| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [17:73] | Wa-in kadoo layaftinoonaka AAani allatheeawhayna ilayka litaftariya AAalayna ghayrahuwa-ithan laittakhathooka khaleelan |  وإن كادوا ليفتنونك عن الذي أوحينا إليك لتفتري علينا غيره وإذا لاتخذوك خليلاوَإِن كَادُواْ لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ الَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِيَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَهُ وَإِذًا لاَّتَّخَذُوكَ خَلِيلاً | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کفار تو یہی چاہتے تھے کہ آپ کو اس (حکمِ الٰہی) سے پھیر دیں جس کی ہم نے آپ کی طرف وحی فرمائی ہے تاکہ آپ اس (وحی) کے سوا ہم پر کچھ اور (باتوں) کو منسوب کر دیں اور تب آپ کو اپنا دوست بنا لیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And their purpose was to tempt thee away from that which We had revealed unto thee, to substitute in our name something quite different; (in that case), behold! they would certainly have made thee (their) friend!

| Literal | And if they were about to/almost to misguide/seduce/mislead you (E) (away) from what We inspired/transmitted to you, to fabricate/cut and split on (about) Us other than it, and then they would have taken you (as) a faithful , close friend . | ||||||

| Malik | O Muhammad! These people have tried to entice you from Our revelations, hoping that you might fabricate something in Our name. Had you done that, they would have made you their friend.[73] | ||||||
