| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [12:60] | Fa-in lam ta/toonee bihi fala kaylalakum AAindee wala taqrabooni |  فإن لم تأتوني به فلا كيل لكم عندي ولا تقربونفَإِن لَّمْ تَأْتُونِي بِهِ فَلاَ كَيْلَ لَكُمْ عِندِي وَلاَ تَقْرَبُونِ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | پس اگر تم اسے میرے پاس نہ لائے تو (آئندہ) تمہارے لئے میرے پاس (غلہ کا) کوئی پیمانہ نہ ہوگا اور نہ (ہی) تم میرے قریب آسکو گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Now if ye bring him not to me, ye shall have no measure (of corn) from me, nor shall ye (even) come near me."

| 2. [12:61] | Qaloo sanurawidu AAanhu abahuwa-inna lafaAAiloona | قالوا سنراود عنه أباه وإنا لفاعلون قَالُواْ سَنُرَاوِدُ عَنْهُ أَبَاهُ وَإِنَّا لَفَاعِلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ بولے: ہم اس کے بھیجنے سے متعلق اس کے باپ سے ضرور تقاضا کریں گے اور ہم یقیناً (ایسا) کریں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "We shall certainly seek to get our wish about him from his father: Indeed we shall do it."

[12:62] | Waqala lifityanihi ijAAaloo bidaAAatahumfee rihalihim laAAallahum yaAArifoonaha ithainqalaboo ila ahlihim laAAallahum yarjiAAoona | وقال لفتيانه اجعلوا بضاعتهم في رحالهم لعلهم يعرفونها إذا انقلبوا إلى أهلهم لعلهم يرجعون وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَانِهِ اجْعَلُواْ بِضَاعَتَهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَا إِذَا انقَلَبُواْ إِلَى أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے اپنے غلاموں سے فرمایا: ان کی رقم (جو انہوں نے غلہ کے عوض اد اکی تھی واپس) ان کی بوریوں میں رکھ دو تاکہ جب وہ اپنے گھر والوں کی طرف لوٹیں تو اسے پہچان لیں (کہ یہ رقم تو واپس آگئی ہے) شاید وہ (اسی سبب سے) لوٹ کر آجائیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And (Joseph) told his servants to put their stock-in-trade (with which they had bartered) into their saddle-bags, so they should know it only when they returned to their people, in order that they might come back.

[12:63] | Falamma rajaAAoo ila abeehim qalooya abana muniAAa minna alkaylufaarsil maAAana akhana naktal wa-innalahu lahafithoona | فلما رجعوا إلى أبيهم قالوا يا أبانا منع منا الكيل فأرسل معنا أخانا نكتل وإنا له لحافظون فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا إِلَى أَبِيهِمْ قَالُواْ يَا أَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو جب وہ اپنے والد کی طرف لوٹے (تو) کہنے لگے: اے ہمارے باپ! (آئندہ کے لئے) ہم پر غلہ بند کر دیا گیا ہے (سوائے اس کے کہ بنیامین ہمارے ساتھ جائے) پس ہمارے بھائی (بنیامین) کو ہمارے ساتھ بھیج دیں (تاکہ) ہم (مزید) غلہ لے آئیں اور ہم یقیناً اس کے محافظ ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Now when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him."

[12:64] | Qala hal amanukum AAalayhi illakama amintukum AAala akheehi min qablu faAllahukhayrun hafithan wahuwa arhamu alrrahimeena | قال هل آمنكم عليه إلا كما أمنتكم على أخيه من قبل فالله خير حافظا وهو أرحم الراحمين قَالَ هَلْ آمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ كَمَا أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَى أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ فَاللّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: کیا میں اس کے بارے میں (بھی) تم پر اسی طرح اعتماد کر لوں جیسے اس سے قبل میں نے اس کے بھائی (یوسف علیہ السلام) کے بارے میں تم پر اعتماد کر لیا تھا؟ تو اﷲ ہی بہتر حفاظت فرمانے والا ہے اور وہی سب مہربانوں سے زیادہ مہربان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "Shall I trust you with him with any result other than when I trusted you with his brother aforetime? But Allah is the best to take care (of him), and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!"

[12:69] | Walamma dakhaloo AAala yoosufaawa ilayhi akhahu qala innee anaakhooka fala tabta-is bima kanoo yaAAmaloona | ولما دخلوا على يوسف آوى إليه أخاه قال إني أنا أخوك فلا تبتئس بما كانوا يعملون وَلَمَّا دَخَلُواْ عَلَى يُوسُفَ آوَى إِلَيْهِ أَخَاهُ قَالَ إِنِّي أَنَاْ أَخُوكَ فَلاَ تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب وہ یوسف (علیہ السلام) کے پاس حاضر ہوئے تو یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے اپنے بھائی (بنیامین) کو اپنے پاس جگہ دی (اسے آہستہ سے) کہا: بیشک میں ہی تیرا بھائی (یوسف) ہوں پس تو غمزدہ نہ ہو ان کاموں پر جو یہ کرتے رہے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Now when they came into Joseph's presence, he received his (full) brother to stay with him. He said (to him): "Behold! I am thy (own) brother; so grieve not at aught of their doings."

[12:65] | Walamma fatahoo mataAAahumwajadoo bidaAAatahum ruddat ilayhim qaloo yaabana ma nabghee hathihi bidaAAatunaruddat ilayna wanameeru ahlana wanahfathuakhana wanazdadu kayla baAAeerin thalikakaylun yaseerun | ولما فتحوا متاعهم وجدوا بضاعتهم ردت إليهم قالوا يا أبانا ما نبغي هذه بضاعتنا ردت إلينا ونمير أهلنا ونحفظ أخانا ونزداد كيل بعير ذلك كيل يسير وَلَمَّا فَتَحُواْ مَتَاعَهُمْ وَجَدُواْ بِضَاعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالُواْ يَا أَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِي هَـذِهِ بِضَاعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ذَلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب انہوں نے اپنا سامان کھولا (تو اس میں) اپنی رقم پائی (جو) انہیں لوٹا دی گئی تھی، وہ کہنے لگے: اے ہمارے والد گرامی! ہمیں اور کیا چاہئے؟ یہ ہماری رقم (بھی) ہماری طرف لوٹا دی گئی ہے اور (اب تو) ہم اپنے گھر والوں کے لئے (ضرور ہی) غلہ لائیں گے اور ہم اپنے بھائی کی حفاظت کریں گے اور ایک اونٹ کا بوجھ اور زیادہ لائیں گے، اور یہ (غلہ جو ہم پہلے لائے ہیں) تھوڑی مقدار (میں) ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity.

| Words | |ولما - And when| فتحوا - they opened| متاعهم - their baggage,| وجدوا - they found| بضاعتهم - their merchandise| ردت - returned| إليهم - to them.| قالوا - They said,| يا - O| أبانا - "O our father!| ما - What| نبغي - (could) we desire?| هذه - This| بضاعتنا - (is) our merchandise| ردت - returned| إلينا - to us.| ونمير - And we will get provision| أهلنا - (for) our family,| ونحفظ - and we will protect| أخانا - our brother| ونزداد - and get an increase| كيل - measure| بعير - (of) a camel's (load).| ذلك - That| كيل - (is) a measurement| يسير - easy."| | ||||||

[12:70] | Falamma jahhazahum bijahazihimjaAAala alssiqayata fee rahli akheehi thummaaththana mu-aththinun ayyatuha alAAeeruinnakum lasariqoona | فلما جهزهم بجهازهم جعل السقاية في رحل أخيه ثم أذن مؤذن أيتها العير إنكم لسارقون فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ السِّقَايَةَ فِي رَحْلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا الْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَارِقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر جب (یوسف علیہ السلام نے) ان کا سامان انہیں مہیا کر دیا تو (شاہی) پیالہ اپنے بھائی (بنیامین) کی بوری میں رکھ دیا بعد ازاں پکارنے والے نے آواز دی: اے قافلہ والو! (ٹھہرو) یقیناً تم لوگ ہی چور (معلوم ہوتے) ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | At length when he had furnished them forth with provisions (suitable) for them, he put the drinking cup into his brother's saddle-bag. Then shouted out a crier: "O ye (in) the caravan! behold! ye are thieves, without doubt!"

[12:66] | Qala lan orsilahu maAAakum hattatu/tooni mawthiqan mina Allahi lata/tunnanee bihi illaan yuhata bikum falamma atawhu mawthiqahum qalaAllahu AAala ma naqoolu wakeelun | قال لن أرسله معكم حتى تؤتون موثقا من الله لتأتنني به إلا أن يحاط بكم فلما آتوه موثقهم قال الله على ما نقول وكيل قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّى تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ اللّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِي بِهِ إِلاَّ أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ فَلَمَّا آتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللّهُ عَلَى مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: میں اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہیں بھیجوں گا یہاں تک کہ تم اﷲ کی قسم کھا کر مجھے پختہ وعدہ دو کہ تم اسے ضرور میرے پاس (واپس) لے آؤ گے سوائے اس کے کہ تم (سب) کو (کہیں) گھیر لیا جائے (یا ہلاک کر دیا جائے)، پھر جب انہوں نے یعقوب (علیہ السلام) کو اپنا پختہ عہد دے دیا تو یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: جو کچھ ہم کہہ رہے ہیں اس پر اﷲ نگہبان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Jacob) said: "Never will I send him with you until ye swear a solemn oath to me, in Allah's name, that ye will be sure to bring him back to me unless ye are yourselves hemmed in (and made powerless). And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Over all that we say, be Allah the witness and guardian!"

| 10. [12:71] | Qaloo waaqbaloo AAalayhim mathatafqidoona | قالوا وأقبلوا عليهم ماذا تفقدون قَالُواْ وَأَقْبَلُواْ عَلَيْهِم مَّاذَا تَفْقِدُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ ان کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر کہنے لگے: تمہاری کیا چیز گم ہوگئی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said, turning towards them: "What is it that ye miss?"

[12:67] | Waqala ya baniyya latadkhuloo min babin wahidin waodkhuloo minabwabin mutafarriqatin wama oghnee AAankum mina Allahimin shay-in ini alhukmu illa lillahiAAalayhi tawakkaltu waAAalayhi falyatawakkali almutawakkiloona | وقال يا بني لا تدخلوا من باب واحد وادخلوا من أبواب متفرقة وما أغني عنكم من الله من شيء إن الحكم إلا لله عليه توكلت وعليه فليتوكل المتوكلون وَقَالَ يَا بَنِيَّ لاَ تَدْخُلُواْ مِن بَابٍ وَاحِدٍ وَادْخُلُواْ مِنْ أَبْوَابٍ مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍ وَمَا أُغْنِي عَنكُم مِّنَ اللّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلاَّ لِلّهِ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور فرمایا: اے میرے بیٹو! (شہر میں) ایک دروازے سے داخل نہ ہونا بلکہ مختلف دروازوں سے (تقسیم ہو کر) داخل ہونا، اور میں تمہیں اﷲ (کے اَمر) سے کچھ نہیں بچا سکتا کہ حکم (تقدیر) صرف اﷲ ہی کے لئے ہے۔ میں نے اسی پر بھروسہ کیا ہے اور بھروسہ کرنے والوں کو اسی پر بھروسہ کرنا چاہئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Further he said: "O my sons! enter not all by one gate: enter ye by different gates. Not that I can profit you aught against Allah (with my advice): None can command except Allah: On Him do I put my trust: and let all that trust put their trust on Him."

[12:68] | Walamma dakhaloo min haythuamarahum aboohum ma kana yughnee AAanhum mina Allahimin shay-in illa hajatan fee nafsi yaAAqooba qadahawa-innahu lathoo AAilmin lima AAallamnahuwalakinna akthara alnnasi layaAAlamoona | ولما دخلوا من حيث أمرهم أبوهم ما كان يغني عنهم من الله من شيء إلا حاجة في نفس يعقوب قضاها وإنه لذو علم لما علمناه ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون وَلَمَّا دَخَلُواْ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِي عَنْهُم مِّنَ اللّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ إِلاَّ حَاجَةً فِي نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَاهَا وَإِنَّهُ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب وہ (مصر میں) داخل ہوئے جس طرح ان کے باپ نے انہیں حکم دیا تھا، وہ (حکم) انہیں اﷲ (کی تقدیر) سے کچھ نہیں بچا سکتا تھا مگر یہ یعقوب (علیہ السلام) کے دل کی ایک خواہش تھی جسے اس نے پورا کیا، اور (اس خواہش و تدبیر کو لغو بھی نہ سمجھنا، تمہیں کیا خبر!) بیشک یعقوب (علیہ السلام) صاحبِ علم تھے اس وجہ سے کہ ہم نے انہیں علمِ (خاص) سے نوازا تھا مگر اکثر لوگ (ان حقیقتوں کو) نہیں جانتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And when they entered in the manner their father had enjoined, it did not profit them in the least against (the plan of) Allah: It was but a necessity of Jacob's soul, which he discharged. For he was, by our instruction, full of knowledge (and experience): but most men know not.

| 13. [12:72] | Qaloo nafqidu suwaAAaalmaliki waliman jaa bihi himlu baAAeerin waanabihi zaAAeemun | قالوا نفقد صواع الملك ولمن جاء به حمل بعير وأنا به زعيم قَالُواْ نَفْقِدُ صُوَاعَ الْمَلِكِ وَلِمَن جَاءَ بِهِ حِمْلُ بَعِيرٍ وَأَنَاْ بِهِ زَعِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ (درباری ملازم) بولے: ہمیں بادشاہ کا پیالہ نہیں مل رہا اور جو کوئی اسے (ڈھونڈ کر) لے آئے اس کے لئے ایک اونٹ کا غلہ (انعام) ہے اور میں اس کا ذمہ دار ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "We miss the great beaker of the king; for him who produces it, is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it."

| Words | |قالوا - They said,| نفقد - "We are missing| صواع - (the) cup| الملك - (of) the king.| ولمن - And for (one) who| جاء - brings| به - it,| حمل - (is) a load| بعير - (of) a camel,| وأنا - and I| به - for it| زعيم - (is) responsible."| | ||||||
| 14. [12:73] | Qaloo taAllahi laqadAAalimtum ma ji/na linufsida fee al-ardi wamakunna sariqeena | قالوا تالله لقد علمتم ما جئنا لنفسد في الأرض وما كنا سارقين قَالُواْ تَاللّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا جِئْنَا لِنُفْسِدَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَارِقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ کہنے لگے: اﷲ کی قسم! بیشک تم جان گئے ہو (گے) ہم اس لئے نہیں آئے تھے کہ (جرم کا ارتکاب کر کے) زمین میں فساد بپا کریں اور نہ ہی ہم چور ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (The brothers) said: "By Allah! well ye know that we came not to make mischief in the land, and we are no thieves!"

| Words | |قالوا - They said,| تالله - "By Allah| لقد - certainly| علمتم - you know,| ما - not| جئنا - we came| لنفسد - that we cause corruption| في - in| الأرض - the land,| وما - and not| كنا - we are| سارقين - thieves."| | ||||||
| 15. [12:74] | Qaloo fama jazaohu inkuntum kathibeena | قالوا فما جزاؤه إن كنتم كاذبين قَالُواْ فَمَا جَزَآؤُهُ إِن كُنتُمْ كَاذِبِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ (ملازم) بولے: (تم خود ہی بتاؤ) کہ اس (چور) کی کیا سزا ہوگی اگر تم جھوٹے نکلے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (The Egyptians) said: "What then shall be the penalty of this, if ye are (proved) to have lied?"

| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے کہا: اس کی سزا یہ ہے کہ جس کے سامان میں سے وہ (پیالہ) برآمد ہو وہ خود ہی اس کا بدلہ ہے (یعنی اسی کو اس کے بدلہ میں رکھ لیا جائے)، ہم ظالموں کو اسی طرح سزا دیتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "The penalty should be that he in whose saddle-bag it is found, should be held (as bondman) to atone for the (crime). Thus it is we punish the wrong-doers!"

[12:77] | Qaloo in yasriq faqad saraqa akhunlahu min qablu faasarraha yoosufu fee nafsihi walam yubdihalahum qala antum sharrun makanan waAllahuaAAlamu bima tasifoona | قالوا إن يسرق فقد سرق أخ له من قبل فأسرها يوسف في نفسه ولم يبدها لهم قال أنتم شر مكانا والله أعلم بما تصفون قَالُواْ إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِي نَفْسِهِ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَاللّهُ أَعْلَمْ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے کہا: اگر اس نے چوری کی ہے (تو کوئی تعجب نہیں) بیشک اس کا بھائی (یوسف) بھی اس سے پہلے چوری کر چکا ہے، سو یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے یہ بات اپنے دل میں (چھپائی) رکھی اور اسے ان پر ظاہر نہ کیا، (دل میں ہی) کہا: تمہارا حال نہایت برا ہے، اور اﷲ خوب جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم بیان کر رہے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his who did steal before (him)." But these things did Joseph keep locked in his heart, revealing not the secrets to them. He (simply) said (to himself): "Ye are the worse situated; and Allah knoweth best the truth of what ye assert!"

[12:76] | Fabadaa bi-awAAiyatihim qabla wiAAa-iakheehi thumma istakhrajaha min wiAAa-i akheehi kathalikakidna liyoosufa ma kana liya/khuthaakhahu fee deeni almaliki illa an yashaa AllahunarfaAAu darajatin man nashao wafawqa kulli theeAAilmin AAaleemun | فبدأ بأوعيتهم قبل وعاء أخيه ثم استخرجها من وعاء أخيه كذلك كدنا ليوسف ما كان ليأخذ أخاه في دين الملك إلا أن يشاء الله نرفع درجات من نشاء وفوق كل ذي علم عليم فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَاءِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِن وِعَاءِ أَخِيهِ كَذَلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِي دِينِ الْمَلِكِ إِلاَّ أَن يَشَاءَ اللّهُ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مِّن نَّشَاءُ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے اپنے بھائی کی بوری سے پہلے ان کی بوریوں کی تلاشی شروع کی پھر (بالآخر) اس (پیالے) کو اپنے (سگے) بھائی (بنیامین) کی بوری سے نکال لیا۔ یوں ہم نے یوسف (علیہ السلام) کو تدبیر بتائی۔ وہ اپنے بھائی کو بادشاہِ (مصر) کے قانون کی رو سے (اسیر بنا کر) نہیں رکھ سکتے تھے مگر یہ کہ (جیسے) اﷲ چاہے۔ ہم جس کے چاہتے ہیں درجات بلند کر دیتے ہیں، اور ہر صاحبِ علم سے اوپر (بھی) ایک علم والا ہوتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So he began (the search) with their baggage, before (he came to) the baggage of his brother: at length he brought it out of his brother's baggage. Thus did We plan for Joseph. He could not take his brother by the law of the king except that Allah willed it (so). We raise to degrees (of wisdom) whom We please: but over all endued with knowledge is one, the All-Knowing.

[12:78] | Qaloo ya ayyuhaalAAazeezu inna lahu aban shaykhan kabeeran fakhuth ahadanamakanahu inna naraka mina almuhsineena | قالوا يا أيها العزيز إن له أبا شيخا كبيرا فخذ أحدنا مكانه إنا نراك من المحسنين قَالُواْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُ أَبًا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُ إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ بولے: اے عزیزِ مصر! اس کے والد بڑے معمر بزرگ ہیں، آپ اس کی جگہ ہم میں سے کسی کو پکڑ لیں، بیشک ہم آپ کو احسان کرنے والوں میں پاتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "O exalted one! Behold! he has a father, aged and venerable, (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place; for we see that thou art (gracious) in doing good."

| 20. [12:79] | Qala maAAatha Allahi anna/khutha illa man wajadna mataAAanaAAindahu inna ithan lathalimoona | قال معاذ الله أن نأخذ إلا من وجدنا متاعنا عنده إنا إذا لظالمون قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللّهِ أَن نَّأْخُذَ إِلاَّ مَن وَجَدْنَا مَتَاعَنَا عِندَهُ إِنَّـآ إِذًا لَّظَالِمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: اﷲ کی پناہ کہ ہم نے جس کے پاس اپنا سامان پایا اس کے سوا کسی (اور) کو پکڑ لیں تب تو ہم ظالموں میں سے ہو جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "Allah forbid that we take other than him with whom we found our property: indeed (if we did so), we should be acting wrongfully.

[12:80] | Falamma istay-asoo minhu khalasoonajiyyan qala kabeeruhum alam taAAlamoo anna abakumqad akhatha AAalaykum mawthiqan mina Allahi waminqablu ma farrattum fee yoosufa falan abrahaal-arda hatta ya/thana lee abee aw yahkumaAllahu lee wahuwa khayru alhakimeena | فلما استيأسوا منه خلصوا نجيا قال كبيرهم ألم تعلموا أن أباكم قد أخذ عليكم موثقا من الله ومن قبل ما فرطتم في يوسف فلن أبرح الأرض حتى يأذن لي أبي أو يحكم الله لي وهو خير الحاكمين فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْأَسُواْ مِنْهُ خَلَصُواْ نَجِيًّا قَالَ كَبِيرُهُمْ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ أَبَاكُمْ قَدْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُم مَّوْثِقًا مِّنَ اللّهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ مَا فَرَّطتُمْ فِي يُوسُفَ فَلَنْ أَبْرَحَ الْأَرْضَ حَتَّىَ يَأْذَنَ لِي أَبِي أَوْ يَحْكُمَ اللّهُ لِي وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر جب وہ یوسف (علیہ السلام) سے مایوس ہوگئے تو علیحدگی میں (باہم) سرگوشی کرنے لگے، ان کے بڑے (بھائی) نے کہا: کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ تمہارے باپ نے تم سے اﷲ کی قسم اٹھوا کر پختہ وعدہ لیا تھا اور اس سے پہلے تم یوسف کے حق میں جو زیادتیاں کر چکے ہو (تمہیں وہ بھی معلوم ہیں)، سو میں اس سرزمین سے ہرگز نہیں جاؤں گا جب تک مجھے میرا باپ اجازت (نہ) دے یا میرے لئے اﷲ کوئی فیصلہ فرما دے، اور وہ سب سے بہتر فیصلہ فرمانے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Now when they saw no hope of his (yielding), they held a conference in private. The leader among them said: "Know ye not that your father did take an oath from you in Allah's name, and how, before this, ye did fail in your duty with Joseph? Therefore will I not leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah commands me; and He is the best to command.

[12:81] | IrjiAAoo ila abeekum faqooloo yaabana inna ibnaka saraqa wama shahidnailla bima AAalimna wama kunnalilghaybi hafitheena | ارجعوا إلى أبيكم فقولوا يا أبانا إن ابنك سرق وما شهدنا إلا بما علمنا وما كنا للغيب حافظين ارْجِعُواْ إِلَى أَبِيكُمْ فَقُولُواْ يَا أَبَانَا إِنَّ ابْنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدْنَا إِلاَّ بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَافِظِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تم اپنے باپ کی طرف لوٹ جاؤ پھر (جا کر) کہو: اے ہمارے باپ! بیشک آپ کے بیٹے نے چوری کی ہے (اس لئے وہ گرفتار کر لیا گیا) اور ہم نے فقط اسی بات کی گواہی دی تھی جس کا ہمیں علم تھا اور ہم غیب کے نگہبان نہ تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Turn ye back to your father, and say, 'O our father! behold! thy son committed theft! we bear witness only to what we know, and we could not well guard against the unseen!

| 23. [12:82] | Wais-ali alqaryata allatee kunnafeeha waalAAeera allatee aqbalna feehawa-inna lasadiqoona | واسأل القرية التي كنا فيها والعير التي أقبلنا فيها وإنا لصادقون وَاسْأَلِ الْقَرْيَةَ الَّتِي كُنَّا فِيهَا وَالْعِيْرَ الَّتِي أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اگر آپ کو اعتبار نہ آئے تو) اس بستی (والوں) سے پوچھ لیں جس میں ہم تھے اور اس قافلہ (والوں) سے (معلوم کر لیں) جس میں ہم آئے ہیں، اور بیشک ہم (اپنے قول میں) یقیناً سچے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "'Ask at the town where we have been and the caravan in which we returned, and (you will find) we are indeed telling the truth.'"

[12:83] | Qala bal sawwalat lakum anfusukumamran fasabrun jameelun AAasa Allahu anya/tiyanee bihim jameeAAan innahu huwa alAAaleemu alhakeemu | قال بل سولت لكم أنفسكم أمرا فصبر جميل عسى الله أن يأتيني بهم جميعا إنه هو العليم الحكيم قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ عَسَى اللّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: (ایسا نہیں) بلکہ تمہارے نفسوں نے یہ بات تمہارے لئے مرغوب بنا دی ہے، اب صبر (ہی) اچھا ہے، قریب ہے کہ اﷲ ان سب کو میرے پاس لے آئے، بیشک وہ بڑا علم والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Jacob said: "Nay, but ye have yourselves contrived a story (good enough) for you. So patience is most fitting (for me). Maybe Allah will bring them (back) all to me (in the end). For He is indeed full of knowledge and wisdom."

| 25. [12:84] | Watawalla AAanhum waqala yaasafa AAala yoosufa waibyaddat AAaynahumina alhuzni fahuwa katheemun | وتولى عنهم وقال يا أسفى على يوسف وابيضت عيناه من الحزن فهو كظيم وَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا أَسَفَى عَلَى يُوسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے ان سے منہ پھیر لیا اور کہا: ہائے افسوس! یوسف (علیہ السلام کی جدائی) پر اور ان کی آنکھیں غم سے سفید ہوگئیں سو وہ غم کو ضبط کئے ہوئے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And he turned away from them, and said: "How great is my grief for Joseph!" And his eyes became white with sorrow, and he fell into silent melancholy.

| 26. [12:85] | Qaloo taAllahi taftaotathkuru yoosufa hatta takoona haradanaw takoona mina alhalikeena | قالوا تالله تفتأ تذكر يوسف حتى تكون حرضا أو تكون من الهالكين قَالُواْ تَاللهِ تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ بولے: اﷲ کی قسم! آپ ہمیشہ یوسف (ہی) کو یاد کرتے رہیں گے یہاں تک کہ آپ قریب مرگ ہو جائیں گے یا آپ وفات پا جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "By Allah! (never) wilt thou cease to remember Joseph until thou reach the last extremity of illness, or until thou die!"

| 27. [12:86] | Qala innama ashkoo baththee wahuzneeila Allahi waaAAlamu mina Allahi ma lataAAlamoona | قال إنما أشكو بثي وحزني إلى الله وأعلم من الله ما لا تعلمون قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے فرمایا: میں تو اپنی پریشانی اور غم کی فریاد صرف اﷲ کے حضور کرتا ہوں اور میں اﷲ کی طرف سے وہ کچھ جانتا ہوں جو تم نہیں جانتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "I only complain of my distraction and anguish to Allah, and I know from Allah that which ye know not...

| Tahir ul Qadri | یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: کیا تمہیں معلوم ہے کہ تم نے یوسف اور اس کے بھائی کے ساتھ کیا (سلوک) کیا تھا کیا تم (اس وقت) نادان تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said: "Know ye how ye dealt with Joseph and his brother, not knowing (what ye were doing)?"

[12:87] | Ya baniyya ithhaboo fatahassasoomin yoosufa waakheehi wala tay-asoo min rawhi Allahiinnahu la yay-asu min rawhi Allahi illaalqawmu alkafiroona | يا بني اذهبوا فتحسسوا من يوسف وأخيه ولا تيأسوا من روح الله إنه لا ييأس من روح الله إلا القوم الكافرون يَا بَنِيَّ اذْهَبُواْ فَتَحَسَّسُواْ مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلاَ تَيْأَسُواْ مِن رَّوْحِ اللّهِ إِنَّهُ لاَ يَيْأَسُ مِن رَّوْحِ اللّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے میرے بیٹو! جاؤ (کہیں سے) یوسف (علیہ السلام) اور اس کے بھائی کی خبر لے آؤ اور اﷲ کی رحمت سے مایوس نہ ہو، بیشک اﷲ کی رحمت سے صرف وہی لوگ مایوس ہوتے ہیں جو کافر ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "O my sons! go ye and enquire about Joseph and his brother, and never give up hope of Allah's Soothing Mercy: truly no one despairs of Allah's Soothing Mercy, except those who have no faith."

| 30. [12:91] | Qaloo taAllahi laqad atharakaAllahu AAalayna wa-in kunna lakhati-eena | قالوا تالله لقد آثرك الله علينا وإن كنا لخاطئين قَالُواْ تَاللّهِ لَقَدْ آثَرَكَ اللّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَإِن كُنَّا لَخَاطِئِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ بول اٹھے: اﷲ کی قسم! بیشک اﷲ نے آپ کو ہم پر فضیلت دی ہے اور یقیناً ہم ہی خطاکار تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "By Allah! indeed has Allah preferred thee above us, and we certainly have been guilty of sin!"
