہ (بھی بدستور) اپنے اسبابِ حفاظت اور اپنے ہتھیار لئے رہیں، کافر چاہتے ہیں کہ کہیں تم اپنے ہتھیاروں اور اپنے اسباب سے غافل ہو جاؤ تو وہ تم پر دفعۃً حملہ کر دیں، اور تم پر کچھ مضائقہ نہیں کہ اگر تمہیں بارش کی وجہ سے کوئی تکلیف ہو یا بیمار ہو تو اپنے ہتھیار (اُتار کر) رکھ دو، اوراپنا سامانِ حفاظت لئے رہو۔ بیشک اللہ نے کافروں کے لئے ذلّت انگیز عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When thou (O Messenger) art with them, and standest to lead them in prayer, Let one party of them stand up (in prayer) with thee, Taking their arms with them: When they finish their prostrations, let them Take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up which hath not yet prayed - and let them pray with thee, Taking all precaution, and bearing arms: the Unbelievers wish, if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a single rush. But there is no blame on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment.

| Shabbir Ahmed | اور جب موجود ہو تم (مسلمانوں) کے ساتھ اور پڑھانے لگو ان کو نماز، تو چاہیے کہ کھڑا ہو ایک گروہ ان میں سے تمہارے ساتھ اور لیے رہیں اپنے ہتھیار پھر جب سجدہ کرچکیں یہ لوگ تو چاہیے کہ چلے جائیں تمہارے پیچھے اور آجائے گر وہ دوسرا جنہوں نے نماز نہیں پڑھی پس وہ نماز پڑھیں تمہارے ساتھ اور ضروری ہے کہ چوکنّا رہیں (اور لیے رہیں) اپنے ہتھیار، دل سے چاہتے ہیں وہ لوگ جو کافر ہیں کہ کاش غافل ہوجاؤ تم اپنے ہتھیاروں سے اور سامانوں سے تو ٹوٹ پڑیں وہ تم پر ایک دم۔ اور نہیں ہے کچھ گناہ۔ تم پر اگر ہو تمہیں تکلیف بارش کی وجہ سے یا ہو تم بیمار کہ اتار رکھو اپنے ہتھیار لیکن چوکنا ر ہو بے شک اللہ نے تیار کر رکھا ہے کافروں کے لیے رسواکن عذاب۔ | ||||||
| Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary | اور (اے پیغمبر) جب تم ان (مجاہدین کے لشکر) میں ہو اور ان کو نماز پڑھانے لگو تو چاہیئے کہ ان کی ایک جماعت تمہارے ساتھ مسلح ہو کر کھڑی رہے جب وہ سجدہ کرچکیں تو پرے ہو جائیں پھر دوسری جماعت جس نے نماز نہیں پڑھی (ان کی جگہ) آئے اور ہوشیار اور مسلح ہو کر تمہارے ساتھ نماز ادا کرے کافر اس گھات میں ہیں کہ تم ذرا اپنے ہتھیاروں اور سامان سے غافل ہو جاؤ تو تم پر یکبارگی حملہ کردیں اگر تم بارش کے سبب تکلیف میں یا بیمار ہو تو تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں کہ ہتھیار اتار رکھو مگر ہوشیار ضرور رہنا خدا نے کافروں کے لئے ذلت کا عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے | ||||||

| Abul Ala Maududi | اور اے نبیؐ! جب تم مسلمانوں کے درمیان ہو اور (حالت جنگ میں) انہیں نماز پڑھانے کھڑے ہو تو چاہیے کہ ان میں سے ایک گروہ تمہارے ساتھ کھڑا ہو اور اسلحہ لیے رہے، پھر جب وہ سجدہ کر لے تو پیچھے چلا جائے اور دوسرا گروہ جس نے ابھی نماز نہیں پڑھی ہے آکر تمہارے ساتھ پڑھے اور وہ بھی چوکنا رہے اور اپنے اسلحہ لیے رہے، کیوں کہ کفار اِس تاک میں ہیں کہ تم اپنے ہتھیاروں اور اپنے سامان کی طرف سے ذرا غافل ہو تو وہ تم پر یکبارگی ٹوٹ پڑیں البتہ اگر تم بارش کی وجہ سے تکلیف محسوس کرو یا بیمار ہو تو اسلحہ رکھ دینے میں کوئی مضائقہ نہیں، مگر پھر بھی چوکنے رہو یقین رکھو کہ اللہ نے کافروں کے لیے رسوا کن عذاب مہیا کر رکھا ہے | ||||||

| Literal | And if you were in them, so you started for them the prayer, so a group from them should stand with you, and they should take their weapons/arms, so if they prostrated, so they be from behind you, and another group should come (that) they did not pray, so they pray (E) with you, and they should take their caution, and their weapons/arms; those who disbelieved, wished if you ignore/neglect your weapons/arms, and your belongings/effects/goods, so they lean on you one bend, and no offense/guilt (is) on you if mild harm was with you from rain or you were sick/diseased, that you lay your weapons/arms, and take your caution, that God prepared to the disbelievers a degrading/humiliating torture. | ||||||

| Sarwar | (Muhammad), if you are among them (your followers during a battle) and you call them for prayer, let a group of them carry their arms during prayer. After they have made their prostrations, let them go back to watch the enemy and let the other group who has not yet prayed, join you, carrying their arms with due precaution. The unbelievers would love to find you neglecting your arms and property and would attack you suddenly. If rain or illness make you suffer, you may place your arms aside during prayer but still observe due precaution. God has prepared a humiliating torment for the unbelievers. | ||||||

The unbelievers wish to see you neglect your arms and your baggage, so that they could suddenly attack to overpower you all in one stroke. However, there is no blame on you if you lay aside your arms because of heavy rain or because you are sick, but you should still be on your guard.
