Wa-ith akhatha Allahumeethaqa allatheena ootoo alkitabalatubayyinunnahu lilnnasi wala taktumoonahufanabathoohu waraa thuhoorihim waishtarawbihi thamanan qaleelan fabi/sa ma yashtaroona وإذ أخذ الله ميثاق الذين أوتوا الكتاب لتبيننه للناس ولا تكتمونه فنبذوه وراء ظهورهم واشتروا به ثمنا قليلا فبئس ما يشترون
وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللّهُ مِيثَاقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلاَ تَكْتُمُونَهُ فَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ وَاشْتَرَوْاْ بِهِ ثَمَناً قَلِيلاً فَبِئْسَ مَا يَشْتَرُونَ

  اور جب اللہ نے ان لوگوں سے پختہ وعدہ لیا جنہیں کتاب عطا کی گئی تھی کہ تم ضرور اسے لوگوں سے صاف صاف بیان کرو گے اور (جو کچھ اس میں بیان ہوا ہے) اسے نہیں چھپاؤ گے تو انہوں نے اس عہد کو پسِ پشت ڈال دیا اور اس کے بدلے تھوڑی سی قیمت وصول کر لی، سو یہ ان کی بہت ہی بُری خریداری ہے

Ahmed Aliاور جب الله نے اہلِ کتاب سے یہ عہد لیا کہ اسے لوگوں سے ضرور بیان کرو گے اورنہ چھپاؤ گے انہوں نے وہ عہد اپنی پیٹھ کے پیچھے پھینک دیا اور اس کے بدلے میں تھوڑا سا مول خرید کیا سو کیا ہی برا ہے جو وہ خریدتے ہیں

Abul Ala Maududiاِن اہل کتاب کو وہ عہد بھی یاد دلاؤ جو اللہ نے ان سے لیا تھا کہ تمہیں کتاب کی تعلیمات کو لوگوں میں پھیلانا ہوگا، انہیں پوشیدہ رکھنا نہیں ہوگا مگر انہوں نے کتاب کو پس پشت ڈال دیا اور تھوڑی قیمت پر اُسے بیچ ڈالا کتنا برا کاروبار ہے جو یہ کر رہے ہیں
