| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [4:120] | YaAAiduhum wayumanneehim wamayaAAiduhumu alshshaytanu illa ghurooran |  يعدهم ويمنيهم وما يعدهم الشيطان إلا غرورايَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ إِلاَّ غُرُورًا | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | شیطان انہیں (غلط) وعدے دیتا ہے اور انہیں (جھوٹی) اُمیدیں دلاتا ہے اور شیطان فریب کے سوا ان سے کوئی وعدہ نہیں کرتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Satan makes them promises, and creates in them false desires; but satan's promises are nothing but deception.

[4:119] | Walaodillannahum walaomanniyannahumwalaamurannahum falayubattikunna athana al-anAAamiwalaamurannahum falayughayyirunna khalqa Allahiwaman yattakhithi alshshaytana waliyyan mindooni Allahi faqad khasira khusranan mubeenan | ولأضلنهم ولأمنينهم ولآمرنهم فليبتكن آذان الأنعام ولآمرنهم فليغيرن خلق الله ومن يتخذ الشيطان وليا من دون الله فقد خسر خسرانا مبينا وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَآمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ آذَانَ الْأَنْعَامِ وَلَآمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ اللّهِ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ الشَّيْطَانَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | میں انہیں ضرور گمراہ کردوں گا اور ضرور انہیں غلط اُمیدیں دلاؤں گا اور انہیں ضرور حکم دیتا رہوں گا سو وہ یقیناً جانوروں کے کان چیرا کریں گے اور میں انہیں ضرور حکم دیتا رہوں گا سو وہ یقیناً اللہ کی بنائی ہوئی چیزوں کو بدلا کریں گے، اور جو کوئی اللہ کو چھوڑ کر شیطان کو دوست بنالے تو واقعی وہ صریح نقصان میں رہا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "I will mislead them, and I will create in them false desires; I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and to deface the (fair) nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest.

| Words | |ولأضلنهم - "And I will surely mislead them| ولأمنينهم - and surely arouse desires in them,| ولآمرنهم - and surely I will order them| فليبتكن - so they will surely cut off| آذان - (the) ears| الأنعام - (of) the cattle| ولآمرنهم - and surely I will order them| فليغيرن - so they will surely change| خلق - (the) creation| الله - (of) Allah."| ومن - And whoever| يتخذ - takes| الشيطان - the Shaitaan| وليا - (as) a friend| من - from| دون - besides| الله - Allah,| فقد - then surely| خسر - he (has) lost -| خسرانا - a loss| مبينا - manifest.| | ||||||
| 3. [4:121] | Ola-ika ma/wahum jahannamuwala yajidoona AAanha maheesan | أولئك مأواهم جهنم ولا يجدون عنها محيصا أُوْلَـئِكَ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلاَ يَجِدُونَ عَنْهَا مَحِيصًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جن کا ٹھکانا دوزخ ہے اور وہ وہاں سے بھاگنے کی کوئی جگہ نہ پائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They (his dupes) will have their dwelling in Hell, and from it they will find no way of escape.

[4:122] | Waallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo alssalihati sanudkhiluhum jannatintajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideenafeeha abadan waAAda Allahi haqqan waman asdaqumina Allahi qeelan | والذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات سندخلهم جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار خالدين فيها أبدا وعد الله حقا ومن أصدق من الله قيلا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا وَعْدَ اللّهِ حَقًّا وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللّهِ قِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور نیک عمل کرتے رہے ہم انہیں عنقریب بہشتوں میں داخل کریں گے جن کے نیچے نہریں بہہ رہی ہوں گی وہ ان میں ہمیشہ ہمیشہ رہیں گے۔ (یہ) اللہ کا سچا وعدہ ہے، اور اللہ سے زیادہ بات کا سچا کون ہوسکتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness,- we shall soon admit them to gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,-to dwell therein for ever. Allah's promise is the truth, and whose word can be truer than Allah's?

[4:124] | Waman yaAAmal mina alssalihatimin thakarin aw ontha wahuwa mu/minun faola-ikayadkhuloona aljannata wala yuthlamoonanaqeeran | ومن يعمل من الصالحات من ذكر أو أنثى وهو مؤمن فأولئك يدخلون الجنة ولا يظلمون نقيرا وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ مِن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثََى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلاَ يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو کوئی نیک اعمال کرے گا (خواہ) مرد ہو یا عورت درآنحالیکہ وہ مومن ہے پس وہی لوگ جنت میں داخل ہوں گے اوران کی تِل برابر (بھی) حق تلفی نہیں کی جائے گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If any do deeds of righteousness,- be they male or female - and have faith, they will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them.

| 6. [4:123] | Laysa bi-amaniyyikum wala amaniyyiahli alkitabi man yaAAmal soo-an yujza bihi walayajid lahu min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseeran | ليس بأمانيكم ولا أماني أهل الكتاب من يعمل سوءا يجز به ولا يجد له من دون الله وليا ولا نصيرا لَّيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلاَ أَمَانِيِّ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَن يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ وَلاَ يَجِدْ لَهُ مِن دُونِ اللّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلاَ نَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اللہ کا وعدۂ مغفرت) نہ تمہاری خواہشات پر موقوف ہے اور نہ اہلِ کتاب کی خواہشات پر، جو کوئی برا عمل کرے گا اسے اس کی سزا دی جائے گی اور نہ وہ اللہ کے سوا اپنا کوئی حمایتی پائے گا اور نہ مددگار | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Not your desires, nor those of the People of the Book (can prevail): whoever works evil, will be requited accordingly. Nor will he find, besides Allah, any protector or helper.

[4:125] | Waman ahsanu deenan mimman aslamawajhahu lillahi wahuwa muhsinun waittabaAAamillata ibraheema haneefan waittakhathaAllahu ibraheema khaleelan | ومن أحسن دينا ممن أسلم وجهه لله وهو محسن واتبع ملة إبراهيم حنيفا واتخذ الله إبراهيم خليلا وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ دِينًا مِّمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ واتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَاتَّخَذَ اللّهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور دینی اعتبار سے اُس شخص سے بہتر کون ہو سکتا ہے جس نے اپنا رُوئے نیاز اللہ کے لئے جھکا دیا اور وہ صاحبِ احسان بھی ہوا، اور وہ دینِ ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کی پیروی کرتا رہا جو (اللہ کے لئے) یک سُو (اور) راست رَو تھے، اور اللہ نے ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کو اپنا مخلص دوست بنا لیا تھا (سو وہ شخص بھی حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام کی نسبت سے اللہ کا دوست ہو گیا) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Who can be better in religion than one who submits his whole self to Allah, does good, and follows the way of Abraham the true in Faith? For Allah did take Abraham for a friend.

| 8. [4:126] | Walillahi ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakana Allahubikulli shay-in muheetan | ولله ما في السماوات وما في الأرض وكان الله بكل شيء محيطا وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ اللّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّحِيطًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (سب) اللہ ہی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے اور اللہ ہر چیز کا احاطہ فرمائے ہوئے ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And He it is that Encompasseth all things.

| Words | |ولله - And for Allah| ما - (is) what| في - (is) in| السماوات - the heavens| وما - and what| في - (is) in| الأرض - the earth,| وكان - and is| الله - Allah| بكل - of every| شيء - thing| محيطا - All-Encompassing.| | ||||||

[4:128] | Wa-ini imraatun khafat min baAAlihanushoozan aw iAAradan fala junaha AAalayhimaan yusliha baynahuma sulhan waalssulhukhayrun waohdirati al-anfusu alshshuhhawa-in tuhsinoo watattaqoo fa-inna Allaha kanabima taAAmaloona khabeeran | وإن امرأة خافت من بعلها نشوزا أو إعراضا فلا جناح عليهما أن يصلحا بينهما صلحا والصلح خير وأحضرت الأنفس الشح وإن تحسنوا وتتقوا فإن الله كان بما تعملون خبيرا وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِن بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوْ إِعْرَاضًا فَلاَ جُنَاْحَ عَلَيْهِمَا أَن يُصْلِحَا بَيْنَهُمَا صُلْحًا وَالصُّلْحُ خَيْرٌ وَأُحْضِرَتِ الْأَنفُسُ الشُّحَّ وَإِن تُحْسِنُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر کوئی عورت اپنے شوہر کی جانب سے زیادتی یا بے رغبتی کا خوف رکھتی ہو تو دونوں (میاں بیوی) پر کوئی حرج نہیں کہ وہ آپس میں کسی مناسب بات پر صلح کر لیں، اور صلح (حقیقت میں) اچھی چیز ہے اور طبیعتوں میں (تھوڑا بہت) بخل (ضرور) رکھ دیا گیا ہے، اور اگر تم احسان کرو اور پرہیزگاری اختیار کرو تو بیشک اللہ ان کاموں سے جو تم کر رہے ہو (اچھی طرح) خبردار ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best; even though men's souls are swayed by greed. But if ye do good and practise self-restraint, Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

| Words | |وإن - And if| امرأة - a woman| خافت - fears| من - from| بعلها - her husband| نشوزا - ill-conduct| أو - or| إعراضا - desertion| فلا - then (there is) no| جناح - sin| عليهما - on both of them| أن - that| يصلحا - they make terms of peace| بينهما - between themselves -| صلحا - a reconciliation| والصلح - and [the] reconciliation| خير - (is) best.| وأحضرت - And are swayed| الأنفس - the souls| الشح - (by) greed.| وإن - But if| تحسنوا - you do good| وتتقوا - and fear (Allah),| فإن - then indeed,| الله - Allah| كان - is| بما - of what| تعملون - you do| خبيرا - All-Aware.| | ||||||
| 10. [4:127] | Wayastaftoonaka fee alnnisa-iquli Allahu yufteekum feehinna wama yutlaAAalaykum fee alkitabi fee yatama alnnisa-iallatee la tu/toonahunna ma kutiba lahunnawatarghaboona an tankihoohunna waalmustadAAafeenamina alwildani waan taqoomoo lilyatama bialqistiwama tafAAaloo min khayrin fa-inna Allaha kanabihi AAaleeman | ويستفتونك في النساء قل الله يفتيكم فيهن وما يتلى عليكم في الكتاب في يتامى النساء اللاتي لا تؤتونهن ما كتب لهن وترغبون أن تنكحوهن والمستضعفين من الولدان وأن تقوموا لليتامى بالقسط وما تفعلوا من خير فإن الله كان به عليما وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِي النِّسَاءِ قُلِ اللّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ فِي يَتَامَى النِّسَاءِ الَّاتِي لاَ تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْوِلْدَانِ وَأَن تَقُومُواْ لِلْيَتَامَى بِالْقِسْطِ وَمَا تَفْعَلُواْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ بِهِ عَلِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اے پیغمبر!) لوگ آپ سے (یتیم) عورتوں کے بارے میں فتویٰ پوچھتے ہیں۔ آپ فرما دیں کہ اللہ تمہیں ان کے بارے میں حکم دیتا ہے اور جو حکم تم کو (پہلے سے) کتابِ مجید میں سنایا جا رہا ہے (وہ بھی) ان یتیم عورتوں ہی کے بارے میں ہے جنہیں تم وہ (حقوق) نہیں دیتے جو ان کے لئے مقرر کئے گئے ہیں اور چاہتے ہو کہ (ان کا مال قبضے میں لینے کی خاطر) ان کے ساتھ خود نکاح کر لو اور نیز بے بس بچوں کے بارے میں (بھی حکم) ہے کہ یتیموں کے معاملے میں انصاف پر قائم رہا کرو، اور تم جو بھلائی بھی کروگے تو بیشک اللہ اسے خوب جاننے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They ask thy instruction concerning the women say: Allah doth instruct you about them: And (remember) what hath been rehearsed unto you in the Book, concerning the orphans of women to whom ye give not the portions prescribed, and yet whom ye desire to marry, as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed: that ye stand firm for justice to orphans. There is not a good deed which ye do, but Allah is well-acquainted therewith.

| Words | |ويستفتونك - And they seek your ruling| في - concerning| النساء - the women.| قل - Say,| الله - "Allah| يفتيكم - gives you the ruling| فيهن - about them| وما - and what| يتلى - is recited| عليكم - to you| في - in| الكتاب - the Book| في - concerning| يتامى - orphans| النساء - (of) girls| اللاتي - (to) whom| لا - not| تؤتونهن - (do) you give them| ما - what| كتب - is ordained| لهن - for them| وترغبون - and you desire| أن - to| تنكحوهن - marry them,| والمستضعفين - and the ones who are weak| من - of| الولدان - the children| وأن - and to| تقوموا - stand| لليتامى - for orphans| بالقسط - with justice.| وما - And whatever| تفعلوا - you do| من - of| خير - good| فإن - then indeed,| الله - Allah| كان - is| به - about it| عليما - All-Knowing.| | ||||||
| 11. [4:129] | Walan tastateeAAoo an taAAdiloobayna alnnisa-i walaw harastum falatameeloo kulla almayli fatatharooha kaalmuAAallaqatiwa-in tuslihoo watattaqoo fa-inna Allaha kanaghafooran raheeman | ولن تستطيعوا أن تعدلوا بين النساء ولو حرصتم فلا تميلوا كل الميل فتذروها كالمعلقة وإن تصلحوا وتتقوا فإن الله كان غفورا رحيما وَلَن تَسْتَطِيعُواْ أَن تَعْدِلُواْ بَيْنَ النِّسَاءِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُمْ فَلاَ تَمِيلُواْ كُلَّ الْمَيْلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَالْمُعَلَّقَةِ وَإِن تُصْلِحُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور تم ہرگز اس بات کی طاقت نہیں رکھتے کہ (ایک سے زائد) بیویوں کے درمیان (پورا پورا) عدل کر سکو اگرچہ تم کتنا بھی چاہو۔ پس (ایک کی طرف) پورے میلان طبع کے ساتھ (یوں) نہ جھک جاؤ کہ دوسری کو (درمیان میں) لٹکتی ہوئی چیز کی طرح چھوڑ دو۔ اور اگر تم اصلاح کر لو اور (حق تلفی و زیادتی سے) بچتے رہو تو اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

| Words | |ولن - And never| تستطيعوا - will you be able| أن - to| تعدلوا - deal justly| بين - between| النساء - [the] women| ولو - even if| حرصتم - you desired,| فلا - but (do) not| تميلوا - incline| كل - (with) all| الميل - the inclination| فتذروها - and leave her (the other)| كالمعلقة - like the suspended one.| وإن - And if| تصلحوا - you reconcile| وتتقوا - and fear (Allah)| فإن - then indeed,| الله - Allah| كان - is| غفورا - Oft-Forgiving,| رحيما - Most Merciful.| | ||||||
| 12. [4:130] | Wa-in yatafarraqa yughni Allahukullan min saAAatihi wakana Allahu wasiAAan hakeeman | وإن يتفرقا يغن الله كلا من سعته وكان الله واسعا حكيما وَإِن يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغْنِ اللّهُ كُلاًّ مِّن سَعَتِهِ وَكَانَ اللّهُ وَاسِعًا حَكِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر دونوں (میاں بیوی) جدا ہو جائیں تواللہ ہر ایک کو اپنی کشائش سے (ایک دوسرے سے) بے نیاز کر دے گا اور اللہ بڑی وسعت والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But if they disagree (and must part), Allah will provide abundance for all from His all-reaching bounty: for Allah is He that careth for all and is Wise.

[4:131] | Walillahi ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi walaqad wassaynaallatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum wa-iyyakumani ittaqoo Allaha wa-in takfuroo fa-inna lillahi mafee alssamawati wama fee al-ardiwakana Allahu ghaniyyan hameedan | ولله ما في السماوات وما في الأرض ولقد وصينا الذين أوتوا الكتاب من قبلكم وإياكم أن اتقوا الله وإن تكفروا فإن لله ما في السماوات وما في الأرض وكان الله غنيا حميدا وَلِلّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّيْنَا الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَنِ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَإِن تَكْفُرُواْ فَإِنَّ لِلّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ اللّهُ غَنِيًّا حَمِيدًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اللہ ہی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں اورجو کچھ زمین میں ہے۔ اور بیشک ہم نے ان لوگوں کو (بھی) جنہیں تم سے پہلے کتاب دی گئی حکم دیا ہے اور تمہیں (بھی) کہ اللہ سے ڈرتے رہا کرو۔ اور اگر تم نافرمانی کرو گے تو بیشک (سب کچھ) اللہ ہی کا ہے جو آسمانوں میں اورجو زمین میں ہے اوراللہ بے نیاز، ستودہ صفات ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth. Verily we have directed the People of the Book before you, and you (o Muslims) to fear Allah. But if ye deny Him, lo! unto Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth, and Allah is free of all wants, worthy of all praise.

| 14. [4:132] | Walillahi ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakafa biAllahiwakeelan | ولله ما في السماوات وما في الأرض وكفى بالله وكيلا وَلِلّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَكَفَى بِاللّهِ وَكِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اوراللہ ہی کا ہے جو آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو زمین میں ہے، اور اللہ کا کارساز ہونا کافی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Yea, unto Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth, and enough is Allah to carry through all affairs.

| 15. [4:133] | In yasha/ yuthhibkum ayyuha alnnasuwaya/ti bi-akhareena wakana Allahu AAalathalika qadeeran | إن يشأ يذهبكم أيها الناس ويأت بآخرين وكان الله على ذلك قديرا إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِآخَرِينَ وَكَانَ اللّهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَدِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے لوگو! اگر وہ چاہے تو تمہیں نابود کر دے اور (تمہاری جگہ) دوسروں کو لے آئے، اور اللہ اس پر بڑی قدرت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If it were His will, He could destroy you, o mankind, and create another race; for He hath power this to do.

[4:134] | Man kana yureedu thawaba alddunyafaAAinda Allahi thawabu alddunya waal-akhiratiwakana Allahu sameeAAan baseeran | من كان يريد ثواب الدنيا فعند الله ثواب الدنيا والآخرة وكان الله سميعا بصيرا مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا فَعِندَ اللّهِ ثَوَابُ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَكَانَ اللّهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جو کوئی دنیا کا انعام چاہتا ہے تو اللہ کے پاس دنیا و آخرت (دونوں) کاانعام ہے، اور اللہ خوب سننے والا خوب دیکھنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If any one desires a reward in this life, in Allah's (gift) is the reward (both) of this life and of the hereafter: for Allah is He that heareth and seeth (all things).

[4:135] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanookoonoo qawwameena bialqisti shuhadaalillahi walaw AAala anfusikum awi alwalidayniwaal-aqrabeena in yakun ghaniyyan aw faqeeran faAllahuawla bihima fala tattabiAAoo alhawaan taAAdiloo wa-in talwoo aw tuAAridoo fa-inna Allahakana bima taAAmaloona khabeeran | يا أيها الذين آمنوا كونوا قوامين بالقسط شهداء لله ولو على أنفسكم أو الوالدين والأقربين إن يكن غنيا أو فقيرا فالله أولى بهما فلا تتبعوا الهوى أن تعدلوا وإن تلووا أو تعرضوا فإن الله كان بما تعملون خبيرا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ كُونُواْ قَوَّامِينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَاءَ لِلّهِ وَلَوْ عَلَى أَنفُسِكُمْ أَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ إِن يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا فَاللّهُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا فَلاَ تَتَّبِعُواْ الْهَوَى أَن تَعْدِلُواْ وَإِن تَلْوُواْ أَوْ تُعْرِضُواْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! تم انصاف پر مضبوطی کے ساتھ قائم رہنے والے (محض) اللہ کے لئے گواہی دینے والے ہو جاؤ خواہ (گواہی) خود تمہارے اپنے یا (تمہارے) والدین یا (تمہارے) رشتہ داروں کے ہی خلاف ہو، اگرچہ (جس کے خلاف گواہی ہو) مال دار ہے یا محتاج، اللہ ان دونوں کا (تم سے) زیادہ خیر خواہ ہے۔ سو تم خواہشِ نفس کی پیروی نہ کیا کرو کہ عدل سے ہٹ جاؤ (گے)، اور اگر تم (گواہی میں) پیچ دار بات کرو گے یا (حق سے) پہلو تہی کرو گے تو بیشک اللہ ان سب کاموں سے جو تم کر رہے ہو خبردار ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

[4:136] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooaminoo biAllahi warasoolihi waalkitabiallathee nazzala AAala rasoolihi waalkitabiallathee anzala min qablu waman yakfur biAllahiwamala-ikatihi wakutubihi warusulihi waalyawmi al-akhirifaqad dalla dalalan baAAeedan | يا أيها الذين آمنوا آمنوا بالله ورسوله والكتاب الذي نزل على رسوله والكتاب الذي أنزل من قبل ومن يكفر بالله وملائكته وكتبه ورسله واليوم الآخر فقد ضل ضلالا بعيدا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ آمِنُواْ بِاللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَالْكِتَابِ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ وَالْكِتَابِ الَّذِيَ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبْلُ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِاللّهِ وَمَلاَئِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلاَلاً بَعِيدًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! تم اللہ پر اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر اور اس کتاب پر جو اس نے اپنے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر نازل فرمائی ہے اور اس کتاب پر جو اس نے (اس سے) پہلے اتاری تھی ایمان لاؤ، اور جو کوئی اللہ کا اور اس کے فرشتوں کا اور اس کی کتابوں کا اور اس کے رسولوں کا اور آخرت کے دن کا انکار کرے تو بیشک وہ دور دراز کی گمراہی میں بھٹک گیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.

[4:137] | Inna allatheena amanoo thummakafaroo thumma amanoo thumma kafaroo thumma izdadookufran lam yakuni Allahu liyaghfira lahum walaliyahdiyahum sabeelan | إن الذين آمنوا ثم كفروا ثم آمنوا ثم كفروا ثم ازدادوا كفرا لم يكن الله ليغفر لهم ولا ليهديهم سبيلا إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ آمَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ ازْدَادُواْ كُفْرًا لَّمْ يَكُنِ اللّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلاَ لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک جو لوگ ایمان لائے پھر کافر ہوگئے، پھر ایمان لائے پھر کافر ہوگئے، پھر کفر میں اوربڑھ گئے تواللہ ہرگز (یہ ارادہ فرمانے والا) نہیں کہ انہیں بخش دے اور نہ (یہ کہ) انہیں سیدھا راستہ دکھائے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Those who believe, then reject faith, then believe (again) and (again) reject faith, and go on increasing in unbelief,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them nor guide them on the way.

| 20. [4:138] | Bashshiri almunafiqeena bi-annalahum AAathaban aleeman | بشر المنافقين بأن لهم عذابا أليما بَشِّرِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے نبی!) آپ منافقوں کو یہ خبر سنا دیں کہ ان کے لئے دردناک عذاب ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To the Hypocrites give the glad tidings that there is for them (but) a grievous penalty;-

[4:139] | Allatheena yattakhithoona alkafireenaawliyaa min dooni almu/mineena ayabtaghoona AAindahumualAAizzata fa-inna alAAizzata lillahi jameeAAan | الذين يتخذون الكافرين أولياء من دون المؤمنين أيبتغون عندهم العزة فإن العزة لله جميعا الَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ الْكَافِرِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَيَبْتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ الْعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ العِزَّةَ لِلّهِ جَمِيعًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ) ایسے لوگ (ہیں) جو مسلمانوں کی بجائے کافروں کو دوست بناتے ہیں، کیا یہ ان کے پاس عزت تلاش کرتے ہیں؟ پس عزت تو ساری اللہ (تعالٰی) کے لئے ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Yea, to those who take for friends unbelievers rather than believers: is it honour they seek among them? Nay,- all honour is with Allah.

[4:140] | Waqad nazzala AAalaykum fee alkitabian itha samiAAtum ayati Allahiyukfaru biha wayustahzao biha fala taqAAudoomaAAahum hatta yakhoodoo fee hadeethinghayrihi innakum ithan mithluhum inna Allaha jamiAAualmunafiqeena waalkafireena fee jahannamajameeAAan | وقد نزل عليكم في الكتاب أن إذا سمعتم آيات الله يكفر بها ويستهزأ بها فلا تقعدوا معهم حتى يخوضوا في حديث غيره إنكم إذا مثلهم إن الله جامع المنافقين والكافرين في جهنم جميعا وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ أَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ آيَاتِ اللّهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ بِهَا فَلاَ تَقْعُدُواْ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّى يَخُوضُواْ فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا مِّثْلُهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ جَامِعُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَالْكَافِرِينَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ جَمِيعًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک (اللہ نے) تم پر کتاب میں یہ (حکم) نازل فرمایا ہے کہ جب تم سنو کہ اللہ کی آیتوں کا انکار کیا جا رہا ہے اور ان کا مذاق اُڑایا جا رہا ہے تو تم ان لوگوں کے ساتھ مت بیٹھو یہاں تک کہ وہ (انکار اور تمسخر کو چھوڑ کر) کسی دوسری بات میں مشغول ہو جائیں۔ ورنہ تم بھی انہی جیسے ہو جاؤ گے۔ بیشک اللہ منافقوں اور کافروں سب کو دوزخ میں جمع کرنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Already has He sent you Word in the Book, that when ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme: if ye did, ye would be like them. For Allah will collect the hypocrites and those who defy faith - all in Hell:-

| 23. [4:141] | Allatheena yatarabbasoonabikum fa-in kana lakum fathun mina Allahi qalooalam nakun maAAakum wa-in kana lilkafireena naseebunqaloo alam nastahwith AAalaykum wanamnaAAkummina almu/mineena faAllahu yahkumu baynakumyawma alqiyamati walan yajAAala Allahu lilkafireenaAAala almu/mineena sabeelan | الذين يتربصون بكم فإن كان لكم فتح من الله قالوا ألم نكن معكم وإن كان للكافرين نصيب قالوا ألم نستحوذ عليكم ونمنعكم من المؤمنين فالله يحكم بينكم يوم القيامة ولن يجعل الله للكافرين على المؤمنين سبيلا الَّذِينَ يَتَرَبَّصُونَ بِكُمْ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ فَتْحٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ قَالُواْ أَلَمْ نَكُن مَّعَكُمْ وَإِن كَانَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ نَصِيبٌ قَالُواْ أَلَمْ نَسْتَحْوِذْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَنَمْنَعْكُم مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَاللّهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَن يَجْعَلَ اللّهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ (منافق) جو تمہاری (فتح و شکست کی) تاک میں رہتے ہیں، پھر اگر تمہیں اللہ کی طرف سے فتح نصیب ہو جائے تو کہتے ہیں: کیا ہم تمہارے ساتھ نہ تھے؟ اور اگر کافروں کو (ظاہری فتح میں سے) کچھ حصہ مل گیا تو (ان سے) کہتے ہیں: کیا ہم تم پر غالب نہیں ہو گئے تھے اور (اس کے باوجود) کیا ہم نے تمہیں مسلمانوں (کے ہاتھوں نقصان) سے نہیں بچایا؟ پس اللہ تمہارے درمیان قیامت کے دن فیصلہ فرمائے گا، اور اللہ کافروں کو مسلمانوں پر (غلبہ پانے کی) ہرگز کوئی راہ نہ دے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (These are) the ones who wait and watch about you: if ye do gain a victory from Allah, they say: "Were we not with you?"- but if the unbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): "Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the believers?" but Allah will judge betwixt you on the Day of Judgment. And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers.

| 24. [4:142] | Inna almunafiqeena yukhadiAAoonaAllaha wahuwa khadiAAuhum wa-itha qamooila alssalati qamoo kusalayuraoona alnnasa wala yathkuroonaAllaha illa qaleelan | إن المنافقين يخادعون الله وهو خادعهم وإذا قاموا إلى الصلاة قاموا كسالى يراءون الناس ولا يذكرون الله إلا قليلا إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللّهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُواْ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ قَامُواْ كُسَالَى يُرَآؤُونَ النَّاسَ وَلاَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللّهَ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک منافق (بزعمِ خویش) اللہ کو دھوکہ دینا چاہتے ہیں حالانکہ وہ انہیں (اپنے ہی) دھوکے کی سزا دینے والا ہے، اور جب وہ نماز کے لئے کھڑے ہوتے ہیں تو سستی کے ساتھ (محض) لوگوں کو دکھانے کیلئے کھڑے ہوتے ہیں اور اللہ کویاد (بھی) نہیں کرتے مگر تھوڑا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Hypocrites - they think they are over-reaching Allah, but He will over-reach them: When they stand up to prayer, they stand without earnestness, to be seen of men, but little do they hold Allah in remembrance;

[4:143] | Muthabthabeena bayna thalikala ila haola-i wala ilahaola-i waman yudlili Allahu falantajida lahu sabeelan | مذبذبين بين ذلك لا إلى هؤلاء ولا إلى هؤلاء ومن يضلل الله فلن تجد له سبيلا مُّذَبْذَبِينَ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ لاَ إِلَى هَـؤُلاَءِ وَلاَ إِلَى هَـؤُلاَءِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ سَبِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس (کفر اور ایمان) کے درمیان تذبذب میں ہیں نہ ان (کافروں) کی طرف ہیں اور نہ ان (مؤمنوں) کی طرف ہیں، اورجسے اللہ گمراہ ٹھہرا دے تو آپ ہرگز اس کے لئے کوئی (ہدایت کی) راہ نہ پائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (They are) distracted in mind even in the midst of it,- being (sincerely) for neither one group nor for another whom Allah leaves straying,- never wilt thou find for him the way.

| Words | |مذبذبين - Wavering| بين - between| ذلك - that,| لا - not| إلى - to| هؤلاء - these| ولا - and not| إلى - to| هؤلاء - those.| ومن - And whoever| يضلل - has been lead astray| الله - (by) Allah -| فلن - then never| تجد - you will find| له - for him| سبيلا - a way.| | ||||||

[4:144] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tattakhithoo alkafireena awliyaamin dooni almu/mineena atureedoona an tajAAaloo lillahiAAalaykum sultanan mubeenan | يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا الكافرين أولياء من دون المؤمنين أتريدون أن تجعلوا لله عليكم سلطانا مبينا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ الْكَافِرِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَجْعَلُواْ لِلّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَانًا مُّبِينًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! مسلمانوں کے سوا کافروں کو دوست نہ بناؤ، کیا تم چاہتے ہو کہ (نافرمانوں کی دوستی کے ذریعے) اپنے خلاف اللہ کی صریح حجت قائم کر لو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! Take not for friends unbelievers rather than believers: Do ye wish to offer Allah an open proof against yourselves?

| 27. [4:145] | Inna almunafiqeena fee alddarkial-asfali mina alnnari walan tajida lahum naseeran | إن المنافقين في الدرك الأسفل من النار ولن تجد لهم نصيرا إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک منافق لوگ دوزخ کے سب سے نچلے درجے میں ہوں گے اور آپ ان کے لئے ہرگز کوئی مددگار نہ پائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire: no helper wilt thou find for them;-

[4:146] | Illa allatheena taboowaaslahoo waiAAtasamoo biAllahiwaakhlasoo deenahum lillahi faola-ika maAAaalmu/mineena wasawfa yu/ti Allahu almu/mineena ajran AAatheeman | إلا الذين تابوا وأصلحوا واعتصموا بالله وأخلصوا دينهم لله فأولئك مع المؤمنين وسوف يؤت الله المؤمنين أجرا عظيما إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَأَصْلَحُواْ وَاعْتَصَمُواْ بِاللّهِ وَأَخْلَصُواْ دِينَهُمْ لِلّهِ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَسَوْفَ يُؤْتِ اللّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | مگر وہ لوگ جنہوں نے توبہ کر لی وہ سنور گئے اورانہوں نے اللہ سے مضبوط تعلق جوڑ لیا اور انہوں نے اپنا دین اللہ کے لئے خالص کر لیا تو یہ مؤمنوں کی سنگت میں ہوں گے اور عنقریب اللہ مومنوں کو عظیم اجر عطا فرمائے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Except for those who repent, mend (their lives) hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion as in Allah's sight: if so they will be (numbered) with the believers. And soon will Allah grant to the believers a reward of immense value.

| 29. [4:147] | Ma yafAAalu Allahu biAAathabikumin shakartum waamantum wakana Allahu shakiranAAaleeman | ما يفعل الله بعذابكم إن شكرتم وآمنتم وكان الله شاكرا عليما مَّا يَفْعَلُ اللّهُ بِعَذَابِكُمْ إِن شَكَرْتُمْ وَآمَنتُمْ وَكَانَ اللّهُ شَاكِرًا عَلِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ تمہیں عذاب دے کر کیا کرے گا اگر تم شکر گزار بن جاؤ اور ایمان لے آؤ، اور اللہ (ہر حق کا) قدر شناس ہے (ہر عمل کا) خوب جاننے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | What can Allah gain by your punishment, if ye are grateful and ye believe? Nay, it is Allah that recogniseth (all good), and knoweth all things.

| Tahir ul Qadri | اﷲ کسی (کی) بری بات کا بآوازِ بلند (ظاہراً و علانیۃً) کہنا پسند نہیں فرماتا سوائے اس کے جس پر ظلم ہوا ہو (اسے ظالم کا ظلم آشکار کرنے کی اجازت ہے)، اور اﷲ خوب سننے والا جاننے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Allah loveth not that evil should be noised abroad in public speech, except where injustice hath been done; for Allah is He who heareth and knoweth all things.
