Wala-in athaqnahu naAAmaabaAAda darraa massat-hu layaqoolanna thahabaalssayyi-atu AAannee innahu lafarihunfakhoorun ولئن أذقناه نعماء بعد ضراء مسته ليقولن ذهب السيئات عني إنه لفرح فخور
وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ نَعْمَاءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ السَّيِّئَاتُ عَنِّي إِنَّهُ لَفَرِحٌ فَخُورٌ

  اور اگر ہم اسے (کوئی) نعمت چکھاتے ہیں اس تکلیف کے بعد جو اسے پہنچ چکی تھی تو ضرور کہہ اٹھتا ہے کہ مجھ سے ساری تکلیفیں جاتی رہیں، بیشک وہ بڑا خوش ہونے والا (اور) فخر کرنے والا (بن جاتا) ہے

Ahmed Aliاور اگر مصیبت پہنچنے کے بعد نعمتوں کا مزہ چکھاتے ہیں تو کہتا ہے کہ میری سختیاں جاتی رہیں کیوں کہ وہ اترانے والا شیخی خورا ہے

Abul Ala Maududiاور اگر اُس مصیبت کے بعد جو اُس پر آئی تھی ہم اسے نعمت کا مزا چکھاتے ہیں تو کہتا ہے میرے تو سارے دلدر پار ہو گئے، پھر وہ پھولا نہیں سماتا اور اکڑنے لگتا ہے

LiteralAnd if (E) We made him taste/experience blessing/goodness after calamity/disastrous distress touched him, he will say (E): "The sins/crimes went away (were) eliminated/(were) wiped out from me." That he is happy/rejoiced/delighted proud/arrogant.

AsadAnd thus it is: if We let him taste ease and plenty" after hardship has visited him, he is sure to say, "Gone is all affliction from me!"-for, behold, he is given to vain exultation, and glories only in himself.'
Khalifa**Whenever we bless him, after adversity had afflicted him, he says, "All adversity has gone away from me;" he becomes excited, proud.
Hilali/Khan**But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allah).
