Qala ya qawmi araaytum inkuntu AAala bayyinatin min rabbee warazaqanee minhu rizqanhasanan wama oreedu an okhalifakum ilama anhakum AAanhu in oreedu illa al-islahama istataAAtu wama tawfeeqee illa biAllahiAAalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi oneebu قال يا قوم أرأيتم إن كنت على بينة من ربي ورزقني منه رزقا حسنا وما أريد أن أخالفكم إلى ما أنهاكم عنه إن أريد إلا الإصلاح ما استطعت وما توفيقي إلا بالله عليه توكلت وإليه أنيب
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىَ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّي وَرَزَقَنِي مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَى مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلاَّ الْإِصْلاَحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلاَّ بِاللّهِ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

  شعیب (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: اے میری قوم! ذرا بتاؤ کہ اگر میں اپنے رب کی طرف سے روشن دلیل پر ہوں اور اس نے مجھے اپنی بارگاہ سے عمدہ رزق (بھی) عطا فرمایا (تو پھر حق کی تبلیغ کیوں نہ کروں؟)، اور میں یہ (بھی) نہیں چاہتا کہ تمہارے پیچھے لگ کر (حق کے خلاف) خود وہی کچھ کرنے لگوں جس سے میں تمہیں منع کر رہا ہوں، میں تو جہاں تک مجھ سے ہو سکتا ہے (تمہاری) اصلاح ہی چاہتا ہوں، اور میری توفیق اﷲ ہی (کی مدد) سے ہے، میں نے اسی پر بھروسہ کیا ہے اور اسی کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہوں

Yousuf AliHe said: "O my people! see ye whether I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord, and He hath given me sustenance (pure and) good as from Himself? I wish not, in opposition to you, to do that which I forbid you to do. I only desire (your) betterment to the best of my power; and my success (in my task) can only come from Allah. In Him I trust, and unto Him I look.

Ahmed Aliکہا اے میری قوم دیکھو تو سہی اگر مجھے اپنے رب کی طرف سے سمجھ آ گئی ہے اور اس نے مجھے عمدہ روزی دی ہے اور میں یہ نہیں چاہتا کہ جس کام سے تجھے منع کروں میں اس کے خلاف کروں میں تو اپنی طاقت کے مطابق اصلاح ہی چاہتا ہوں اور مجھے تو صرف الله ہی سے توفیق حاصل ہوتی ہے میں اسی پر بھروسہ کرتا ہوں اور اسی کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہوں
Ahmed Raza Khanکہا اے میری قوم بھلا بتاؤ تو اگر میں اپنے رب کی طرف سے ایک روشن دلیل پر ہوں او راس نے مجھے اپنے پاس سے اچھی روزی دی اور میں نہیں چاہتا ہوں کہ جس بات سے تمہیں منع کرتا ہوں آپ اس کے خلاف کرنے لگوں میں تو جہاں تک بنے سنوارنا ہی چاہتا ہوں، اور میری توفیق اللہ ہی کی طرف سے ہے، میں نے اسی پر بھروسہ کیا اور اسی کی طرف رجوع ہوتا ہوں،
Shabbir Ahmed شعیب نے کہا: اے میری قوم! دیکھو تو اگر ہوں میں قائم ایک کھُلی شہادت پر اپنے رب کی طرف سے اور عطا کیا ہو اس نے مجھے اپنے ہاں سے اچّھا رزق۔ اور نہیں ہے میرا یہ ارادہ کہ میں خلاف کروں بات کے، منع کر رہا ہوں جس سے میں تم کو، نہیں چاہتا میں مگر اصلاح کرنا اپنی بساط کے مطابق اور نہیں ہے مجھے توفیق مگر اللہ کی طرف سے، اسی پر میرا بھروسہ ہے اور اسی سے میں رجوع کرتا ہوں۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyانہوں نے کہا کہ اے قوم! دیکھو تو اگر میں اپنے پروردگار کی طرف سے دلیل روشن پر ہوں اور اس نے اپنے ہاں سے مجھے نیک روزی دی ہو (تو کیا میں ان کے خلاف کروں گا؟) اور میں نہیں چاہتا کہ جس امر سے میں تمہیں منع کروں خود اس کو کرنے لگوں۔ میں تو جہاں تک مجھ سے ہوسکے (تمہارے معاملات کی) اصلاح چاہتا ہوں اور (اس بارے میں) مجھے توفیق کا ملنا خدا ہی (کے فضل) سے ہے۔ میں اسی پر بھروسہ رکھتا ہوں اور اس کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہوں

Abul Ala Maududiشعیبؑ نے کہا "بھائیو، تم خود ہی سوچو کہ اگر میں اپنے رب کی طرف سے ایک کھلی شہادت پر تھا اور پھر اس نے اپنے ہاں سے مجھ کو اچھا رزق بھی عطا کیا (تو اس کے بعد میں تمہاری گمراہیوں اور حرام خوریوں میں تمہارا شریک حال کیسے ہوسکتا ہوں؟) اور میں ہرگز یہ نہیں چاہتا کہ جن باتوں سے میں تم کو روکتا ہوں ان کا خود ارتکاب کروں میں تو اصلاح کرنا چاہتا ہوں جہاں تک بھی میرا بس چلے اور یہ جو کچھ میں کرنا چاہتا ہوں اس کا سارا انحصار اللہ کی توفیق پر ہے، اُسی پر میں نے بھروسہ کیا اور ہر معاملہ میں اسی کی طرف میں رجوع کرتا ہوں

PickthalHe said: O my people! Bethink you: if I am (acting) on a clear proof from my Lord and He sustaineth me with fair sustenance from Him (how can I concede aught to you)? I desire not to do behind your backs that which I ask you not to do. I desire naught save reform so far as I am able. My welfare is only in Allah. In Him I trust and unto Him I turn (repentant).
Arberry He said, 'O my people, what think you? If I stand upon a clear sign from my Lord, and He has provided me with fair provision from Him -- and I desire not to come behind you, betaking me to that I forbid you; I desire only to set things right, so far as I am able. My succour is only with God; in Him I have put my trust, and to Him I turn, penitent.
ShakirHe said: O my people! have you considered if I have a clear proof from my Lord and He has given me a goodly sustenance from Himself, and I do not desire that in opposition to you I should betake myself to that which I forbid you: I desire nothing but reform so far as I am able, and with none but Allah is the direction of my affair to a right issue; on Him do I rely and to Him do I turn:
SarwarHe said, "My people, do you not realize that I have received authoritative evidence from my Lord and have been granted a noble gift from Him? I do not want to oppose or ignore what I have prohibited you not to do. I only intend to reform you as much as I can. My success is in the hands of God. I trust Him and turn to Him in repentance.

George SaleHe said, O my people, tell me; if I have received an evident declaration from my Lord, and He hath bestowed on me an excellent provision, and I will not consent unto you in that which I forbid you; do I seek any other than your reformation, to the utmost of my power? In Him have I placed my trust, and unto Him do I always turn!
Khalifa**He said, "O my people, what if I have solid proof from my Lord; what if He has provided me with a great blessing? It is not my wish to commit what I enjoin you from. I only wish to correct as many wrongs as I can. My guidance depends totally on GOD; I have put my trust in Him. To Him I have totally submitted.
Hilali/Khan**He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a good sustenance from Himself (shall I corrupt it by mixing it with the unlawfully earned money). I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you. I only desire reform so far as I am able, to the best of my power. And my guidance cannot come except from Allah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.

What if He has provided me with a decent and honorable sustenance while I follow His Laws? I deal in all fairness and I shall never preach what I don't practice behind your sight. I sincerely desire your betterment so far as I can. But the achievement of my aim depends on Allah alone. I trust in Allah and turn to Him hoping for the best."
