Falamma samiAAat bimakrihinna arsalatilayhinna waaAAtadat lahunna muttakaan waatat kulla wahidatinminhunna sikkeenan waqalati okhruj AAalayhinna falammaraaynahu akbarnahu waqattaAAna aydiyahunna waqulna hashalillahi ma hatha basharan in hathailla malakun kareemun فلما سمعت بمكرهن أرسلت إليهن وأعتدت لهن متكأ وآتت كل واحدة منهن سكينا وقالت اخرج عليهن فلما رأينه أكبرنه وقطعن أيديهن وقلن حاش لله ما هذا بشرا إن هذا إلا ملك كريم
فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَأً وَآتَتْ كُلَّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِّنْهُنَّ سِكِّينًا وَقَالَتِ اخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُ أَكْبَرْنَهُ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلّهِ مَا هَـذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَـذَا إِلاَّ مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ

  پس جب اس (زلیخا) نے ان کی مکارانہ باتیں سنیں (تو) انہیں بلوا بھیجا اور ان کے لئے مجلس آراستہ کی (پھر ان کے سامنے پھل رکھ دیئے) اور ان میں سے ہر ایک کو ایک ایک چھری دے دی اور (یوسف علیہ السلام سے) درخواست کی کہ ذرا ان کے سامنے سے (ہوکر) نکل جاؤ (تاکہ انہیں بھی میری کیفیت کا سبب معلوم ہو جائے)، سو جب انہوں نے یوسف (علیہ السلام کے حسنِ زیبا) کو دیکھا تو اس (کے جلوۂ جمال) کی بڑائی کرنے لگیں اور وہ (مدہوشی کے عالم میں پھل کاٹنے کے بجائے) اپنے ہاتھ کاٹ بیٹھیں اور (دیکھ لینے کے بعد بے ساختہ) بول اٹھیں: اﷲ کی پناہ! یہ تو بشر نہیں ہے، یہ تو بس کوئی برگزیدہ فرشتہ (یعنی عالمِ بالا سے اترا ہوا نور کا پیکر) ہے

Shabbir Ahmed پھر جب سنی اس نے ان کی عیّارانہ باتیں تو بُلا بھیجا اُنہیں اور آراستہ کی اُن کے لیے تکیہ دار مجلس اور دی ہر ایک عورت کو اُن میں سے ایک چھُری اور کہا (یُوسف سے) نکل آ، ان کے سامنے۔ پھر جب دیکھا ان عورتوں نے یوسف کو دنگ رہ گئیں اور کاٹ بیٹھیں اپنے ہاتھ اور بولیں حاشا لِلّہ: نہیں ہے یہ شخص انسان۔ نہیں ہے یہ مگر کوئی بزرگ فرشتہ۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyجب زلیخا نے ان عورتوں کی (گفتگو جو حقیقت میں دیدار یوسف کے لیے ایک) چال (تھی) سنی تو ان کے پاس (دعوت کا) پیغام بھیجا اور ان کے لیے ایک محفل مرتب کی۔ اور (پھل تراشنے کے لیے) ہر ایک کو ایک چھری دی اور (یوسف سے) کہا کہ ان کے سامنے باہر آؤ۔ جب عورتوں نے ان کو دیکھا تو ان کا رعب (حسن) ان پر (ایسا) چھا گیا کہ (پھل تراشتے تراشتے) اپنے ہاتھ کاٹ لیے اور بےساختہ بول اٹھیں کہ سبحان الله (یہ حسن) یہ آدمی نہیں کوئی بزرگ فرشتہ ہے

Abul Ala Maududiاس نے جو اُن کی یہ مکارانہ باتیں سنیں تو اُن کو بلاوا بھیج دیا اور ان کے لیے تکیہ دار مجلس آراستہ کی اور ضیافت میں ہر ایک کے آگے ایک چھری رکھ دی (پھر عین اس وقت جبکہ وہ پھل کاٹ کاٹ کر کھا رہی تھیں) اس نے یوسفؑ کو اشارہ کیا کہ ان کے سامنے نکل آ جب ان عورتوں کی نگاہ اس پر پڑی تو وہ دنگ رہ گئیں اور اپنے ہاتھ کاٹ بیٹھیں اور بے ساختہ پکا ر اٹھیں "حاشاللّٰہ، یہ شخص انسان نہیں ہے، یہ تو کوئی بزرگ فرشتہ ہے"

Then, when they saw him, they exalted him (at his beauty) and (in their astonishment) cut their hands. They said: "How perfect is Allah (or Allah forbid)! No man is this! This is none other than a noble angel!"
QXP Shabbir Ahemd**When she heard their gossip, she invited them, and prepared comfortable couches for them, and they schemed. She gave a knife to each of the women. Then, she called Joseph, "Come out unto them!" And when they saw him they flattered him and 'cut their hands'. They exclaimed in their flattery, "Good Lord! This is no mortal man! This is but an angel!" (The governor's wife and her friends had planned to incriminate Joseph, and they were just buying time. They made marks on their hands to feign self-defense. There is absolutely no mention of the supposed "beauty' of Joseph, a fabrication adopted by most commentators from the Bible! Secondly, the root word QAT'A in this verse is of very special significance. Did these women chop off their hands? Must the thieves get their hands chopped off? Please see (5:38-39)).
