| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[2:266] | Ayawaddu ahadukum an takoona lahujannatun min nakheelin waaAAnabin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu lahu feeha min kulli alththamaratiwaasabahu alkibaru walahu thurriyyatun duAAafaofaasabaha iAAsarun feehi narun faihtaraqatkathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu al-ayatilaAAallakum tatafakkaroona |  أيود أحدكم أن تكون له جنة من نخيل وأعناب تجري من تحتها الأنهار له فيها من كل الثمرات وأصابه الكبر وله ذرية ضعفاء فأصابها إعصار فيه نار فاحترقت كذلك يبين الله لكم الآيات لعلكم تتفكرونأَيَوَدُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ لَهُ جَنَّةٌ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ لَهُ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ وَأَصَابَهُ الْكِبَرُ وَلَهُ ذُرِّيَّةٌ ضُعَفَاءُ فَأَصَابَهَا إِعْصَارٌ فِيهِ نَارٌ فَاحْتَرَقَتْ كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّهُ لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا تم میں سے کوئی شخص یہ پسند کرے گا کہ اس کے پاس کھجوروں اور انگوروں کا ایک باغ ہو جس کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں اس کے لئے اس میں (کھجوروں اور انگوروں کے علاوہ بھی) ہر قسم کے پھل ہوں اور (ایسے وقت میں) اسے بڑھاپا آپہنچے اور (ابھی) اس کی اولاد بھی ناتواں ہو اور (ایسے وقت میں) اس باغ پر ایک بگولا آجائے جس میں (نِری) آگ ہو اور وہ باغ جل جائے (تو اس کی محرومی اور پریشانی کا عالم کیا ہو گا)، اسی طرح اﷲ تمہارے لئے نشانیاں واضح طور پر بیان فرماتا ہے تاکہ تم غور کرو (سو کیا تم چاہتے ہو کہ آخرت میں تمہارے اعمال کا باغ بھی ریاکاری کی آگ میں جل کر بھسم ہو جائے اور تمہیں سنبھالا دینے والا بھی کوئی نہ ہو) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Does any of you wish that he should have a garden with date-palms and vines and streams flowing underneath, and all kinds of fruit, while he is stricken with old age, and his children are not strong (enough to look after themselves)- that it should be caught in a whirlwind, with fire therein, and be burnt up? Thus doth Allah make clear to you (His) Signs; that ye may consider.

| Literal | Does one of you (like that to) be for him a treed garden from palm trees and grapes, the rivers flow from below/beneath it . For him in it (are) from all the fruits, and old age struck him , and for him (are) weak descendants, (then) a twister/tornado in it fire, struck it, so it burnt. That is how God clarifies/explains to you the signs/evidences , maybe you think. | ||||||

| QXP Shabbir Ahemd** | Would any of you wish that he had a beautiful, bountiful garden of dates and vineyards with rivulets flowing underneath it, but while age catches up on him and he has feeble offspring, a fiery tornado suddenly strikes and consumes it? This is how Allah wants you to reflect upon the Long Term. Your contribution to the society ensures you the Garden which neither a tornado, nor a hurricane dare take away from you (15:48). | ||||||
