Falamma wadaAAat-ha qalatrabbi innee wadaAAtuha ontha waAllahuaAAlamu bima wadaAAat walaysa alththakarukaalontha wa-innee sammaytuha maryamawa-innee oAAeethuha bika wathurriyyatahamina alshshaytani alrrajeemi فلما وضعتها قالت رب إني وضعتها أنثى والله أعلم بما وضعت وليس الذكر كالأنثى وإني سميتها مريم وإني أعيذها بك وذريتها من الشيطان الرجيم
فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْهَا قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَضَعْتُهَا أُنثَى وَاللّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ الذَّكَرُ كَالْأُنثَى وَإِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وِإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

  پھر جب اس نے لڑکی جنی تو عرض کرنے لگی: مولا! میں نے تو یہ لڑکی جنی ہے، حالانکہ جو کچھ اس نے جنا تھا اﷲ اسے خوب جانتا تھا، (وہ بولی:) اور لڑکا (جو میں نے مانگا تھا) ہرگز اس لڑکی جیسا نہیں (ہو سکتا) تھا (جو اﷲ نے عطا کی ہے)، اور میں نے اس کا نام ہی مریم (عبادت گزار) رکھ دیا ہے اور بیشک میں اس کو اور اس کی اولاد کو شیطان مردود (کے شر) سے تیری پناہ میں دیتی ہوں

Yousuf AliWhen she was delivered, she said: "O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!"- and Allah knew best what she brought forth- "And no wise is the male Like the female. I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Thy protection from the Evil One, the Rejected."

Abul Ala Maududiپھر جب وہ بچی اس کے ہاں پیدا ہوئی تو اس نے کہا "مالک! میرے ہاں تو لڑکی پیدا ہو گئی ہے حالانکہ جو کچھ اس نے جنا تھا، اللہ کو اس کی خبر تھی اور لڑکا لڑ کی کی طرح نہیں ہوتا خیر، میں نے اس کا نام مریمؑ رکھ دیا ہے اور میں اسے اور اس کی آئندہ نسل کو شیطان مردود کے فتنے سے تیری پناہ میں دیتی ہوں"

QXP Shabbir Ahemd**When she was delivered she said, "My Lord! I am delivered of a female." Allah knew best what she delivered; the male is not the same as the female. (The male she had prayed for could have not been like the outstanding daughter she was granted). "I have named her Mary, I request Your protection for her and for her descendants from the rejected Satan." (Allah knew that this female would have a role, which no male could have, in breaking the shackles of asceticism. As a custom, nuns were allowed to marry only monks during those times).
